Zephyr's POV
The school was shut down for a week so they could repair the damages from the dinotron. Only a few days after it happened, did Arc set up the dining room table for us. "Is someone coming for dinner, dad?" I asked. "Yes! And they'll be here any minute." He smiled. "What?! You didn't tell me about this!" Gabe overheard us. Arc smirked and turned to him. "Well since you get to make decisions about our family without consulting me, I figured that I have the same right." He said, innocently. "What are you talking about?" Gabe asked. "Ground her again without my approval, and I will suspend you. Don't forget who runs this company, Gabriel." Arc snarled, and walked past him. Dad stood there in shock for a moment and then ran after him. "Arc, wait! I'm sorry!" He said. I watched them walk away as the doorbell rang.
I sighed and went to the door. When I opened it, I was greeted by a very nervous looking Gypsy. "Hi." She smiled. "Hi!" I said, shocked. "Hello! Let us in!" Techna jumped up behind Gypsy. "Oh! Hello, Ms. Green." I stepped aside and let them in. Techna walked off to find my dads. "What the hell?!" I whisper-yelled. "I don't know! Your dad came to my house and invited me over specifically!" Gypsy explained. "Arc is mad at Gabe right now. I bet this is just revenge for him." I replied. "Then let's hope we survive dinner." Gypsy groaned and we walked back to the dining room.
Arc made Gypsy and I sit right next to each other. Techna sat across from her daughter, and Zane sat across from me. My dads sat at either head of the table. Zane raised an eyebrow at me and I just shrugged. "So! This is really fucking uncomfortable. Why the fuck did you ask us here?" Techna asked. Arc smiled at her. "The counter only goes up every time I see you, Tech. I asked you here today for two reasons. You are here because two of your old dinotrons were activated a few days ago." Arc explained. Techna and Gypsy both choked. "What?!" Techna shrieked. "Mom? I thought you destroyed them!" Gypsy exclaimed. "I did! They were beyond repair!" Techna shrugged. "But they still existed? They remained intact?" Gabe asked. "Mostly, yes. You of all people know how hard it is to break those fucking things. I figured they'd never work again! Plus, they're all at Titus's old warehouse. It's private property. The only people permitted there have to be run by me or Vlad, and he keeps good watch over it." Techna explained. "It's still possible that someone snuck by him though." Gabe said. "Hypothetically, yes. I guess that's possible." Techna shrugged. "We'll have to investigate it. See if anything is missing, or if there are any clues." Gabe replied. "What?! Mom, you can't seriously let them back there. You know how dangerous it is!" Gypsy exclaimed. "They've been there before, hun." Techna told her. "They have?" Gypsy asked. Gabe's eyebrows shot up and he looked at me. "You didn't tell her?" He asked. I shook my head. "I'm not an idiot, dad. I can keep a secret." I huffed. He seemed shocked. "Tell me what?" Gypsy looked over at me. "I'll explain everything later. Now's not the time." I said. She nodded and looked away.
"And the other reason I asked you here is to welcome Gypsy to our family!" Arc announced. "What?!" Gypsy and I stood up in horror. Gabe seemed disgusted. "What? You've been dating for a while now. I figure it's about time." Arc shrugged. "How long have you two been together again?" Techna asked. Gypsy and I shared a glance and blushed. We sat down and dropped our heads. "If this is the game you want to play, Arc, then fine. How did you two meet, Gypsy?" Gabe snarled. She looked up at him in a panic. I snatched her hand under the table and squeezed it. "We've been together for a year." I answered Techna. "And we met in Physics." Gypsy answered Gabe. "You take advanced classes too?" Gabe asked. "Come on, Gabe. She's my fucking daughter! You know she has all the same smarts as us." Techna smirked. "Well, her father wasn't very intelligent, was he?" Gabe huffed. "Fuck you. That was unnecessary." Techna frowned. Gypsy let go of my hand and looked down. "Yeah... I'm in advanced classes." She nodded. "So who made the first move?" Arc smirked. My face grew warmer. "She did. She's always so... forward. I thought it was admirable." I admitted. Gypsy smiled and looked over at me. "Admirable? I thought the same thing when you threw up on our first date." She smirked. I looked away, embarrassed. "I told you not to talk about that. The rides at the fair were really rickety, ok?" I groaned. She giggled. "The fair?" Techna asked, stunned. "Isn't that how you met her dad?" Gabe asked. Gypsy went stiff again and I took both of her hands in mine. "Yeah. That asshole couldn't even hit a balloon with a dart." Techna laughed. Gypsy's wings started to fold in around her face. "No, no, babe it's ok." I whispered. "We warned you about him." Gabe noted. "Will you stop it!" Zane shouted. He stood up and slammed his hands on the table. Everyone looked over at him. "Can you not see what you're doing to her?!" He snapped. They looked over at Gypsy. "You need to learn to speak about your father." Techna said. "How can I speak about him after what he did to you? Especially when I look just like him!" Gypsy stood and fanned out her wings. "That was your choice! I know he was a bad guy! But I can joke about it. You should be able to, too." Techna snapped. Gypsy took a deep breath and looked at Arc. "It was nice to officially meet you sir. Thank you for having me." She stormed off, and I followed her.
"Well that went south quickly." I huffed. "He did that on purpose. You know that right?" Gypsy snapped. "I figured." I nodded. "Is that why he hates me? Because I have my fathers wings? Because I'm not like him!" She exclaimed. "I know you're not." I replied. "He always treated everyone like they were lesser than him! Especially my mom! No one was ever good enough for him! And when she left him, I was only a child! I'm nothing like my dad!" She cried out. Gypsy gripped at her head and looked down. I sighed and walked up to her. "I know that, babe. I'm just sorry that I can't make my dad think that too. Why don't you have your mom talk to him?" I asked. "You think I haven't tried? How do you think he found out that you had been sneaking over? My mom doesn't think it's too bad of an issue, so she doesn't care!" She explained. I frowned. "What did she mean when she said it was your choice? To look like your dad?" I asked. "Oh, I actually have my moms dog mutant parts. The ears and the tail. I just keep them hidden because I don't like being the know-it-all that my mom is." She explained. I smiled at her. "You're nothing like your mom either, and not just because you can go a whole day without cursing." I said. She laughed a little. "Thanks babe. What now?" She asked. "Now I tell you about my little secret. My whole family? My dads company? We're superheroes." I smiled.
