Get Out

Lila's POV
"Mom! When does dad get back from his hero thing? I need his help with something!" Josh complained. Abigail took a deep breath and sighed. "I don't know, Josh. These things take time. We just have to wait." She fiddled with her fingers as she spoke, and Mia tapped my shoulder. "Why isn't he back yet? It's never taken this long." She whispered. I sighed and looked down. "I don't know. I've been trying to call Ella, but she hasn't responded. I think she might be gone too." I admitted. "Do you think something happened to them?" Mia asked. I shrugged. "I'm trying not to think about that." I replied. Mia frowned and looked down. Just then, the front door burst open, and someone tripped through the hallway. "Mom!" Ella shouted. Abigail ran to the hall and gasped when she saw her. I stood up to get a better look as mom walked with Ella out of the hall. "Mom the med... the med..." Ella was panting, and her legs were shaking so badly that she could hardly stand. She was still in uniform, and she was covered in dirt, blood, and sweat. "The med? Ella what happened to you? Are you alright?" Mom held her still, but Ella couldn't respond. She collapsed almost immediately, and mom caught her. "Ella! Lila, call the matrix now!" She shouted. "I got it!" Mia was already calling. "The med! She's was talking about the medical bay at the matrix. We need to bring her there!" I realized. "No one's picking up. Zephyr must be gone." Mia said. "Ok! Everyone in the car! Josh, lock the door on the way out. Lets go!" Mom ran out the door with Ella and we followed.

I used Zane's emergency code to get us in, and we rushed into the matrix together. Charlie and Zed were there, and Zed immediately picked up Ella to bring her to the medical bay. "What the hell happened to her?!" Abigail shouted. "She's fine. She most likely passed out from exhaustion after lugging Trent here by herself." Charlie explained. "What?!" Mom shrieked. "I sent her home to tell you, but I guess she didn't make it. Trent was stabbed in the battle. The knife didn't hit anything critical. It was a pretty short blade, but he lost a lot of blood and he's still recovering." Charlie explained. "Bring me to him." Mom said, and Charlie led the way. We followed them to the medical room. Dad was laying back on the bed with a thick wrap around his waist. "Oh my god!" Mom ran to his side. "Hi honey." He was barely awake, but he smiled at Abigail. She smiled back at him. "Hey you." Her eyes started to water as she leaned down to hug him. He slowly raised his arm to hug her back. "Dad?" I asked. Mom stood up and he looked over at us. "Get them out of here." He whispered. "What?" I asked. "Abigail, get them out of here, now!" Dad snapped. "Kids, wait outside. Go check on Ella." Mom didn't hesitate to push us out. "What? No! Dad!" I tried to walk to him, but mom pushed me back. "Ella? What happened to Ella?!" Dad exclaimed. "Mom why can't we see him?!" I shrieked. Abigail furrowed her brows. "Dammit Lila, I said get out! Go check on your sister! Please!" She yelled. I was taken back, and slowly backed out of the room. "I'm sorry." Mom sighed and closed the door.

We stormed into Ella's room. She was still unconscious, but Zed had cleaned up her face. "Ella... it's always Ella. He's worried about her on his deathbed and won't even spare a second to let us know he's alright!" Mia groaned. "Yeah! He kicks us out, and then forces us to sit in here with her!" Josh rolled his eyes. "You're right. It's not fair, but that doesn't mean you have the right to scream at her while she's unconscious. I'm just as mad as the both of you, but she needs to recover too. We can scream at her when she's awake, but for now, just shut up and sit down!" I ordered. They huffed and hesitantly sat down. I took a deep breath and walked over to Ella's side. Then I rested my hands on the railing, and just stared at her for a moment. Mia went onto her phone, and Josh leaned his head back against the wall, all while I just stared at Ella. The longer I stared, the more I started to shake with rage. I'm not sure how long I was standing there, but Josh was asleep by the time Ella started to stir. It started slow, but it quickly became a thrashing nightmare that made her shoot up out of the bed, panting for breath. "Finally." I spat. She glanced over at me. "Lila? Where am I? What's going on? Where's dad?" She panicked. "In the room next door with mom. He shut us out a while ago, and mom forced us to stay in here with you! Dad didn't even care that we were here for him! He only cared about you! Tell me how that's fair, Ella!" I shouted. Her jaw started to shiver, her eyes flickered all around my face, and the heart monitor started to speed up. "What the hell happened?! Dad leaves for three days! You won't answer any of calls when I need you! And then you come back covered in blood with dad who's been stabbed!" I shouted. The beeping got faster as her eyes widened. "Lila I-" I laughed in her face and she shut up. "You know this is why we don't talk to you! It's why we hate you! Because you're the special superhero daughter! Because you're the favorite! Your needs always come first, especially from dad! And I try so hard to be as civil as I possibly can around you, but then you do shit like this, and all of a sudden, I wish you'd get shot in the field! I wish you weren't a part of this family! I wish I was the oldest sibling! I wish you would just disappear!" I screamed, and panted for breath. The heart monitor was beeping off the charts now, and Ella just stared at me wide-eyed. "And now you have nothing to say. Typical." I spat. She coughed, and I raised an eyebrow. Then she coughed again, and again, until it became more of a gag, and blood started to stream from her mouth. I gasped and jumped back. "Zed!" I shrieked. He ran in and shoved me out of the way to get to Ella. "Oh my god... what did you do?!" He exclaimed. "I didn't mean too- I just-" Zed pointed to the door. "Get out! I need privacy! She could die if I mess this up!" He yelled. My eyes widened and I ran back to the door. Mia noticed, and grabbed Josh to follow me.

About thirty minutes later, the other heroes came back, all with miscellaneous injuries that needed to be treated. "Zane!" I ran over to him and hugged him tightly. "Lila! Hey! Why are you here?" He asked. "My dad is hurt." I explained. "Oh! Right. I heard they sent Ella back with him." He nodded. "Are you alright?" I asked. "Yes, I'm fine. Don't worry babe." He smiled. "Lila Carter!" A barrage of voices echoed across the room full of people. My eyes widened in fear, as The Arrows shoved their way through the crowd to get to me. Retro walked right up to me and punched me across the face. I yelped and held my jaw. "Woah! Hey!" Zane stepped in front of me. "Move, Zane! That bitch nearly killed my girlfriend!" She shouted. Zane was taken back. "What?" He asked. "You didn't tell him? Allow me, then. Your girlfriend was with Ella when she woke up in a panic. Instead of helping to calm her down, that snake ass bitch decided to scream at her, and promptly ignored the heart monitor racing behind her. She gave Ella a fucking heart attack!" Retro exclaimed. Zane slowly turned back to me. "Is this true?" He asked. "I never meant to hurt her! I didn't think she'd start coughing up blood! I would've never hurt her on purpose!" I replied. "Really? Because the camera footage says otherwise. I heard everything you said to her, and you're lucky you're her sister, or else you'd be dust by now." Retro growled. Zane was appaled by her words. "Babe, please. Let me explain." I begged. "Don't." He took a step back. My eyes widened in fear. "I need you to leave the matrix. You'll see your father when he comes home, but you are not authorized to be here right now. So I need you to leave." He ordered. My eyes watered. "Babe-" I reached out my hand, but he slapped it away. "Here, my name is Router. You don't get to call me that anymore. Not after you tried to kill my friend. Now get out." He snarled. My breath hitched in my throat as I walked away. "What have I done?" I whined.
