The table was silent after Zaxton had told Kali what he had seen that day. Kali was left speechless and mostly embarrassed that someone had seen her ugly past.

Zaxton could see the wheels turning in her head as she stayed silent with her head down. He leaned forward and grab a hold of her hand, caressing it gently.

At first, he hated everything. His father, his other family, the knowledge of him cheating on his mother.

He could only feel anger towards his father and desolation for his mother.

But the image of the girl, whom he came to know was actually his sister, asking for money yet returned it right after stuck with him.

He later got curious. And after knowing about her life, he felt pity for her. They both share half of the same blood, yet only one received love and the other got abandoned.

He hated how his father treated her. It wasn't even her fault to be born in the first place. If it wasn't for his father's overly active sexual life then she wouldn't even have to suffer just by being able to live.

That's why, he begged his mother to let him travel alone for summer vacation.

It was an excuse for him to go to the countryside and meet his sister. He knew of her plans before then and was worried for her health and safety so he went after her.

"Damn, I'm too embarrassed to even face you right now, Zaxton," Kali said, hiding her face behind her two hands as she felt her cheeks grew hot.

Zaxton chuckled at how adorable she looked. "You don't have to be. There's nothing to be embarrassed about," the boy shrugged, pulling her hands away from her face.

"Really, I'm the one who's embarrassed at how father had treated you all this time without my knowledge. I can't believe I share the same blood as him," he shuddered in disgust.

Kali bit back a smile at Zaxton's expression. This time, it was her turn to gently grasped Zaxton's hand and gave it a short squeeze.

A grateful look on her face. Grateful for the fact that maybe she wouldn't feel so alone in her last moments now that her brother is here.

"Kali?"

Looking at her left, Kali's eyes widened in surprise to see the figure that had called her name.
