Zephyr's POV
God forbid I have one night off. This was the first night that I had off in three months, and I took the time to spend the night with my girlfriend. "Gypsy, no marks! You know how my dad feels about you." I giggled. She smiled against my neck and kissed up to my lips. "You're a Glitchen, baby. Just change your skin to cover it." She shrugged. "But that's so much work." I pouted. Gypsy chuckled and kissed me again. I ran my hands up to the sides of her face and she wrapped her wing around us. Her hand started to slide down to my waistband right when my phone rang. I groaned against her lips and she smiled. Gypsy rolled her eyes with a laugh as I grabbed my phone. "Is it your dad?" She asked. "No. It's the new hire." I huffed and answered the call. "What do you want, Santana?" I asked, annoyed. "Um... Gold just came in and gave me some really... interesting things and I don't know what to do with it." She said. "Ask Zane. That's why I left you with him." I huffed. "He hasn't gotten back from his date yet! I'm alone! And he's not answering." She exclaimed. I took a deep breath and sighed. "What did he bring you?" I asked. "She brought me a super band and a tiny camera." Santana said. "She? The adults aren't scheduled till tomorrow night." I replied, confused. "Yeah, that's a whole thing that I don't want to explain right now. Just help me." Santana said. I sighed heavily and looked over at Gypsy. "Kay. Be there soon." I groaned. "Thanks Zephyr." She hung up. Gypsy sighed. "There's always something." She smiled. "I'm sorry. You know I'd rather be here with you." I whined. "I know babe." She sat up and wrapped her wing around me. I leaned my head onto her shoulder. "Just once I'd like to ruffle your feathers a little." I smirked. She laughed and flapped her other wing. "You do that on the daily. I'll see you at school tomorrow, honey." Gypsy smiled. I sighed and kissed her cheek. "Thanks for understanding." I hugged her and then stood up. "Ok. Help me find my other sock." I said.

The elevator announced my arrival as the door opened. "Welcome, Zephyr Matrix, junior CEO." The voice said. I groaned and stormed into the lab. "I'm here! What did you find?" I yelled. Santana and Gold walked up to me. I raised an eyebrow at Gold. "Oh... that's what you meant." I just stared at her for a moment. Gold smiled nervously. "I'm Sky." She said. I blinked a few times. "All I see is more paperwork for me, but congrats, I guess." I shrugged. "This is one of the power bands that was stolen the other night. Sky says it's a super band." Santana handed it to me. I examined the metal wrist band and ran my finger over the buttons. "It is. These are only permitted for adults twenty one and older, which explains why they stole them. Most bands only hold one ability, but these hold insane amounts of power. They're not safe for teenagers to use. Who was wearing this?" I asked. "The twin boy." Sky answered. I nodded. "Ok. This too?" I took the camera. "Yeah, as far as we know." Sky nodded. "This is good. I can use the footage to track it back to him. As for this, it's practically garbage. Once a power band is activated, it can't be returned. It's not like any of our parents need one so... try to sell it online or something. I don't care. Just get rid of it." I shoved it back in Santana's hands. "You can go, Sky. Thank you for this. Santana, follow me. I'm gonna show you how to look through this camera." I said. "Have a nice night, girls." Sky waved bye and left. Santana followed me to my lab.

As I plugged the camera into my computer, Santana only smirked at me. "Why are you looking at me like that? You know I'm not interested in your whore life." I huffed. "Oh I know, cause apparently you have your own." She pointed at me and I froze. "What do you mean?" I whispered, and glanced over at her. "You have a hickey, Zephyr." She giggled. I took a deep breath and put my hands over my mouth. "I'm dead." I mumbled. "What?" Santana asked. "Yeah you are!" My dad teleported out of the security camera in the corner. "Ah! Gabe! Jesus Christ!" Santana jumped. Dad stormed over to me. "You saw Gypsy again, didn't you?" He snapped. "She's my girlfriend. Of course I did!" I spat. "You know I don't like that girl. She's a bad influence on you!" He snapped. "And I told you that I don't care!" I snapped back. We stood there, glaring at each other for a moment. "Um... can we get back to the thing?" Santana asked. Gabe looked at her and I sighed. "Yes. Thank you, Santana." I turned back to my computer. Before I could touch it, my dad hit the spacebar and the camera footage came up on the screen. "I was getting there, dad." I spat. "It's one button, Z. Play the clip." He huffed. I groaned to myself and pressed play.

The beginning of the footage was the twin talking to his boss. "You just want me to stand there?" He asked. "I want you to lure them out. Put up a good fight. The better we understand their fighting techniques, the more of a chance we'll stand." The girl with the pink wings clipped the camera onto his shirt. "But what if I get caught?" He asked. "Well that's tough fucking shit, isn't it? Besides, I'll have the footage whether I have you or not. Now go." She waved him off. "But boss-" She turned around and slapped him. "Leave, Lucas! Don't make me tell you again!" She growled. He shrunk under her words. "Yes ma'am." He ran off.

"Ouch! What a bitch." Santana huffed. "His name is Lucas, but without a last name or his full face, that means nothing." I groaned. "Not nothing. Blaire likes to toy with them before she attacks. I bet she could really disturb him if she called him his real name." Santana suggested. "Hurricane has gotten hurt more than once by using that tactic. It's dangerous and I won't ask her to do that." Gabe said. I ignored him and turned to Santana. "Call her now. Have her do it next time he comes out. That could actually work." I nodded. Santana smiled and walked away to call Blaire. "Zephyr, I said no." Gabe said. I turned back to him. "This is my department, dad. You and Arc control your technology business, but I run the super hero lab. I run the matrix, and I tell the young supers what to do. You can micromanage Paws and her team all you want, but this is my domain. The one you put me in charge of, so please, let me do my job." I snarled. Gabe sighed and looked to the side. "You do an excellent job here, Zephyr. I could never doubt that. I just don't want anyone getting hurt, again." He explained. I nodded. "I don't either. Just trust me on this dad." I said. He sighed again. "Ok, but don't think I've forgotten about Gypsy. We will be talking about this again later." He pointed at me. "I don't doubt it." I rolled my eyes. Gabe zapped away through the camera again and I took a deep breath. "I'm gonna kill myself." I whispered.

Santana walked back over to me. "You know why he hates her right?" She asked. "Cause he likes seeing me suffer. No, why?" I asked. "Two reasons. One, her wings look a lot like Pink Wings in the robbers. I mean, I've literally seen your girlfriend trip on air so I know it's not her, but! It's very similar." She explained. "Gypsy wouldn't hurt a fly! Literally! She feeds the rats in her apartment. And she doesn't have dog ears and a tail like Pink Wings does." I replied. "Exactly! And the second thing, is that she acts like my mom!" Santana laughed. "Your mom and my dad are practically siblings. What do you mean?" I asked. "No, not Apollo. Aurelia! Gabe hates her, and Gypsy acts just like her. You're dating the very person he thought he got away from when you guys moved out of the basement. She's the walking proof that someone could be smarter than him in a way that isn't technological." Santana explained. My eyes widened. "That... actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks Santana." I said. "Of course. So who's gonna be backup for Hurricane?" She asked. "Oh! Ha! You are." I smiled. "What?!" She shrieked. "Oh yeah. Being a backup super hero is in your job description. You should have read the fine print. If I were you, I'd go make a super suit. The default black ones are really itchy." I smiled, patted her shoulder, and walked away.
