Kat's POV
I laid back in bed, panting for breath. "Oh my god-" I exhaled. Quinn laid down beside me, and lifted her elbow to rest her head in her hand. "Did I meet your smutty mafia book expectations?" She smirked. I put my hands over my face as I blushed, and laughed. "Yes. Fantastically!" I answered. I turned over and wrapped my arm around her. Quinn pulled me into her and kissed my forehead. "I never thought I'd be here with you." She chuckled. I smiled against her chest. "I'm so happy you're my wife." I replied. "Yeah. Me too." Quinn smiled. We laid there in silence for a moment, before a thought sprang to my mind. "Do you want to have a family?" I asked. "What?!" Quinn laughed and backed up to face me. "Seriously. I can make it happen. As a Tublo, I don't need a man to get me pregnant. In fact, I don't even need to be a woman!" I explained. "Wha- why? Why would you want that right now? You're seventeen! I'm eighteen!" She shrieked. "I turn eighteen pretty soon. Don't make it weird." I huffed. "Weird?! You want to have a kid!" She exclaimed. "Ok. I'm taking that as a no on my previous question." I sighed. "What- babe! I would love to have a family when we're older, but you're still in high school! I'm still getting used to this new world! You live in a basement with your dad, and I live in this apartment with two idiots. There's no way we could do that." She shook her head. "I have enough credit to graduate early, actually, and since this isn't my true form, I won't get a baby bump." I explained. Quinn sat up and put her head in her hands. "Do you even hear how crazy you sound right now? No! I don't want to do that, Kat. I'm sorry." She stood up and started putting on her pants. "Quinn, wait. I'm sorry! I just-" She pulled on her hoodie and ran out. Then I dropped my head into the pillow and groaned to myself.
"You did what?!" Lizz shrieked. I shrugged. "I don't see the big deal." I huffed. We were sitting at the restaurant attached to the arcade. Our cousin Ritz was supposed to join us, but she's late. "You asked your teenage girlfriend, who's already going through the whole swapped universe and marriage thing, to have a child with you? Have you lost your goddamn mind?!" She shouted, and I looked around to make sure no one was looking. "Why would you even want a kid? That's crazy! Dad would kill you." Lizz said. "All my life, I've been helping everybody with shit that I could care less about! I've been rushing for so long, Lizz. Rushing into battle. Into portals. Into work. Into school. I can't do it anymore! Who am I if not the portal person?! I need something. Something that's mine. Something I can care about and nurture at my own pace with my wife! Is that so bad to want?" I asked. Lizz wiped her hands down her face. "There are other ways to get what you're seeking, Kat. Maybe having a kid would slow down the other things in your life, but it also takes away all of the opportunities you have! Not to mention it wouldn't be at your pace. It's at the kids pace, and you know Tublo babies move fast!" She exclaimed.
"What are we talking about?" Ritz sat down with us. Lizz glared at me, and then smiled at Ritz. "Nothing! Look at you! Settling nicely I see. You look mighty comfortable in human form." She noted. "It's fine, I guess. Earth school is so weird though. You guys make up the weirdest shit, and then call it history or science." She laughed. "Just ignore it. It's all wrong." I shrugged. "How's aunt Blaze?" Lizz asked. "She's fine. Since I'm her daughter, I get an extension on my marriage deadline, though it's not looking so bright for me. You guys got lucky with your circumstances. I don't ever run into those kinds of coincidences." Ritz laughed. I squinted at her. "I was kidnapped." I told her. Her eyebrows shot up, and Lizz rolled her eyes. "Anyway, I heard something about a baby when I came in?" She asked. Lizz glared at me again and I sighed. "I asked my wife if she wanted to have a kid." I shrugged. Ritz raised an eyebrow. "So?" She asked. "So?! What do you mean 'so?' That's an insane ask!" Lizz shrieked. "Not really. Most Tublo's have children at eighteen." Ritz shrugged. "Ok, well humans don't! And her wife has been through enough!" Lizz exclaimed. "The wife that kidnapped you?" Ritz asked, and I nodded. "I say go for it." She shrugged. "What?! How can you- ugh!" Lizz groaned, and I rolled my eyes. "She's worried that I'm giving up my life." I explained. "You're not. We're the most advanced species in the universe as far as I'm concerned, so how hard could it be? Besides, as long as you have the right people around to help you and care for you, who cares? Tublos are not hard to raise. I should know. I babysit a lot." Ritz laughed. "But Quinn freaked out when I suggested it." I said. "She's human. Of course she did." She shrugged. "Kat. What were you doing when you asked her?" Lizz asked. I blushed and looked over at her. "Uh huh, and that's the first time right? You guys have been struggling to be together and to actually be in love for a long time. And what did you do the very second that you accomplished that? You threw her aside to make room for a new loved one." Lizz explained. My eyebrows shot up in shock. "Maybe you should focus on loving your wife before you shift focus to a baby!" Lizz snapped. "She's got a point there." Ritz agreed. "That's the only point I had?" Lizz asked. I stood up. "I gotta find Quinn. I'll see you later." I sighed. "I just got here!" Ritz groaned, and I walked away.
Quinn's POV
After I got dressed properly, and Kat left, I just sat at home, angrily switching between tv channels. Cory and Casey both asked about me already, but I brushed them off and sent them to work. As I moped by myself though, I started to feel like someone was watching me. "Invisibility is a cruel thing to do to your wife." I spat. "Oh dearest me! I wasn't aware we were married!" Kai appeared and plopped down beside me on the couch. "Whatever will I tell Cal? My beloved girlfriend!" She gasped dramatically. "Why are you here?" I spat. "To put out some fires. I heard my bestie isn't doing so well." She sat upright and propped her feet up on the coffee table. "Kat wants a baby." I growled. "Huh- early, but ok." Kai shrugged. "No! Not ok, Kai! That's crazy!" I exclaimed. She raised an eyebrow. "She's an alien. It's actually pretty normal." She admitted. "I already married her because she's an alien! I moved universes to be here with her! I gave up everything just for her! And now she has the nerve to ask for more?!" I yelled. Kai's eyes softened. "It's not about you, Quinn. I doubt she's taken that into account." She huffed. "Am I not enough for her?" I asked. Kai raised an eyebrow again. "You're a god. Can't you tell me whether I'm enough for her?" I whimpered. Kai took a deep breath. "Kat loves you, Quinn. I can't read her emotions, but I know she loves you." She replied. I sighed heavily. "What do I do?" I asked. "Tell her how you feel. If she really cares, she'll listen." Kai shrugged. I took a deep breath and dropped my head. "You'll be ok, Quinn. Can't wait to meet the little one!" Kai stood up and disappeared. "Wait- what?!" I shrieked, but she was already gone.
When Kat came back, I stood up to face her. "Hey! Quinn! I'm so sorry! I never meant to throw that on you! I was just in the moment, and I wasn't thinking, and I'm so so sorry." She ran over to me. "Honestly, Kat. It kinda made me feel like I wasn't good enough for you. I've given so much for you, but you still need more?" I asked. "No! No I don't! You are more than enough for me, Quinn. I appreciate everything you've done for me, and I love you so much." She took my hands in hers. "Why do you even want a kid?" I asked. She just stared at me for a minute. "I don't want to just be the world switcher anymore. I want to have something... I want us to have something." She squeezed my hands. I looked down at them and smiled softly. "Do you think it would get your dad to stop calling me the mafia dog?" I asked. Kat chuckled. "Oh honey... no." She giggled. I laughed with her. "Why don't we start with something more simple? Like a house." I suggested. "You hate living with your friends, don't you?" She smirked. "I regret it everyday." I nodded. Kat smiled. "Good with me! Apollo and Aurelia are adopting a new kid, and I am not sharing the basement with her." She agreed. "Perfect! And when we're living together, then you can have what you want." I said. "What? Quinn no. You don't have to do that. I won't force you to do that." Kat shook her head with worry. "I know, but I can't miss a chance to piss off your dad." I smirked. "And Lizz! She hates this idea." Kat added. "Even better!" I pulled Kat closer to me and kissed her. "I love you." She whispered. "I love you too." I replied.
