Zane's POV
We got to the spire, but not easily. As Santana and Kara flew up to it, lightning struck down right in front of them, and the sky grew dark. Thunder rumbled all around us and a heavy wind started blowing. "Hurricane! Spark Hound! You're up!" Zephyr ordered. "Up where?" Cleo asked. Lightning struck the spire again, and a figure appeared on top of it. "Hello and welcome to Squad Alpha Tower! My name is Lydia and I'll be your host for this tour!" When the smoke cleared, a young Lydia smiled at us all. Blaire went pale and held her breath. "I must advise that you stay away from the construction though. Lots of open outlets. Wouldn't want you to get hurt!" Lydia fired lightning at us again, and Cleo and Blaire took to the air. Cleo jumped off of her board, changed it back into a stick, and whacked Lydia off of the spire. Blaire caught Cleo, and Lydia just laughed at them as she flew back up to them. "Nice to meet you too." She smirked, and tackled them down. "Talon! Rover! Get to work!" Zephyr reminded them. They flew back up to the spire, and Zephyr and I watched from the roof.

"Why are we just standing here?" I asked. "Because Lydia isn't alone." Zephyr answered. Just then, the wires along the bottom of the spire started sparking. Zephyr walked to one of the outlets and unplugged the sparking wire. As soon as it hit the ground, a very young Gabe shot out of it. My eyes widened and Zephyr stepped back to stand beside me. Gabe straightened out his suit and his watch. "You know, I really don't have time for this bullshit. There are much more important matters that I have to attend to, so let's hurry this along." He smiled in annoyance. Then he summoned a laser gun and fired at us. Zephyr immediately turned to her glitchen form and swarmed herself around Gabe. "What the-? Babe! You have a worthy competitor!" He yelled. The door behind me opened and I spun around. "Oh fuck-" I mumbled. Arc, in his glitchen form, darted after Zephyr and ripped her off of Gabe. The two started wrestling in the sky, which left me alone with Gabe. He sighed as he looked at me. "Don't tell me you're one of those too." He groaned. "I am, but I have something that she doesn't." I summoned the laser gun from Gabe's hand and shot him in the shoulder. "Now you have a worthy competitor." I smirked. He groaned to himself and brushed off his shoulder. He didn't say anything. Instead he just huffed and teleported into the wires again. I groaned and followed after him.

Gabe's laugh echoed around me. Being inside a wire is just like being in a long dark electrified tunnel. "You shouldn't have followed me in here, boy." He growled from behind me. I spun around right as he punched me away from him, and then zapped me with the electricity from the wire. I screamed out in pain and coughed out smoke when it stopped. I fell to my knees and panted for breath. "You have no idea what you're doing in here, do you?" Gabe walked to me and crossed his arms. "You hardly lasted a minute." He chuckled. I huffed and looked up at him. "I could say the same to you!" I yelled. Then I slapped my hands on the ground and channeled the electricity in the walls. It shot out around Gabe like ropes and grabbed him by the arms and legs. "Ah! What the- how are you doing that? Why can't I fight back?!" He tried to pull away, but couldn't move. I smirked as I stood up. "Because my father made sure my programming was stronger than yours." I answered, and zapped him directly in the middle of his head. Gabe's head dropped and I let him go. Then I grabbed him and teleported us out of the wire.

Kara's POV
"How do we destroy this?" Santana asked. "If we can rip it off of the base then it should lose its signal." I answered. "And how do we do that?" She asked. I frowned and looked over at the spire. "You don't." We heard. Santana and I jumped and turned around to face the voice. A young Heather was floating there behind us. "Hi there! Relax. I'm not going to hurt you. Not as soon as I add you two to the spell." She held out her hand, and the spire started glowing red. We panicked and Santana punched her across the face. The glowing stopped, and Heather slowly looked back at us as she rubbed her jaw. "Ok. Now I might hurt you." She huffed.

Heather charged up her fists and casted a stream of fire out at Santana. I shrieked and tackled her out of the way. "Focus on the spire! I'll handle her." I ordered. "But Rover-" She grabbed my shoulder, and I snapped my head back at her. "Go!" I shouted, and she was taken back. She flew over to the spire and I blasted a beam of hot water at Heather. She reflected it right back at me, and I just barely avoided it. Then I bolted straight at her and tackled her onto the roof. I punched her across the face, back and forth, as Santana charged up to blast at the spire. Heather groaned in annoyance and suddenly grabbed my fists. Then she pulled up her legs and launched me off of her. I tumbled across the ground as she got up and blasted Santana before she could she fire. Santana fell beside me, and Heather laughed at us. She wiped the blood from her mouth as she walked to us. "I don't know who you are, or how you got this far, but it ends here. I admire your effort though. Reminds me of when I tried to break the spire... but I was corrected in my ways, as will you be." She smirked. My eyes widened and I looked at Santana. "The spell isn't hers!" I realized. "No, but she's keeping it running. She's the key to ending this, and I have an idea. Come fly with me!" Santana smiled. "What?" I asked, confused. Santana turned into a hawk and flew up around the spire. Heather blasted at her, but missed, and I suddenly got the idea. I transformed into my own bird, and followed after Santana. We flew around the spire in figure eights as Heather tried to shoot us down. "Argh! Why are you so persistent?!" She flew up and charged her hands again. "I'll just have to try a bigger strategy!" She shouted, and shot out a beam so wide, that it covered half of the roof. I barely got out without my feathers singed, but Santana's wing was burnt, and she crashed onto the roof as she transformed back. I landed beside her and shapeshifted back. "Are you ok?!" I asked. "I'll be fine." She whined as she clutched her arm. I looked back up at Heather as she stopped the blast. The spire had tilted over in the blast, but wasn't disconnected. "Oh shit-" Heather mumbled. "Shit indeed!" I darted up behind her and body slammed her into the spire.

There was a burst of electricity as the spire disconnected, and Heather and I both came barreling out of the sky. We fell down from the very top of the tower, and spire created a crater in the ground as we all crashed. The army around us was knocked back, and everyone slowly stopped fighting as the magic wore away. I slowly and painfully lifted myself from the dirt, and wobbled as I stood up. Santana flew down beside me. "Are you ok?" She asked, and I nodded. Then we heard someone shuffle against the sand, and Heather's silhouette suddenly appeared, limping towards us. "No! You don't get to end this! Not like this!" She fired a fireball, but it hit the ground almost immediately, like she couldn't aim correctly. We slowly approached her through the dust cloud. She swung at me, and fell forward in the process. I caught her, and lifted her onto my shoulder while she kicked and thrashed like a baby. "Let me go! I gotta- I gotta-" She panted as she dropped her head. Santana held up Heather's head and raised an eyebrow. "The spell is lingering. It's flickering in and out." She explained. "We need to get her away from the spire. Maybe it's still transmitting." I said. "You just fell thirty stories and crashed in a crater. I think its safe to say it stopped! Everyone else stopped already!" Santana gestured behind us. "Then how else would it be affecting her?" I asked. "Well, if the spire was partially transmitting her magic, then maybe it's taking longer to seperate the evil part from the normal part." She explained. I just blinked at her. "What are you talking about?" I asked. She groaned. "Whatever. Drag her away if you want, but it's not gonna do anything." She spat. I rolled my eyes and started carrying Heather away.

As I got closer to my actual parents, Heather started to stir again. "No! No get off me!" She leaped off of my back and fell onto the ground. "What the- oh come on!" I groaned. "How dare you drag me home... to enemy territory!" She corrected herself as she stood up. "Home? Wait, if you were in the resistance than maybe... Aurelia! Aurelia are you near?!" I shouted. Heather tackled me down as soon as I said her name. "You keep her name out of your filthy mouth!" She snarled. I punched her off of me and Aurelia noticed. She started to walk over, and Heather started booking it back to the crater, but I quickly made a rope and lassoed her back over to me. Then I grabbed her by the back of the shirt and threw her over at Aurelia. She caught her, and when their eyes met, they both froze. "This is the loss you were talking about, isn't it?" I asked. Aurelia glanced back at me. "How could you know this?" She asked. I shook my head. "It doesn't matter. What matters is that you're the only person that could save her now! The spell has integrated with her magic. She is one with the spell, and you have the power to strip her away." I explained. "What?! How?!" Aurelia shrieked. My moms walked up beside her and smiled. "With true loves kiss." Aethra answered. Aurelia looked at her stunned. "I thought it was stupid too. Just do it." She shrugged. Aurelia looked back at Heather and took her helmet off. Heather was still frozen in shock, but she melted immediately as Aurelia kissed her. Aethra took Paws' hand and I smiled. The spell faded from Heather's eyes and she collapsed against Aurelia. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She cried. "It's ok! It's ok." Aurelia hugged her, and Santana walked up beside me. She was still clutching her arm, and she refused to look at me. "I was right." She spat. I raised an eyebrow at her. "And you took my idea after dismissing me." She growled. "Talon, I just-" She cut me off. "Save it, Red Rover! Don't bother trying at home either." She stormed away and my eyes widened. "Babe!" Lizz flew over to me and hugged me tightly. "Are you ok?" She asked. I smiled softly at her. "Yeah. Lets go home." I sighed.
