Amber's POV
"Charlie, this isn't going to work!" I groaned. He unlocked the door. "Well we need her help, and you're the person eligible to break her out. Now go talk to your mother!" He shoved me into the house and shut the door behind me. "Charlie? Is that you? You're home early." I heard. I took a deep breath and slowly walked into the living room. Apollo raised an eyebrow at me. "Who the hell are you? Where's Charlie? I heard him." She looked around behind me. "He's outside. I have to talk to you." I answered. She blinked at me. "Kay." Apollo sat down on the couch. "Ok, um-" I thought for a moment, unsure how to start this. Lila said she just told Cyan about his life, so maybe the same thing will work here. "Do you remember a girl in high school named Aurelia?" I asked. Apollo's face slowly fell, and she sat back against the couch. "Is this some sort of intervention? Why are you asking me about my ex?" She asked. "Ex?!" I shrieked. "Yeah. She was the love of my life, but I was bad at listening to her, so she broke up with me." Apollo stood up. "Look, I'm sure you're a very nice teen counselor or something, but I will literally pay you to leave me alone on this topic." She spat. My jaw dropped. "But... you never broke up. I remember you saying you had a rough patch once, but you solved it. You said that Aurelia took away your powers and that you did everything to make it up to her, even offering to lose your magic forever." I explained. She squinted at me. "Huh?" She asked. "Charlie said that you died once. Do you remember that? Aurelia tried to save you, but you blasted her away, and then Zill revived you. Come on, Paws!" I groaned. "Paws? I haven't been called that in years! God, what has Charlie told you?" She huffed. "You have two daughters, Apollo. Santana and Kara? And you adopted me! Amber? Remember!?" I yelled. She just stared at me in confusion. "No." She shook her head. I groaned to myself. "What else can I even tell you?!" I pulled at my hair in annoyance. "Look, Amber, I don't know who you are or why Charlie brought you here, but you're just stressing yourself out. You need to go. I don't have any kids. I wouldn't even know how to raise them!" She chuckled. My eyes shot open when she said that, and something clicked in my head. "Because you didn't grow up with parents?" I asked. She raised an eyebrow. "Neither did I, but you saved me. And now... part of me is thinking that that's why you chose me, because I'm like you." I explained. Apollo's eyes softened. "And that explains why you were so accepting of Ember too, because she's helping me the same way Aurelia helped you." I smiled. Apollo blinked a few times in confusion, and I giggled. "Thank you for that. You've helped me more than anyone ever has, and you still are... mom." I told her. Her body immediately jolted forward, and I jumped back. "Woah!" Apollo fell to her knees. "What the- Amber?" She looked up at me. "Mom, you're back!" I bent down to hug her. "I... am?" She hugged me back. I helped her stand back up. "Did you just call me mom?" She asked. I smiled at her. "We have to go. Come on." I took her hand and dragged her out to Charlie.
When we got back, Ember seemed confused. "It didn't work? Where is she?" She asked. "No it did! She's just trying to find Aurelia." I explained. "Oh, ok. I'm glad it worked. I knew you could do it, babe." She smiled. I smiled wide and hugged her tightly. Ember was taken back, and laughed. "What's this?" She giggled. "I love you. Thank you for being here, Ember." I mumbled. She smiled and patted my back. "I love you too." She replied. "Kids, listen up!" Charlie shouted. We all looked over at him. "It's been a long day. The sun is going down, now. We can't work ourselves over. We're no use to anyone when we're hysterical. So! Go to bed. All of you! Zed and I will try to locate everyone else's parents while you rest." He ordered. "But Charlie, how can we sleep now? When everyone is missing? Who knows what's happening to them right now!?" Lila exclaimed. Zed blasted her with some sort of mist, and she immediately passed out on the floor. "Anyone else having trouble sleeping?" He smirked. Everyone went silent. "Good! Now go!" He huffed.
Lila's POV
My head ached like all hell when I woke up. "What the fuck?" I groaned and lifted myself onto my elbows. Then I looked around and realized I wasn't at HQ anymore. "Oh god! Not again!" I jumped to my feet. "Good morning, White." I heard. My head snapped back to the voice, and Mia smiled at me. Josh just laughed at me. "Where are we?" I asked. "Home? Duh. Where else would we sleep? We were wondering when you'd wake up." Mia answered. I looked around and sighed as I realized I was in my own room. "Calm down. You're worrying too much." Mia walked over to me. "There's just so much riding on us." I groaned. "Yeah! This is why we weren't superheroes before, but we're not alone. The matrix reported in this morning." She told me. My eyebrows shot up. "Come on. We need to go meet everyone." She patted my shoulder.
