"So you're telling me you all share the same mate, found her and didn't think that was an important damn thing for me to know?!" Fury yells crossing his arms look around shaking his head a little more than exasperated.
"Well we did consider telling you so we did think about it." Tony says emphasizing think shrugging.
If looks could kill Tony would be a goner.
"And now you want me to offer her a job working alongside the galaxies biggest fools?" He asks incredulously.
"Actually I came to see if I thought I'd even like to work here." I chime in.
Fury laughs. Not a happy laugh. One of those are you fucking kidding me I'm about to snap laughs. I raise my eyebrows and let him do what he has to do.
"I see why she's all your mate. I can tell she's a pain in the ass."
I smile. "Thank you."
He blinks in disbelief at me.
"Do you even have any training or experience?" He questions.
"Well I've been being trained by my mates and before that I did have training. I also have some experience under my belt. Admittedly not quite at the level of the Avengers but I've seen my fair share of evil." I state.
"Any powers?"
I swallow hard. I feel Vision place his hand on my shoulder and I look back at him. His face tells me it's okay he won't let anything bad happen to me. I relax and take a deep breath before saying, "I am a siren and I manipulate sound and water in simple terms."
"Are you the only one?"
The relaxation drains immediately and I stiffen up.
"Yes." I lie.
"Marianna." Vision whispers squeezing my shoulder urging me to tell the truth.
Fury sees this and raises his eyebrow looking at me for answers.
"No." I admit biting my lip.
"Why lie?" He questions not upset but genuinely curious.
"We are a hidden species. Humans ruin everything beautiful they touch. They've already polluted our home and hunted us in the past for sport. Most don't treat people who are different kindly. The Avengers save the world all of the time, they eat her-ios for breakfast. And they all still face so much hate." I state sadly.
"By no means are the Avengers perfect or sirens either. But neither are people without powers and they have the chance to not be perfect without retribution. Everyone is capable of bad and good with or without powers and everyone should be treated as such but that's just not how this world is."
"Well if you're the Avengers soulmate your secret is going to get out." He says almost apologetically.
"I know. And my people will hate me forever." A single tear falls down my cheek but I wipe it up quickly and smile.
"But I love my mates. And won't make them or myself live a lie."
Fury nods his head.
"We can try to lie and say you're the only one so you can live your life and not out your people." He suggests.
I smile. "I like you Nick Fury. But nobody is going to believe that and within minutes there will be people searching for mine so I think it's best to be honest and let people know they are not to be fucked with or I will personally take care of them. Either way I'll be outing my people. My way is the only way I can let people know sirens are not creatures to be trifled with."
"It's not against siren law to tell humans about our existence mostly because of soulmates but it's definitely not going to be appreciated on this scale."
"Whatever happens you have us." Natasha says looking at me.
I look back at her lovingly but still with a tinge of sadness.
"So now that I've caught you up on the rules of the family tree tell me about this Avengers business." I smirk wanting to change the subject.
He doesn't tell me much. Just the stuff that's pretty known to the public sprinkling in little things to make it seem like he's telling me shit but he's really not. Typical but understandable. He's interesting. He doesn't come off as kind when you first talk to him but what he does and how he does it shows he's trying to do what's right.
"Stop analyzing me." He states bluntly.
"What are you in my head?" He smirks at that.
"I'm not gonna lie it's very inticing." I say.
"I still haven't technically offered you a job." Fury chimes in.
"Peter made a really good point about getting to protect you all. This seems perfect we get to protect each other while still doing what we love doing." I beam.
"Funny I still haven't offered you a job yet." Fury says a bit louder.
"I agree! Plus we'll get to spend even more time together!" Peter (P) beams back.
"I still didn't offer anyone a damn job!" He yells slamming his hands down.
"Well if she doesn't we'll be leaving to be.. freelancers of sorts to be with her either way." Natasha states crossing her arms.
"Really Romanoff? Ultimatums?" He raises his eyebrow.
"I've done worse for less." She shrugs.
"I wasn't going to say no but you all just can't let things be huh?" He says annoyed.
Everyone yells in celebration pulling me into their arms.
"It is going to be so sexy seeing you fight alongside us my love." Pietro purrs.
"I can't wait to show you all my spidey moves!" Peter beams.
"Now you'll definitely be going to space one way or another." Gamora laughs.
I celebrate again hearing that.
"When do I start?!" I question excitedly.
"Well you need more training before you start anything too serious but the best training comes from experience so I'll be sending you on a solo mission soon." Fury answers.
This causes an uproar.
"We literally just had a lovey dovey moment of togetherness and the first thing you say is go on a solo mission?!" Loki enrages.
"This is what you wanted. Deal with it." He walks briskly out letting them stew and me sit with giddy excitement.
"I'll be okay. He's not going to send me on anything too crazy alone. He knows who my mates are." I laugh.
"He better hope you're right." Bucky says through gritted teeth clearly still not liking the idea of me going alone on a mission.
"So how do we go about addressing the public?" I question anxiously.
