Ella's POV
I knocked on the door to moms house. Lila opened it, looking confused. "Hello... why are you back?" She asked. "I heard you needed a ride to homecoming." I smiled. "You're scared to talk to Retro." She huffed. "Yep. That too." I nodded. She sighed. "Ok. Let me finish getting ready. Hopefully we can leave before mom makes me take pictures." Lila rolled her eyes and walked back inside.
"So how come Zane isn't taking you?" I asked. "We're freshmen! He can't drive! ...legally, at least. And Zephyr isn't going tonight, so she couldn't drive us." Lila explained. "Why isn't Zephyr coming?" I asked. She shrugged. "No clue. Where's your friends?" She asked. "Sky and Bailey left together. The boys left together. Addison went with Dylan, and Retro went... alone." I explained. "What about the other one?" Lila asked. "Riley? She didn't want to go. Wait, how do you know about her?" I asked. "We take computer science together." She replied. "Oh, well she said she didn't like school dances." I shrugged. "It seems like you do too, since you're taking us the long way. Why are you so scared of talking to your best friend?" Lila asked. "Ok first, Kara is my best friend. Second, I'm scared because I don't want to make things worse!" I exclaimed. "You are such a waste of my time. Why do I even bother helping you anymore?! Just get me to the fucking dance! I've given you all the keys, Ella. You have to use them!" Lila yelled. I sighed. "Fine." I huffed.
Lila ran off with Zane when we arrived. Dylan and Addison ran over to me when they saw me. "Hey! You're here! Finally!" Addy groaned. "What? There was traffic! Why?" I asked. "Retro is being a sad sack and we're trying to have a nice night. I don't know what you did, but fix it!" Dylan snapped, pointing her finger at me. "Ok! I'm going! Where is she?" I spat. They both pointed over to the doors. "She's outside?" I asked. "If I had to guess, she's on the roof. Here, take my flight enhancers." Dylan popped these small buttons off of her shoes. "You can't fly?! I thought for sure you could fly naturally!" I admitted. "What about fire and ice magic makes you think I can fly? Just take them and go!" Dylan shoved them into my hands and they stormed off.
I made my way outside and looked around. Retro wasn't in sight, so she must have been on the roof like Dylan said. "How do I put these on? Will they even stay on my heels?" I asked myself. When I reached down to put on the button, it snapped out of my hand and onto the side of my shoe like a magnet. "Huh! That's actually pretty cool." I chuckled, and put the other one on. Then I jumped up, and started levitating. "Woah! This is so weird!" I shrieked. I was going up, slowly, but I had no idea how to fly. "Woah-!" I flapped my arms around in a panic. Retro peeked her head over the side of the roof, looking confused. "Ella? Are you flying?" She asked, stunned. "Yeah! Woah- please help me!" I panicked. She flew over to me and took my hand. Then she led me back up to the roof. "Dylan gave you her flight enhancers, didn't she?" She asked. "Yes, cause I really need to talk to you." I smiled. "Why? I thought you didn't want to be seen with me." She huffed. "That's not what I said, and that's not fair, Retro! You can't be mad at me for something I didn't know!" I exclaimed. Her eyebrows shot up and her head snapped over at me. "Sorry, what? What didn't you know?" She growled. I gulped nervously. "That you liked me." I answered. Retro looked down and took a deep breath. "We're losing an Arrow when we get home." She grumbled. "Dylan didn't tell me. Actually Riley did. She's really good at reading people. And you can't kill our newbie. Anyway, I never meant to hurt your feelings like that, Retro. I was just scared of what people would think, and I know that's no excuse... but I'm sorry." I explained. Retro glared over at me. "Maybe it's time we have separate rooms." She said. I stepped closer to her. "No. If anything is going to be leaving our room soon, it'll be one of our beds." I snapped. Her eyebrows shot up in shock. "What?" She asked. "You heard me. I didn't know why those rumors bothered me so much, but I do now. They didn't bother me because others thought they were true. They bothered me because I wanted them to be true. Or at least... the less embarrassing ones." I chuckled. Retro just blinked at me for a second. "Did they tell you to say this? Did Dylan or Riley put you up to this?" She asked. "What? No! Retro, I'm serious. I really like you, and I want to see where this goes. So forget everything I said before. Will you please be my date for homecoming?" I asked. She sighed and looked to the side. "I guess, but I can't even go to the dance." She groaned. "What? Why?" I asked. "Since I didn't think I was going with you, Riley and I are scouting the area. There were strange radiation signals spotted nearby." She explained. "Is that why Zephyr isn't here?" I asked. "I guess so. I didn't know she wasn't here." She admitted. "Ok. Where's Riley?" I asked. "I think she's over on the auditorium." Retro pointed across the courtyard. "Well, the sky looks clear to me. So come on! You wouldn't want to disappoint your date." I smirked. Retro smiled softly and took my hand. "I have a better idea. You want to learn how to fly?" She asked. I smiled and squeezed her hand. "Sure." I agreed.
Lizz's POV
Spending the night with Kara has been amazing. She ran over to talk to Santana for a minute, and I found a place to sit down. Zane sat down beside me. "Hey! You mind if I sit here?" He asked. "Go ahead." I shrugged. "I like your suit. Where's Kat?" He asked. "Earth thirty two. I guess she found a girl to pursue, and she's really into it. Where's Zephyr?" I asked. "Grounded. Dad found out she was planning on coming here with Gypsy. So now neither of them are here! I tried to change his mind, but he hates Gypsy." Zane explained. "That sucks. You're here with your girlfriend?" I asked. "Yeah. Lila's in the bathroom though." He nodded. "Isn't that Ella's sister?" I asked. "Oh god, she's so scary." Zane groaned. "Ella or Lila?" I asked. "Both!" He huffed, and I laughed. Kara walked back over to me. "Hey! Come on! We're leaving early, right?" She asked. "Yeah! Bye Zane." I stood up and took her hand.
We walked outside to her car. "What do you want to eat? Do you want to sit down, or go in a drive thru?" I asked, scrolling through my phone, trying to find what was close to us. "Lizz... I don't think we're eating anytime soon." She said. "Is that not why we left early?" I asked, looking up at her. "Please call my mom." She whispered in a panic. I raised an eyebrow at her. Kara was just staring up at the trees behind the parking lot. I looked up in the same direction and my eyes widened. Two bright lights were pinned down, staring at us. "Are those eyes?" I whispered. "It's watching us." Kara nodded slowly. "We can't transform." I groaned. "Then call my mom!" Kara whisper-yelled. I fumbled with my phone, but called Aurelia. Kara called Santana on her own phone. "Hello?" Aurelia asked. "We have a big problem. Get to the school, now!" I exclaimed. "Santana's not answering." Kara said. "What's going on? Are you ok? Where's Kara and Santana?" Aurelia asked. "We're fine, for now, but I'm pretty sure there's a dinotron staring us down in the parking lot right now." I mumbled. "There's a- ...we're on the way." She hung up. "They're on the way." I said. "We need to warn the others." Kara replied. "But we can't get back inside!" I exclaimed. The tree's started moving and we looked over. The dinotrons giant robot foot, took a single step forward, making the ground shake like all hell. Practically everyone's car alarms started going off. "I think they'll let us in!" I grabbed Kara's hand and bolted back to the school.
