Bailey's POV
I remember when that happened to me. Everyone thought it was so great that I got my powers at a young age, but light isn't always good. It's one of the hardest powers to control, and just because I have the power of light, doesn't mean I'm immune to it. It still hurts like hell to be blinded by my own light. So I know exactly how Max feels. Mom and dad were overjoyed for him though, and helped him right away. So I let him have his space, and went back to the live room. "Is he ok? Is your dad helping him?" Connor asked. "He's fine! Chill out!" I shrugged it off. "But he seemed like he was in pain! Do you hurt when you use your magic?" He asked. The others joined around me. "We just want to make sure he's alright, Bails." Addison said. "He's fine! And yes, sometimes it can hurt if you're not paying attention, or if you don't know how to use it properly. That's why he was in pain. He's going to be fine though, so please stop with the questions! And please don't do this when he comes back, because I already know he's gonna hate this." I snapped. They were taken back. "Sorry." Connor sighed. "I get that you're worried, but it's fine. Max is ok." I assured him. "Yeah, and if you don't stop asking questions, I'll show you just how much pain he's in!" Sky snapped. I looked over at her, shocked. "Woah! Ok! Fine! Way to go Zill on me." Connor frowned and walked away. "Well she is my mom." Sky rolled her eyes. "You didn't have to do that." I huffed. "Sure I did. It's the least I can do for making you cry at homecoming." She replied. I smiled. "I actually should thank you for that. Telling you the truth is actually helping me to come to terms with it." I admitted. Sky smiled. "You're welcome, then." She said.

When Max came back from mom and dad, he was still wearing the power cuff. "Do you need me to take it off?" I asked. "No! I uh... I still can't control my powers. I was able to get the burning to stop, but I can't get the light beams from my eyes to stop." He explained. "Oh! Flashlight eyes! Yeah, those are a bitch. Try blinking a lot. It helps." I suggested. "Thanks, and thanks for saving me earlier." He smiled. "No problem, now go see your girlfriend." I smirked. He blushed and walked over to his room. I smiled as he walked away and suddenly, I felt strange. Max was able to face both of his biggest issues in one day, and now he's happier than I've ever seen him. He has his powers and he has Blaire. "Bailey?" Sky tapped my shoulder. "Ah! Huh? What?" I jumped. "You're just staring at the wall. Are you ok?" She asked. "Oh! Uh... yes. You have magic, right? Can you call everyone out here?" I asked. "Um, sure. If you want." She shrugged. Then she waved her hand and everyone's bedroom door flung open. "What the hell?! Sky! Was that you?" Dylan snapped. "Yes. Bailey needs all of your attention." Sky said. "Dude! I was changing! What gives?!" Riley stormed out of her room. "Sorry. Just gather around." Sky said. Everyone walked over to us and I took a deep breath. "I have something to tell you all." I started. Sky raised an eyebrow and I exhaled deeply. "The reason I came back this year isn't just because I missed you guys. It's because I'm a fraud." I admitted. They were all taken back in confusion. "I flunked out of that fancy school I was sent to. I haven't been in New York studying in higher classes. I was there in public schools, hiding from you all, because I felt like I failed you." I explained. "What? Bailey! You didn't fail us. We would have understood." Addison put her hand on my shoulder. "I know that now. I was just so proud when I left. I was disappointed in myself, and I thought you would be too. I'm sorry I lied, but I was scared." I shrugged. Addy smiled. "It's ok, Bailey. You know that doesn't matter to us." She hugged me. I smiled and hugged her back. "Plus, you're still smarter than your brother." Dylan added. "Ha! Yeah, but that's nothing new." I laughed. Addy pulled away. "Thanks for understanding, guys." I smiled. "Why was I called to this? I hardly know you. I don't care." Riley huffed. I rolled my eyes and looked over at her. "Oh please. You know you love being here with us." I smirked. She huffed a laugh. "Love is a strong word." Riley replied. I laughed and shook my head. "Whatever. Go back to your room, then. That was it." I waved them off.

It made me feel so much better to get that off my chest. I laid down in my bed and scrolled through my phone as we waited for Retro and Ella to get back. Suddenly though, my door opened, and I figured it was just Max, so I didn't say anything. The door closed and the person walked up behind me. "Very impressive." I heard. The glare on my phone reflected Sky from behind me. I turned it off and turned around to face her. "What?" I asked. "I guess you're not a liar anymore." She smirked. I sat up in my bed. "I shouldn't have kept it from them in the first place. You were right before." I sighed. "Of course I was, but you were too." She replied. "Huh?" I raised an eyebrow. Sky bent down to face me. "I do like you." She admitted. My face grew hot. "Oh! Oh... I'm not lying anymore." I realized. She smiled. "Mhm. I know homecoming got cut short, but may I have this dance?" She held out her hand. I giggled and took it. "But there's no music in here." I said. "Why's that matter?" Sky laughed. She pulled me out of bed and spun me underneath her arm. I giggled and wrapped my arms around her neck. "Thanks for helping me, Sky." I said. She smiled at me. "Thank you, Bailey, for accepting me." She replied.

Retro's POV
We arrived at the matrix, and rushed to Zephyr's office. "We found something!" I shrieked. Zephyr jumped in her chair as we burst down the door. "Is that a water bottle?" She asked. "Look closer." I tossed it to her and she caught it. Her eyes widened as she saw the feather. "Holy shit! This is amazing! You guys did it!" She cheered. "Mmm... did they?" We heard. We all looked over as Kai dropped out of a portal. "No! Don't ruin this moment with your demonic bullshit!" Zephyr pointed at her. "Oh please! You think I know what that thing is? I'm just a messenger for the Fates." Kai shrugged. "You're just a puppy on Cal's leash." Ella corrected her. "If you weren't dating Astro's daughter, I'd kill you right now." Kai snapped. "We're not dating!" I shouted, and Ella was taken back. Kai laughed in our faces. "Sure you aren't. Anyway! Cal wanted to warn you." She said. "Me? Is it because I called Alex to kill the dinotron?" I asked. "Huh? No. Not you. Not everything is about you, Retro! For you, Zephyr." Kai replied. I frowned and Zephyr raised an eyebrow. "Me? I hardly talk to the Fates. What did I do?" She asked. "It's not what you've done, but what you may do." Kai's hair caught fire and her eyes started glowing. "Test this evidence at your own risk, for you may not like the result. And when the truth comes forward, your choices will determine who lives, and who dies. Be extremely cautious moving forward. You never really know who you can trust." She smiled and Zephyr was taken back in fear. I rolled my eyes and walked over to Kai. I flicked her in the eye and she cut the act. "Ah! Hey!" Her hair flared at me. "Oh stop that! You can't use scare tactics on our friends. Save that for your servants at the palace. You're not our monarch, Kai." I huffed. She rolled her eyes. "Let me have fun! Ugh! You're so lucky you're related to my girlfriend!" She opened a portal and jumped back into hell. When the portal closed, I looked back at Zephyr. "Don't take what she said too seriously. The gods are always trying to scare us mortals. You just have to look past it and remember who they are outside of that title." I said. "Thanks, Orange. Go ahead back to your HQ. I'll call you all back here later." Zephyr said, and we left.

Ella laughed as we left. "Oh I love watching you stand up to the gods! You're like... the only person that actually can! It's hilarious!" She chuckled. "Perks of being a mortal Fate." I shrugged. "How come you said we weren't dating back there? I thought you didn't care if people thought that." She said. I looked over at her confused. "I thought you said it was bad." I replied. "Retro, I meant what I said. I like you! And I really do want to try this." Ella smiled. "Try this? You say it like I'm some new restaurant for you to test." I snapped. "What? No! That's not what I meant and you know that. Come on, Retro! What's the matter?" She asked. I looked down. "I just... I've wanted this forever, and now... it doesn't feel real." I admitted. "You want real?" Ella asked. Then she grabbed my face and kissed me. It was quick, and she practically jumped away from me after she did it, but it made me freeze. "Holy Hades! I actually did that!" She slapped a hand over her mouth. I smiled and walked over to her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to jump on you like that." She panicked. I just smiled at her. "Thanks for clearing up the rumors." I told her. She huffed a laugh. "Thanks for making them." She shrugged. "Ready to go home?" I asked. "With you? Always." She smiled.
