A Message

Cal's POV
"Hey!" I walked up to Kai as she came in. "Hi baby." She kissed my cheek. "Hi. I wanted to talk to you. You know, I saw that conversation you had with Quinn and Emma. You could have just told me you didn't wanna go. I wouldn't have made you!" I said. Her eyebrows shot up. "I know, honey. I just like complaining. I see why mortals do it. It's so fun! No, I don't mind going up as your messenger, dear. Anything to get me out of hell for a minute." She laughed. I smiled and kissed her. "Ok. I love you." I told her. "I love you too." She replied. Suddenly, Lemmy came running out of the seeing room and right up to me. "What? What's going on?" I asked. She took a deep breath and looked up at me, concerned. "It's Retro." She said. "What could that girl possibly need now? I told her almost all of the major events." I groaned. Lemmy nodded. "They got the message." I realized. She nodded again and rolled her eyes. "Their parents don't believe it, do they?" I asked. She pointed at me and shook her head. Then she looked up at me confused. "Oh yeah! Marlow is teaching me how to read your eye language. You should be glad! I'm starting to like your girlfriend." I smirked. Lemmy just stared at me and blinked in concern. Then she opened a portal. "Alex! Let's go visit the fam!" I yelled. She walked out of the string room and joined us as we went through the portal.

"All four of you?!" Retro shrieked when she saw us. "Hello cousin, and hi aunt Astro!" I waved to her, and Astro waved from across the room. "Ok, well you get my point! They're here! Obviously what they said was true! You have to go!" Retro urged them. Gold looked over at us. "You really think that we should help this other Earth? How would we even get there?" She asked. "Arc and Gabe have the technology to build your portal, and Charlie and Zed have the knowledge to make it stable." I explained. "Can you play the message? They refuse to tell me what this is all about." Kai said, and we rolled our eyes. Gold shrugged and picked up a flash drive. "This fell out of a portal about twenty minutes ago." She plugged it in and played the video. The beginning glitched a few times before it finally started, and a very young woman appeared. "Is that you?" Kai asked, looking over at Zill. Her face grew red and she looked away. The young Zill straightened out the camera and then sat back in a chair. "Ok, uh... are you sure about this?" She asked. "Just do what we rehearsed!" Another woman snapped, and Zill sighed. "Hi! Earth thirty one! My name is Sarah, and I'm from Earth twenty six. We could really use your help right now. You see, we're kinda in the midst of a war, and our resistance is falling apart. We started looking into getting help from other Earths thanks to our demon allies, and your Earth has the most interdimensional travel frequencies. So we thought maybe it'd be easier for you to get here and help us? If you'd be so kind! Since I'll be the one opening the portal, I assume this video will land with the other version of me. So if you could lend a hand, we could really use some extra power right now." Sarah explained. "That was not the script." The other woman said. "I forgot!" Sarah whined, and it cut out.

My sisters and I laughed at the video. "She's so stupid." I chuckled. Astro walked to us. "I don't have the power to authenticate that video anymore, but I trust my daughter. So if she says that you told them to believe it, then I will stand with you, but you might have to tell them more." She explained. "No problem, Astro. The video is real, and it is from Earth twenty six. Universe twenty six is extremely far behind this one, time wise. That's why you're young in the video. Zill, you lead a resistance against the ongoing takeover of that world. It's been going on for ages, and it just so happens that it's fallen upon your generation now." I explained. "That's insane! You want us to go up against an entire army with some small resistance made of teenage versions of ourselves?!" Gold shrieked. "If you and Paws' team help fight this war, it will be over in no time, and this world will become a powerful ally against your foes in the future." I looked at Retro. Her eyebrows shot up. "My foes?" She asked, and I nodded. "If you want your children-" I looked at Gold. "Your grandchildren, to survive in the future, you need to help these people now." I explained. Gold looked at Zill and took a deep breath. "Ok. We'll do it." She agreed. "If I'm good on that Earth, does that mean Apollo is evil... again?" Zill asked. My sisters and I laughed, and ignored the question. "Retro, order your team to stay put. Let the adults handle this unless they call for your help. I'm not certain that they will, but only if they do, can your team help." I told her. She nodded. "Ok, Cal." She agreed. "Alex, go tell Paws about the problem. Lemmy, go to the matrix to tell Gabe. The rest of you, get ready! You have a war to join!" I smiled.

"You're kidding." Gabe wasn't happy about building a portal. All the adults gathered at the matrix to devise a plan. We came just to clear up confusion. "No kidding! Start building." I waved him off and he groaned to himself. "They have demons in other universes?" Kai asked. I raised an eyebrow. "You don't pay attention when your mom talks, don't you?" I asked. She shook her head with a smile, and I rolled my eyes. "Other universes have heaven and hell, but they don't have gods. Unless we choose to go there for whatever reason. You should really know this." I groaned. "I focus on my own universe, thank you. Actually, my own realm. I don't know what the fuck they do in heaven, and frankly I don't care." Kai shrugged. "That's fair enough." I agreed. "Hey! Young Fates!" Apollo called us. We looked over at her. "How long is this gonna take?" She asked. "It'll be longer if you don't get to work." I huffed. "I'm not a mechanic! Look, I just don't wanna leave the kids alone for too long." She explained. "We'll make sure Santana doesn't throw a party in your house." Kai told her. "That's not... ok. Whatever. Thanks." She sighed and turned around. "Hey!" I called her and she looked back at me. "They'll be fine. You should be preparing yourself, Apollo. You will be one of the biggest threats in this world. Make sure you're ready for that." I warned her. "Yeah! As I recall, things didn't go so well the last time you fought yourself." Alex smirked. Apollo's eyes widened. "Relax. Go back to planning." I waved her away. She walked away nervously. "Why would you tell her that?" Kai asked. "Because they're already doomed to fail. I'm just setting the playing field for their kids." I smirked.
