Cleo's POV
Marlow and I walked to class together. "You still haven't talked to your mom?" She asked. "Hell no! I've been talking to Claire though, and explaining everything to her was weird, but at least she supports me." I shrugged. "But didn't your mom apologize?" Marlow asked. "Ha! Yeah. Through my best friends mom. If she wants me back, she can come say it to my face." I spat. "I think you're being a little too harsh on her. It's not evil to want your kids to be safe." She replied. I rolled my eyes. "It's not evil if I push you down the stairs, but it's still frowned upon." I replied. Marlow stopped for a second. "I hope you never have children." She said. We walked into the classroom and sat down beside each other. "Besides, how can you say that when your dad hardly notices you?" I huffed. "Oh! That reminds me. Can you help me pack after school? I'm moving out." She said. I raised an eyebrow at her. "Seriously?" I asked. She nodded. "Lemmy doesn't like me living with him, so she bought us an apartment." Marlow explained. "That's insane." I noted. "Will you help or not?" She spat. "Yeah. Of course." I nodded.

Since we only had thirty minutes before Marlows dad got home, Alex, Lemmy, Cal, and Kai, all came to help get her out of there. I don't really see why I was needed, or why they didn't just teleport this stuff to the apartment, but whatever. As we loaded the boxes into Marlows truck, Alex pulled me aside. "Hey! Guess where we're going tonight!" She smiled. "Ooh- where?" I giggled. "No seriously, guess." She pushed my shoulder. "Dinner? Probably? I don't know." I shrugged. "Yes actually! We're going to have dinner with your mom." She smiled. "What?!" I shrieked. "Yep! I talked to your sister to make sure Khloe would be home tonight, and I talked to Marlow to make sure you'd have your schedule cleared." She smirked. I glared back at Marlow, and she just smiled innocently. "Babe, you don't have to do this. I'm not ready to see my mom." I told her. "Yes you are! And you need to talk to her. It's important, Cleo." Alex put her hand on my shoulder. I whined in annoyance. "But I don't wanna!" I groaned. "Boo hoo. You can't stop me. You'll go wherever I want you to, now come on. Let's get back to work." She smiled and kissed my cheek.

Alex dragged me to my mom's place. She knocked on the door and when my mom answered, I walked away. Alex immediately teleported me back to her side, grabbed my shoulders, and forced me to face her. "Hello Ms. Standford. I'm Alex, your daughters girlfriend. I've brought her here to talk things out with you!" She explained. Mom looked down at me in shock. "Mother." I greeted her. "Cleo... come in." She stepped aside, and Alex shoved me into the room. Then she grabbed my arm and dragged me to the couch. "Sit!" She shoved me down, and sat down beside me. "Good girl." She patted my head, and I growled at her. Mom sat down across from us and leaned forward. "Where have you been? I've been worried sick. Apollo said you were ok, but she wouldn't tell me where you were." She explained. "Hell. I was in hell." I answered. "I live in hell. She was with me." Alex explained. "Ok... Cleo I'm sorry. I know I hurt your feelings, and I'm really sorry." Mom told me. "No you're not. If you were actually sorry, then you'd know what you did wrong. I'm not mad at you because you hurt my feelings. You're my mother. You do that on a daily basis." I crossed my arms. Mom furrowed her brows and looked away. "You're only mad now because you know I'm right. You're not sorry, because you don't think you did anything wrong." I spat.

She glared back over at me. "Forgive me for caring about my daughter! God forbid I want her to be safe and not put herself in danger!" She yelled. I shook my head and looked away. Alex nudged me, and I huffed. "Did you ever think that I might enjoy being a superhero? Because I do! It makes me feel alive! I've never felt more like myself then I do when I'm out there fighting evil. Besides, I'm on a team! I have people to protect me, and they're just as old as I am!" I exclaimed. Mom huffed and bit her lip. "I'm happy that you feel at home there, but I can't handle the thought of losing another loved one. It's too hard." Mom explained. "She's not in danger, and she's not going to get hurt." Alex said. We both looked at her. "What? I asked Cal. My sister sees the future." Alex explained. "What?" Mom asked, confused. "Oh yeah. I'm a goddess. Is she gonna need proof like you did?" Alex asked me. "Probably." I nodded. "A goddess? You think you're immortal?" Khloe asked. Alex took off my bracelet, extended the stick, took out the blade, and stabbed herself in the chest. Mom and I both screamed in horror. Alex raised an eyebrow at me, and simply removed the blade. The wound healed instantly. "Why are you surprised?" She asked. "You should have done that when I didn't believe you! It would have been over so much quicker!" I exclaimed. Alex chuckled and gave me the stick back. "You- she- you just- holy-" Mom took a deep breath. "Like I said, Cleo's in good hands." Alex smiled. "O-ok. D-did you make her th-that?" Mom stuttered. "Yeah. I made her a backup staff." Alex nodded. Mom took another deep breath. "It took me years to build my staff, and I guess... it suits you." She smiled at me. I raised an eyebrow. "It does?" I asked. She nodded. "If someone like Alex is really watching over you, then I guess... it's ok." Mom nodded again. My eyebrows shot up, and Alex raised an eyebrow at my mom. She sighed. "I'm sorry I took that away from you. You... make a great superhero." She said. My eyes softened. "And I'm sorry I ran away." I replied.

Later that night, I pulled Alex into my room. "What the hell!? That was awful! I wasn't ready!" I spat. Alex put her hands on my shoulders. "You were never going to be ready. I know you're mad at me, and I'll take that, but I'm ok knowing that I saved your relationship with your mom." She said. I took a deep shaky breath and rested my head on her shoulder. "That was the most stressful thing I've ever done." I groaned. Alex giggled and patted my head. "Don't worry, babe. It'll get worse." She replied. I looked up at her. "What?" I groaned. "Oh you're not done yet. David and Henry are still out there, and they're plotting, but what I told your mom is true. You aren't in danger." She explained. "Then who is?" I asked. Alex smiled. "You know I can't tell you, babe. Time is delicate like that." She answered. I groaned again and sat down on my bed. "Why do you lead me on with stuff like that?" I asked. "It's amusing to see you spiral." She replied. I smiled and rolled my eyes. "Thanks. Oh! Quick thing! Don't ever call me that again." I spat. "Call you what?" She asked, innocently. "You know what! It's degrading!" I groaned. "Oh. You mean, a good girl?" Alex smirked, and my ears shot back in anger. "Relax. I didn't mean to upset you. Come on! Let's go actually eat dinner." She took my hand. "As long as it's not actually with my mom." I agreed.
