Calling for Reinforcements

Santana's POV
When our parents left, we assumed it would be longer than most of their battles, but three days wasn't what we expected. Blaire stayed at my house while they were gone. "Charlie, when is mom coming back?" Kara asked. "I don't know, Kara. I'll ask Zed if he's heard anything though." He answered. Zed was forced to watch over the matrix while Arc and Gabe were gone. They didn't want their actual company to lose any work days, and Zephyr is busy enough as it is. "Do you think they're ok?" Blaire whispered, and I shrugged. "I hope so. I don't see how we're supposed to save them if they aren't." I sighed. "You don't think we could do it?" Blaire asked. I shrugged again. "If they couldn't do it? I don't think we stand a chance. I already can't use half of my powers, and don't get me started on trying to mix them. How could I help save my mom, who's a thousand times better than me?" I asked. "Oh come on Satan, you've been doing a lot better! I get that you're still a little nervous about being a hero, but it's not like our parents are perfect! You'll get there eventually, and in the meantime, you're right where you need to be." Blaire patted my shoulder. "Girls come here! I have something!" Charlie yelled. We ran over to him, and Lizz and Kat joined us. "The Arrows got another message this morning, but since the adults are gone, their other parents didn't notice it until now. Suit up and go to them. I'm gonna head to the matrix." Charlie ordered, and we agreed.

When everyone arrived, Retro played the clip. It was from Gabe this time. "We need your help! If only to escape this wretched planet! We're in way over our heads. Please! Get here as soon as you can!" He snapped, and the video cut out. "Fantastic. What now?" I asked. "We need a way to open a portal. Our parents took the only transporter with them so they could get back." Retro replied. Blaire and I looked at Cleo. "What?" She asked. "Ask Alex." I said. "I can't! I promised her I wouldn't ask anymore favors." Cleo sighed. "This is different." We heard. Kai popped up behind Retro and smiled at us. "Ah! Stop that!" Retro snapped. Kai smirked. "This is important. I'm here to open a portal for you all, but do you have a plan?" She asked. "Of course not! They just got here!" Retro groaned. "Listen up!" Zephyr yelled, and we looked at her. "This world is at war. We don't know where our parents are or if they're ok. We don't know if their so-called resistance is still standing. What we do know is that this world has an army larger than all of us, and that they are behind in the timeline. Meaning, whatever happens, we stick together and fight as one. There are no separate teams in this battle. We all are a team now, and when we get there, we can NOT call each other by our real names. Super names only! Because if those versions of our parents get a whiff of the future, it could screw up everything! Now, put on your capes, hoods, and quivers, because we don't know what's on the other side of that portal. Kai, open it." She ordered. Kai's hair caught fire and she drew a circle with her magic. Then she expanded it, and it flashed open a portal. "Argh! That's a heavy one! Hurry guys!" She groaned in pain. We all started heading through it. "Nice speech, Zeff." I noted. "Thanks. I wasn't sure it'd work." She laughed.

As the portal closed, we all looked around in confusion. "What the hell happened here?" Kara asked. "Scan the room for any life signals." Zephyr ordered. Kara and I scanned opposite sides of the room. "Not in here." Kara shrugged. "Stop talking!" Lizz snapped, and we looked at her. She and Kat were tuning into the sounds around us. Then they looked back at us and pointed to a door in the corner. "Someone is in the closet." Lizz said. "Arrows. Ambush them." Zephyr ordered. The Arrows slowly stepped over to the door and surrounded it. They all pulled back an arrow as Retro swiftly opened it. All their arrows pointed up immediately, but the strange thing was that someone else pointed an arrow at them from within the closet. "Who the fuck are you people?!" The girl shouted. The Arrows lowered their bows. "Are you... Kayla?" Retro asked. "How do you know my name?" The girl snarled. "We're from Earth thirty one. We were sent to help the resistance." Retro explained. Kayla lowered her arrow. "There's more of you? Thank god!" She sighed and walked out of the door. It was the original Red Arrow, but she was only a teenager, and she wasn't wearing any red. Addison was stunned, but kept her mouth shut. "Guys! More help is here!" Kayla yelled. Almost immediately, another girl stormed out of a different room and marched up to her. "What did I tell you about yelling in here?! If a drone hears you, we're all dead!" She snapped. Kara and I shared an uncomfortable look. It was Aurelia, and from uncle Gabe's horror stories, she doesn't seem much different on this Earth than she was on ours. "Also, how do you know these people are here to help? Just because they're dressed in the same awful colors doesn't mean anything! It could be a ploy!" Aurelia snapped. "We aren't faking you out. We're from Earth thirty one. Gabe asked us for help." Zephyr explained. Aurelia groaned to herself. "You must be their kids that they talked about. Well, I'm sure you know my name already. I am the co-leader of this resistance. Sarah is busy leading your parents on the battlefield right now." She explained. "You can call me Cyber. What happened here?" Zephyr asked.

Aurelia led us across the room to a whiteboard. She flipped it over to show us their plans. There was so much happening that I couldn't make any of it out, but there were pictures around the board that helped a little. "Here's how things work here. This is the main base of operations. As you can see, we are hidden extremely close to it." She pointed to the horribly drawn map with a stick. "Three days ago, Sarah led your parents into the battle zone here, along with our finest soldiers in the resistance. They have yet to come back, except for one of them. The guy you said called you." Aurelia explained. Zephyr immediately went to say something, but I stopped her. She could risk revealing that Gabe is her dad. "He's here?" I asked. "No. Not anymore. He went back to the front after he filled us in." She replied. "Filled you in with what?" I asked. "With your parents' help, we've managed to hold the line, keeping the enemy from our territory, but we can't push them back any further." She explained. "Ok hold on. Why are you at war in the first place? And how come these operations are being run by teenagers!?" Kara exclaimed. "Ugh- you sound like the older version of me... which is concerning. I couldn't tell you what started this. It's been going on for ages. As for the teens thing, that was recent. Two years ago, the resistance suffered a very heavy loss. All of our adult members, and half of the kids were captured on the field. We're all that remains. Rumors about the other side are hard to come by, but from what we know, the teenagers overpowered the adult leaders with some sort of spell. I'm not sure how it works, but somehow they've gotten our own friends to work for them." Aurelia explained. "I'm sorry that happened." I said. She shrugged. "It doesn't matter. Our greatest concern now is getting your parents back and getting you all out of here. I knew this was a bad idea, and I can't stand the thought of another world falling because of our failure." She flipped the board again. "What?! No!" Kara grabbed Aurelia's arm. "Listen, we came to help and we're not leaving until this fight is over. You're clearly smart enough to be in charge, so I'm sure you have something going on in that head of yours! What's your plan, Aurelia?" Kara asked.

Aurelia just stared at her for a moment, and then pulled her arm away. "Fine. You wanna get killed, be my guest. The main enemy base is kinda like a giant tower. There's this spire on the very top of it, and I think they may be casting the spell through it, like a broadcast or something. I'm not very educated when it comes to magic, so I could be wrong, but my g- uh... someone I used to know was really good at it, and she used to say that spells with a power source only last so long as the source is intact." She explained. Kara and I shared a glance as she stuttered. Zephyr stepped up again. "We can destroy that spire, and we'll help push the line back as far as we can. Do you have anyone left that can lead us there?" She asked. Aurelia took a deep breath. "I'll lead you out there. All of our generals are gone already. Kayla! You're in charge while I'm gone. I'll meet you outside after I get in my armor." She walked away, and we turned to Zephyr. "Arrows, Sonar, Radar, Hurricane, Spark Hound, and I guess Kai, you all are going to help our parents. Rover, Talon, Router, and I are going to destroy that spire." She ordered. "What?! Why?!" Kara and I shrieked in unison. "Because you know as well as I do that it's your mothers spell that's doing this. You two may be the only ones capable of combating her magic." Zephyr snapped. We sighed. "Then why are you coming?" Kara asked. "As backup, and because if magic is flowing through technology, then that tells me who else is helping with this spell." Zephyr groaned. "Great." I rolled my eyes. "Ok kid heroes! Let's go!" Aurelia walked out the door from across the room and we all followed her.
