-.--.-..-.-...-Tapping his index finger on the table, Chand jotted down the few key points from their professor's lecture.
He could feel a headache starting to form at the back of his head as the afternoon class continued to drag on but he didn't mind it and just concentrated on the topic being discussed.
It was the last day for lectures because next week would be the finals week. The week everyone's dreading for.
He had to push himself to survive for another week and he'd finally be able to enjoy his semestral break.
After a while, he felt a tap on his left shoulder. He looked over and saw one of his fellow-students handing him a small folded piece of paper. He was confused but still accepted it.
Facing forward, he opened it.
Can I talk to you after class?
- CaseyHe sighed as he looked back again to see the girl who's sitting farther at the back and looking at him with a forlorn expression on her face.
To be fair, he actually felt a little guilty after overreacting the last time the two talked. Also, the girl was just trying to help him yet he kind of snapped at her.
He bit the inside of his cheeks lightly as he wrote down his answer.
Fine.
He passed the paper back to the person behind him and continued listening to their professor.
After an hour, the lecture finally finished. Students were quickly standing up to leave the room. Chand, feeling his butt going numb after hours of sitting, also stood up from his seat.
"I'm famished. That lecture drained the hell out of me," Declan was still sitting beside Chand as he slumped his arms and head over the table.
Chand chuckled at his action. "We should go somewhere nice after finals. An overnight would be good," Chand suggested.
Declan perked up at the lad's idea and looked up at him, "Someplace with a beach or pool would be even better. I'll tell the others."
The two then headed out of their room but was stopped short at the door by a feminine figure.
"Right, I forgot. Declan, you go on ahead. I'll catch up with you," Chand patted Declan at the back as he urged him to go on without him.
When the two were left behind, Chand faced the girl. "So, what is it that you want to talk about, Casey?" He asked.
The girl was fidgeting with her hands as she looked at him, undoubtedly, she's nervous. Clearing her throat, "I wanted to apologize. I shouldn't have poked my nose in someone else's business... I'm sorry."
Chand sighed, he could feel Casey's sincerity with her words.
"I apologize, as well, for snapping at you. I knew you were just trying to help," he said making the girl shake her head sideways.
"No, you don't have to. I was at fault so..."
Chand had a feeling that this wouldn't end if they'll keep this up. "You know what, let's just forget it happened," he suggested.
Casey looked at him, feeling a little surprise at his words, but she then nodded her head in agreement.
Chand felt that there wasn't anything more to talk about so he decided to leave but Casey stopped him again for the second time. "Can we be friends?" she reached out her hand forward for him to shake.
Chand looked at her hand then her face as she sported a genuine smile. He smiled a little at the straightforwardness of the girl as his hand shook hers, "Sure."
