Bailey's POV
Riley was right before, and now I'm going to try and confront the issue with Sky. Before we left for the dance, I knocked on her door. "Come in!" She yelled. I walked into her room and stopped when I saw her. My eyes widened in awe. She was in dress pants with a dress shirt, and was tightening her tie. "Hey Yellow. Oh damn! Really yellow tonight, huh?" She took in my dress. "Huh? Oh! Yeah. You should see Max's neon green suit." I laughed. She giggled with me and kept messing with her golden tie. "You look really good. How different is the women's suit from the men's?" I asked. "A little tighter in certain areas, but it feels a lot better. Did you need something?" Sky asked. I just stared at her for a moment. "Uh... I forgot! Let me help you!" I walked up to her and fixed her tie. She smiled. "Thanks." She grabbed her blazer and slipped it on. It was black with a gold lapel. "Are we leaving yet? Where's the others?" She asked. "They're still getting ready. I um... I actually..." I felt bad all of a sudden. "What?" Sky asked, oblivious to my awkwardness. "Well uh... Riley said something funny the other day, and I was just wondering if it was true." I started. "What'd she say?" She asked. "She uh- she said that you had a crush on me! And I know that's crazy! But uh... is it true?" I asked, nervously. Sky just stared at me for a second. "Crush is a strong word. I hardly know you anymore, and the first impression I got of you when you came back was you crapping on me, but that being said. You are very attractive." She explained. "I apologized for that! Wait, really? You think I'm attractive?" I asked. "Yeah, I do, but I wasn't gonna say anything, cause you're my friend. And also, like I said, I don't really know you that well anymore, so I can't exactly have a crush on you." She explained. I breathed out relieved. "Oh good. I was worried that I'd end up being a jerk again... which I guess I kinda am right now. But! If it's any consolation, I think you look beautiful too." I said. Sky smiled. "No sweat, Bailes. You wanna ditch these losers and go early?" She offered. "Yes! Anything to avoid the car ride with Max." I agreed.

There was a really long line of people waiting to get in, so we decided to wait it out in the parking lot. "So, you never did tell us why you came back home." Sky said. I froze and stared down at the road. "Yes I did. I just... missed you guys." I replied. "Sure you did, cause you really look like you're missing home in this picture." Sky handed me her phone. It was my last post from New York. It was a picture of me in Times Square. "You can hide a lot in a picture." I shrugged. "Like how you're full of shit?" Sky asked. I took a deep breath. "I don't need to tell you anything, Sky." I snapped. "You're right. You don't, but I think it'd help you if you did. And just so we're clear, this is why I don't have a crush on you." She spat. "What? Because I won't tell you something that's none of your business?" I asked. "No. Because you're a liar." She replied. My eyebrows shot up. "I am not a liar!" I protested. "Then who all knows the truth?" She asked. I shut my mouth and she nodded. "Exactly. Withholding the truth, makes you a liar." She spat. "No it doesn't! You wouldn't understand!" I yelled. My eyes started to water and I looked away. "Understand what, Bailey? You were sent to one of the smartest schools in the country and you expect me to believe that you came home just cause?!" She snapped. "Cause I flunked out!" I screamed. Sky was taken back. "Are you happy now? I failed in that school, after only being there for one year. I went to a normal public school in New York. I couldn't come back after failing so hard. Not when you all were so proud of me! My parents knew. Max knew. But I told them to keep it a secret. I'm only back now because high school is more expensive there than it is here. So yeah, I lied! Because I'm a failure, Sky. Is that what you wanted to hear?" I cried. Sky stared at me for a moment, then grabbed my chin, and pushed my head up. "Ah! What the-!?" I shrieked. "You'll ruin your makeup if you cry." She said. I huffed a laugh and pushed her hand away. "Yeah. Thanks." I sniffled. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." She said. I sighed. "You didn't. I just... I had such high hopes for myself... and then I failed... and I couldn't bear to face you all again." I explained. "You're not a failure, Bailey. You're more talented than you know. Come on! That line isn't getting any shorter." Sky held out her hand to me. I stared at it for a second before I took it. "Make me cry and then dance with me? That's an interesting pickup method." I noted. "But it's working." Sky smirked and I laughed.

Max's POV
We had to wait in line forever before we actually got in. So I was a little shocked to see Bailey inside already. "Hey! Where have you been?" I grabbed her shoulder. "Crying! And dancing! It's been a night and it's not even eight thirty." She groaned. "Are you ok?" I asked. "Yeah! I told Sky about New York." She explained. My eyebrows shot up. "Do you need a drink?" I asked. "What? We're sixteen!" She exclaimed. An upperclassman walked by us, and I snagged something from his pocket. "Trust me. You'll feel better after a swig of this." I handed her the flask. "How did you know he'd have that? Wait- what have you been doing while I was gone?" Bailey asked. "Questions later. Drink now." I shoved it in her hands. She sighed and drank it. "Ah- that's disgusting!" She coughed. "Keep drinking. It'll become delicious. Have you seen Blaire? I was gonna ask if she wanted to dance." I said. "I have, but you don't want to dance with her." She chuckled. "Why not?" I asked. "One, she's protecting Santana from the male gaze, and two, last time I saw her she looked pissed." She explained. "I can handle both of those things. Where did she go?" I asked. Bailey pointed behind her and I ran off.

She and Santana looked great in their matching blue dresses. "Hey girls!" I waved to them. Santana smirked at Blaire when she saw me. "Hello Max." She giggled. Blaire rolled her eyes at her. "Hi Max." She greeted me. "Are you having a good time? Any weird guys come up to you?" I asked. "Other than you?" Blaire asked. Santana nudged her. "Nothing we couldn't handle. In fact! I'm gonna go get some water. I'll be right back." She patted Blaire's shoulder and walked away. "Satan! Get back here! I'm supposed to be protecting you!" Blaire yelled, and Santana ignored her. "Am I that repellent?" I asked. "Huh? No! It's not you Max. I've just... had a long night." She admitted. "The party just started! What do you mean?" I asked. She shrugged and looked down. "Nothing ok. What did you want?" She asked. "I wanted to ask to dance with you, but I'm starting to think you kinda need to dance." I laughed. She rolled her eyes and nodded. "You've got that right. Ok, glow stick. Let's see your moves." Blaire took my hand and dragged me to the dance floor.

"So are you gonna tell me about your awful night?" I asked with a laugh. "I don't know. Are you gonna tell me why you don't have super powers?" Blaire smirked. I stopped dancing and just glared at her. "Exactly! That's how I feel! Now shake that ass, glow stick!" She punched my shoulder. I laughed a little. "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours!" I said. "Sure! But not here and not tonight! Now shut up and keep dancing with me!" She grabbed my hand and pulled me into her. "Are you drunk?" I asked. "Possibly!" She smiled and nodded. I laughed. "Good to know. I'll make sure you don't get fucked up." I replied. "Come on Max! We're all fucked up! There's nothing that could ever change that!" Blaire giggled and I laughed.
