-.--.-..-.-...-

It's been a few days since the group knew of what really happened the day Kali and Chand broke up.

Now, they're planning a surprise dinner for the girl as a way to apologize.

Although they knew they could've prepared better, but given the limited resources and the little time since vacation was almost over, it was the best idea they could come up with.

And for their plan to succeed, they needed the help of their landlord—Zaxton.

They had decided that since no one's really on good terms with Kali, apart from Phoebe and Avery, they'd need Zaxton's help to distract Kali for just a few hours.

Meanwhile, the rest would prepare and set Zaxton's place up for the surprise. Although Avery and Phoebe would've love to do Zaxton's role, the group figured that they'd need the two girl's help in prepping everything especially the food.

Of course, after hearing their plan for Kali, and Zaxton being Zaxton, he immediately agreed to their plan as he liked the thought of surprising his sister.

"What's wrong? You've been glancing at your phone for a couple of times now. Did something came up?" Kali questioned her brother as soon as they both sat down on one of the outdoor tables in front of a café.

Zaxton immediately looked up from his phone and tried to play it off, "Oh, it's nothing. It's UFC season and I'm just looking through my phone for any updates." He lied.

In truth, he was waiting for the 'go' signal from the group for him to bring Kali back home. The group had told Zaxton that they would contact him as soon as their preparations were over.

Kali pouted, her brows furrowed as if thinking, "Then we should've just stayed at home."

Zaxton's eyes widened slightly in panic as he saw Kali standing up from her seat. He quickly pulled her back down, "No! I mean— it's okay. I don't really like watching grown-ass men fighting each other."

His statement confused Kali, "But isn't UFC basically a fighting... championship...?"

Crap, Zaxton thought. He can't believe that he suck at lying. He had one job assigned to him and he's miserably failing at it.

"What's really going on, Zaxton?" Kali's eyes turned sharp when she felt suspicious at her brother, who's now unconsciously biting his lower lip in anxiousness.

Zaxton knew he had to think of an excuse fast or else he might blow the surprise her friends had worked hard for. "Nothing's going on, Lili. By the way, I've noticed you and Chand had been getting along very well these past few days," he commented.

He could tell it was enough to divert his sister's attention. Kali, who had not expected her brother's statement, felt her cheeks burn.

It was the truth.

Ever since she shared about that night, Chand had been extra attentive towards her. Although she thought that it was normal between friends but deep inside her, she couldn't help but think of it as more.

Honestly, she wanted to hope for more but knew that she shouldn't. Not when her time is running out.
