Retro's POV
As I walked to the kitchen, Max opened the door and almost ran into me. "Woah! Sorry." He backed up. "It's ok." I shrugged. "A quick warning before you go in there. Emma is in there." He pointed back at the door. "So?" I asked. "She freaks me out! I wasn't sure if you felt the same." He replied. "No, that's just you, Max. Actually, I've been meaning to talk to her, and I need a witness! So come on." I grabbed his arm and pulled him back into the kitchen.
"Hey Emma! Where's Riley?" I asked. "Bathroom." Emma stared down at her phone as she sat at one of our small tables. "I'm glad you're here! I've been wanting to talk to you, but I kept forgetting." I admitted. I sat down across from her and she raised an eyebrow at me. Max just leaned on the back of my chair. "I want you to join our team." I smiled. Emma huffed and looked back at her phone. "Not to join The Arrows! I know you don't want that, and Riley has begged me a thousand times not to ask. What I'm offering you, is the chance to be your own hero. So that you can protect Riley and anyone else you love." I explained. She glanced up at me again. "Look. None of us would have known that Sky was an imposter without you here. You have something, Emma, and I'd hate to think you threw it away to be a stay-at-home girlfriend." I explained. Emma sat up and gently placed her phone down. "I have a job, and friends, thank you very much. But I guess that's not a horrible idea, and I would like to keep Riley safe. Especially with... nevermind. I will take your offer, as long as I don't have to use a bow." She replied. I smiled. "Done." I agreed. "Can I go now?" Max asked, and I waved him away.
Later that day, my mom came down to our live room. "Mom! Hey! Is something wrong?" I asked. "No. I just have something for you." Astro smiled. I walked over to her and she handed me a long small box. "I know that you're not a goddess, and that technically Alex is my pupil, but you're still my daughter, and I love you so much. So I wanted to give you this." She explained. I raised an eyebrow and took the box. My eyes widened as I opened it. "As you know, I was the Fate responsible for cutting the life strings, and these were my shears. Alex has her own now so she doesn't need them, and I figured you might like to have them." She explained. My jaw dropped slightly as I ran my fingers over the shears. "I'm honored to have it. Thank you mom." I smiled up at her. Astro hugged me and I smiled against her shoulder. "You mean the world to me, Retro. Please be careful." She told me. "What do you mean?" I asked. She sighed heavily. "The young Fates tell me things... things you could never know. Your team is going to be in danger very soon, and your father and I won't be able to save you. So please... please be careful. Be patient, and keep your team safe, and you will be ok. Ok?" She put her hands on my shoulders and I nodded nervously. "Ok mom." I agreed.
Ella walked over to me. "Hey! Santana's here, and she brought some new people. Come on." She waved me over. I nodded and teleported the shears into my bedroom. "Sorry mom. Just one second." I said, and she nodded. Then Ella and I walked to the center of the room. "Ok Arrows. This is my new sister, Amber, and her girlfriend Ember. They are also our newest heroes. Solar Flare and Shock Wave. Girls, these are The Arrows, and that's my boyfriend Connor." Santana introduced us. "Nice to meet you girls. I'm Retro, or Orange, and I'm their leader." I smiled. "Debatable." Ella coughed and I glared back at her. "It's nice to meet you too." Ember replied. "Oh! Show them the thing! It's so cool!" Santana laughed. The girls chuckled and each lifted a hand to the sky. As soon as they opened their palms, two staffs came flying in through the balcony, and landed in their hands. When they caught them, their costumes flashed onto them, and my jaw dropped in awe. "Right?! So cool!" Santana pointed to them. "But you look human. How's that possible?" I asked. "We are human. It's... a long story." Ember shrugged. Suddenly, Astro screamed from behind us and we turned to face her. Mom was staring in horror at the new girls, or rather, at something behind them. "You... no! No you're supposed to be dead!" She shrieked. "Mom, are you ok?" I asked.
Amber's POV
Retro's mom was staring right at Christian, and we immediately tensed. "She can see you?" I asked. "I warned you." He replied. The woman slowly got closer and pushed past the kids. "Christian. Son of Cronos. How could you possibly be standing in front of me?" She asked. Ember and I looked back at him in a panic, but he remained calm. "I can't say I know who you are, but you must be of immortal blood." He said. "I am Astro, daughter of Clotho, and pupil of Atropos. Now you will answer my question." She snarled. "Oh, a Fate! Cool. Also, good to know that Zeus lied about me just as much as he did about your decree." Christian smirked. "Chris, stop it. Answer her." I snapped. Astro looked down at me. "You two can see him? But you all can't?" She looked back at Retro who shook her head. "They hold my power, Astro. Now listen to me. I am not who you think I am." Christian explained. "Don't give me that! I know who you are! You were the first attempt at creating a second generation, but thanks to you, no other titans got to pass on their lineage. You were too much like your father, so Zeus blasted you down." Astro explained. "That's true, but he did not destroy me. After a fiery battle, and a large blast of lightning, Zeus decided that my power was too much for anyone to handle. He was convinced that it had driven me insane, but he couldn't destroy it. So he cursed me to live out eternity as a spirit, roaming this universe, and my powers were channeled into these two staffs. Then I was given the task of finding those who were powerless, like humans, and choosing two of them to wield the power of time." He explained. "And you expect me to believe that two fifteen year old girls were your best option?!" Astro shrieked. "They aren't my first duo, and they won't be the last. I've been doing this for centuries, Astro. I know that my name still haunts you all, but I am not that man anymore. Hundreds of years does that to you." He explained. "Mom. Are you ok? What's going on?" Retro asked. Astro looked down at Ember and I. "You two believe him?" She asked. "He's annoying, but he's not evil." Ember nodded. Astro took a deep concerned breath. "Just... be cautious. Time is very delicate." She told us. We smiled at her. "We know." We replied.
"So you have god magic? How'd you even land these things?" Santana gestured to my stick. "Oh. Well... it wasn't us. Not really." I shrugged. "Yeah, we were just chosen." Ember agreed. "I never picked you." Christian told us, and we looked back at him. "I found you when I felt my powers activate again, but I didn't choose you. You were born to have this magic." He explained. "What?" I asked, stunned. "Ok. Scratch that I guess. We were 'born for this' apparently." Ember shrugged. "I'm starting to understand why you stare into space a lot. Talking to air looks really weird." Santana noted, and I sighed heavily. "I know it does, but staring off isn't much better... I want to tell you. I really do but... it's so much more than just getting a stick." I explained. Santana smiled and shrugged. "No one's forcing you. You don't have to say anything, but it's nice to know we have the power of a titan on our side! Now come on. Let's head home." She waved for us to follow her, and I smiled.
