Sky's POV
Bailey drove me home from school, while the others all went in their vehicles. "How come your mom wouldn't let you drive today? You need all the practice you can get!" Bailey said. "Yeah, but The Arrows had a meeting at the matrix this morning. Didn't you notice Zane and Zephyr were absent?" I asked. "No, I didn't. I hardly ever see Zephyr, and Ella has forced me to side with her sister about the breakup, so I don't really look out for Zane." She shrugged. "I guess there was something weird about their mission last night." I explained. "Oh, that reminds me! Are we still on for our date tonight?" Bailey smirked. "Yes, of course. Though I feel like you're not listening to me right now." I admitted. "I am, but my mom has told Max and I time and again that we need to stay out of her business. They're on a different team than we are. Just because we live together, and we help each other a lot, doesn't change the fact that we're separate." She explained. "That sounds harsh." I huffed. "Nah. She just wants us to be independent. The point is, I try not to pry into our parents' hero lives. They already have enough stress being ex-villains and everything." She shrugged. "I guess you're right." I agreed. Bailey smiled and pulled up outside of HQ. "I gotta go to work, but I'll see you tonight." She kissed my cheek. "Love you!" She smiled. "Love you too." I replied, and got out of the car.

As I walked to the live room, Addison joined me in the hallway. "Oh hey! I thought I was first." I smiled. "Dylan is cooking something, but I'm not even really sure what it is. We've been in the kitchen for at least twenty minutes." She sighed. I laughed and opened the door for her. Right when we came in, our moms were there waiting for us. We stopped. "Mom? What's going on?" I asked. "Come sit, girls." Red called us over and we sat down in our rolling chairs. "So uh, something strange happened last night, and you two could be in danger." Gold explained. "What? Why?!" I shrieked. "There's an old man that's searching for Gold and I. We believe that he's our father." Red explained. "How's that even possible?" Addy asked. "We're not sure. Trust me, I didn't want to believe it either, but the evidence is leaning towards it." Gold replied. "This guy. He tried to attack us last night with these two kids that were with him. Your mom's saved us, but he could strike again, and that means he could go after you." Red explained. "You got your ass kicked by two kids?" I asked, unimpressed. "Shut up. We just need you two to be careful, ok? We don't know what this guy wants with us, but it can't be good. We don't want you getting hurt." Gold explained. "Tell your partners, and your teammates. This could get ugly very soon." Red added. "Ok mom." We agreed, and stood back up. Gold hugged me, and I raised an eyebrow at Zill behind her. Her eyes started glowing as she connected to my mind. "This is serious. She's never been this scared. Just do what she says, and I'll handle it." She told me. I nodded and hugged Gold back.

Later that night, I didn't know how to bring it up to Bailey. She didn't notice my absence though. She was too busy telling me about her work. "The guy asked me for the same hair style as the magazine, which would have been fine if he had any fucking hair! But bro had a buzz cut, so I asked if he wanted a toupee, and suddenly, I'm a monster for implying that he's bald." She ranted. "I'm glad you're enjoying your job." I mumbled, as I stared at my water. Bailey squinted at me. "Yeah it was great. I ended up just shaving his head completely." She told me. "What?" I looked up confused, and she glared at me. "You heard that. What's going on? Now you're the one not listening." She said. "Sorry. Red and Gold had a disturbing message for me and Addy today." I admitted. "Is everything ok?" Bailey asked. "Not really, no. Some old guy that they think is my grandfather, is stalking them, and I guess tried to attack them last night. Anyways, mom said I have to be careful now. She said to tell you specifically." I explained. "Uh- yeah tell me! The fuck? I'm not letting any old people near you from now on!" She exclaimed. I laughed and rolled my eyes. "How would you even manage that?" I asked. "I have no idea, but trust that you are safe with me!" She smiled. I laughed again. "Thanks. I feel so protected." I said, sarcastically. "Really though, I'll do my best to keep you safe." Bailey promised, and I smiled. "Thank you." I replied.

Ella's POV
Bailey told me everything, and I passed the information to Retro. "You've got to be kidding me. This sucks! Cal said we had time!" She groaned. "Well, she's a Greek goddess. She could totally just lie to you." I shrugged. Retro grabbed my shoulders. "Shh! Careful! Don't say that too loud. They're always listening." She whispered. "I think you're a little paranoid." I replied. "Of course I am! You've met my mother!" She groaned, and let me go. "Calm down, Ret. What you need to focus on now, is protecting the team. Especially Sky and Addison. If what Gold and Red are talking about is true, then they could be in serious danger. You are the daughter of a goddess, Retro. You may not be immortal, but you have more power than any of us. You have to protect them." I told her. Retro nodded and I spoke. "I know. Protecting them isn't what I'm worried about though. If Cal did lie, it wasn't for no reason. She wanted us to be caught off guard, which means we all need to be on high alert. None of us are safe anymore." She replied. I nodded along with her. "Do you think she'll tell you anything?" I asked. Retro laughed. "That's funny, babe. If she wanted to, she would've." She replied.

When my voice healed, I really wanted to see Lila but she was avoiding me at all costs at school. I couldn't see her after school either, because she found ways to make herself busy. So instead, I figured I'd get to her in a different way. I walked into the matrix and into Zane's office. He was doing homework at his desk, and didn't even notice me walk in. Not until I slammed my hand on his desk, and he jumped. He looked up at me shocked. "Hi Cyan. Can I help you?" He asked. "Yeah. Apologize to my sister." I ordered. Zane laughed in my face and stood up. "Absolutely not. Has she apologized to you?" He asked. "No, but she's scared! It's not like I don't understand why she lashed out, and I'm not mad at her." I explained. "And that's your problem. You're too forgiving, Ella. She gave you a heart attack. She had you bleeding from the mouth. You could have died! Lila didn't care about the consequences of her actions. She only cared about herself!" He snapped. "But she regretted it! She won't even make eye contact with me now! It's not like she's heartless, Zane." I spat. "You don't think I know that? You don't think I miss her like crazy? I fucking love your sister! But this isn't something I can brush off. You may be ok with this, but I'm not. Let me ask you, Ella, do you think she can redeem herself?" He asked, walking around the desk. "Yes!" I answered. "How? How exactly will she do that?" He spat. I took a step back. "You don't know, because you hope that she'll redeem herself, but you have no proof that it can happen. When she proves herself to be a good person again, then I might apologize, but for the time being, she can just keep her distance." He snarled. I took a deep breath. "You want her to be a hero? Well you'll be waiting forever. I know the feeling. She's not a hero, Zane. She's just a girl! And if you can't love her like that, then you don't deserve to have her as a hero." I spat. Zane furrowed his brows. "I have work to do. Please make your way out." He snarled. I raised an eyebrow. "Is that a history essay or an English essay? Does homework really count as work?" I smirked. "Work is work. Get out." He spat. I huffed and stormed out.
