Turn Back Time

Amber's POV
Zephyr sent all of the flyers around the mall to scope for any traps. "What's the status?" She asked, as they all landed by us. "Potion bombs and magic net cannons all over. Impossible not to trigger." Kara answered. "Great. Any good news?" Zephyr groaned. "A net can only hold one person. As long as we get Black, Gold, and Red inside to deal with their dads, the rest of us won't make a difference. And whoever ends up making it with them can protect them." Kara suggested. Zephyr stared at her like she was insane. "You want everyone to get captured?" She asked. "There's nothing else other than some nets and a few knockout potions. We'd be unconscious at worst. And it's not like they have any lackeys to attack us while we're down. They're just two guys! Let The Arrows handle them, and then they can come save us afterwards!" Kara exclaimed. Zephyr threw her head back as she groaned. "Good with me." Riley shrugged. "What?!" Zephyr huffed. "What? We always win! And Rover is right. We can always come save you all after." Riley explained. "Yeah, and I don't know if you noticed, but our dad is a crusty old man. He poses no physical threat. Henry is the main offender." Gold added. Zephyr blinked a few times. "Fine. Fine! But let it be known, I hate this plan." She lifted a finger. "Noted. Let's split up and get inside." Kara smiled.

Ember opened a portal for the two of us. After she passed out from that other portal, she hasn't been able to hold one for anyone other than me, and that's only because our magic is the same. "I feel bad." She sighed. "It's ok, Shock Wave. You already saved all of our friends! They can't expect you to be recharged after one day. Now hurry up. We need to search this place." I said. "You mean the ruins?" She raised an eyebrow at the hole in the ceiling. I chuckled. "Yes. The ruins. Whatever gets you to hurry." I huffed, and she followed me. We walked throughout the rubble, and looked around for any sign of Henry and David. It was silent for a while, until we heard footsteps and stopped. Ember and I readied our weapons and slowly peeked around the corner. Riley and Emma were there, each pointing their weapons at us too. I sighed when I saw them, and we walked around the corner. "Thank god. Are you guys ok?" Riley asked. "Yeah. You?" Ember asked. They nodded. "If you came from there then let's go this way." Riley led the way and we followed her.

We jumped again when we ran into the adults. Gold and Red made it in with Zill and Green. "Really? Those two are our saving grace if this goes wrong? We're so fucked." Gold groaned. I frowned and Ember was taken back in offense. "Did you find them?" Riley asked. "No. Did you?" Red asked. Riley shook her head. "But that's the whole mall! What can we be missing?" Gold groaned. Ember and I shared a glance. "Christian!" We summoned him. "Yeah?" He asked. We turned around to see him laying back against a pile of rubble. "What's up?" He asked. "Where are they?" I asked. "Why would I tell you that?" He laughed. "Because we are your holders." I spat. Chris just chuckled. "I don't fucking care." He laughed. "I won't leave my tv on at night for you." Ember said. "What!?" He jumped to his feet and we smiled. "Where are they?" We asked again. Christian stared at us for a second and then groaned. "The food court. It fell from the second floor to the first, so it's really damaged, but it's easy to hide in. They saw you come in, but they haven't moved yet. If you go now, you can still catch them." He said. "Thank you Chris. They're in the food court. Let's go!" Ember smiled. "I still don't understand that." Riley groaned and followed us. Christian flew above my head as I walked. "Remember what I've taught you, Amber. Remember everything you know about time. You'll need it soon." He warned. I stopped in confusion and looked up, but he was gone.

We ran into the food court with our weapons ready. Red, Gold, and Black all had an arrow drawn, and Emma was gripping her gun. "Come on out, you old bitch! We know you're here!" Zill flew up above us. The hair on my arms slowly started to stand up, and my eyes widened, but I wasn't the first person to notice it. "Zill get down!" Riley shouted. Zill landed right before a blast of electricity shot out at her. Henry crept out from behind the rubble, smiling at us. "Aren't you smart? I always loved how smart you were, honey." He smiled. "Don't you call me that!" Riley pointed her arrow at him. David walked up beside him. Henry laughed. "You wouldn't shoot me. You don't have it in you." He smiled. Riley's hands shook and she shifted in her stance. "Maybe not, but I sure as fuck can!" Emma pointed her gun at him. "Ah yes. The bandit. You know, I thought sending you to Teen Island would make this easier! Shame on me for that, I guess." Henry sighed. "Look. We don't want to shoot either of you. We won't shoot either of you, as long as you put your hands in the air, and let us bring you in." Zill explained. She created two pairs of handcuffs and a power cuff. "Ugh. You two picked such awful partners." David groaned and shook his head. "Shut your trap old man!" Green pulled back an arrow. "You're lucky I don't shoot you just for making me relive my childhood trauma!" She snapped. "Wait what?" Red asked. "He locked me in the church." Green explained. "What?!" Red snapped. "Don't worry, girls. As soon as these mistakes have been removed, we can be a family again! And we can start with them." David smirked and pulled out his own bow. He shot three arrows at each of their partners. "No!" They panicked. Red and Gold each caught the arrow shot at their wives, but Riley wasn't so skilled. The arrow landed directly in her, and stuck out the back of her neck. Riley choked and fell backwards onto Emma. "No! Riley!" Emma shrieked. Everyone's jaws dropped, and we all just stopped for a moment. Emma screamed in pain and shot her gun. She rang out bullet after bullet into David's chest. "Emma stop! Stop!" The adults all ran to her. "We don't kill! You know that." Red said. "But they do!" Emma screamed. Henry just stood there in shock. He couldn't even blink.

My eyes started to water and I looked at Ember. She clutched her staff and shook her head. "We have to do it." She said. "We can't! You know we can't!" I whined. "Yes we can! This is necessary, Solar! We can't let her die!" She snapped. "Even if we did, how would we stop it?" I asked. "By stopping time. I heard what Chris said, and now he's conveniently not here. It's obvious, Solar Flare. Come on. Let's turn back time." Ember smiled. I took a deep shaky breath. "Ok... ok! Let's do it!" I spun my staff around and threw it into the air. A circle was drawn above us as my staff twirled around. Ember spun her stick to activate it and then slammed it down into the ground. My staff stopped suddenly and dropped back into my hand. Ember's staff shot a beam up into the circle, and created a portal. "Alright. Get ready for the time freeze." I warned her. The portal slammed down over us, and we squeezed our eyes shut.

When we opened our eyes again, we were standing in the same place, but when we looked over, David was still talking about their poor taste in partners. I smiled and spun my stick around. Then I sunk it into the ground and time suddenly stopped. Everyone went stiff, and the air turned stale. "Hurry and knock them out! I can't hold it here forever!" I groaned. Ember nodded and ran over to Henry and David. Then she slammed her staff into each of their heads. They didn't move, but the impact was made. Then Ember picked them up, one after the other, and threw them into the air so they would fall when time unfreezes. My arms started to shake as the staff started lifting from the ground. "Shock Wave!" I shouted. She ran back over to me. "It's ok. Let go!" Ember nodded. My staff shot up out of the ground and dropped back into my hands. Once I caught it, time unfroze, and the men both fell to the ground, unconscious. I leaned over onto Ember's shoulder and she laughed. "I gotcha, babe." She scooped me up. The others all looked back at us in confusion. "What did you just do?" Gold asked. "We saved you from being 'fucked' as you put it." Ember smirked. "We time traveled." I exhaled. "What? But I thought you weren't allowed to!" Riley exclaimed. "We aren't... but we couldn't let you die." I explained. Her eyes widened, and Emma leaned forward in horror. "We'll explain later. Let's go save the others." Ember smiled.

When we got home, I was still exhausted. "Time is heavy, isn't it?" Christian smirked. "Chris! You're back." I smiled. "You did the right thing. Don't worry about it. I'm glad you guys are ok." He said. Ember and I smiled at him. "How are you feeling, Amber?" Aurelia sat down beside me. "I'm fine. Just tired." I yawned. She smiled. "We're all really proud of you, and you Ember. Without you two, we wouldn't be here right now. So thank you." She said. "Thanks mom." I replied. Aurelia smiled and chuckled. "Well isn't that sweet!" We heard. We all looked over to see three girls in all black staring at us. "Hello Amber. I figured it was about time we met." One of them started walking to me. "Oh crap... the Fates." Christian panicked. "Shut up Christian!" One of them snapped. "My name is Cal. This is Lemmy and Alex. We are the Fates, and we came to tell you that you did a fantastic job. Time isn't easy to handle, but you did it! Both of you." She explained. "You're not mad at us?" Ember asked. "No. You did exactly what was destined for you, and we thank you for that." Cal smiled. "You're welcome?" Ember laughed. "Hey Cal, while you're here, are we done? Can we live normally again?" Aurelia asked. Cal smiled at her. "Sure, but what's normal?" She shrugged, and the three of them left through a portal.
