'Why a hospital?'
That was the question that's weighing heavily in everyone's mind as soon as their van made a stop in front of the white building.
When all of them left Zaxton's villa, Avery went and rode together with her brother in his car while the rest tailed behind the two. So when they arrived in front of the building, everyone was left baffled as to why the hospital.
Is there something that we don't know?, is the only thought lingering at the back of their minds.
"Chand! Wait!" Ellis voiced out when Chand immediately stepped out of the van as soon as it stopped.
Declan looked back to everyone from the driver's seat and spoke, "You guys go on ahead. I'll look for a parking spot then catch up with you."
The others followed Declan's words and quickly went after Chand's figure but, unfortunately, he is now out of everyone's sight. So they had to ask some of the staffs for any clues and directions.
On the other hand, it was a good thing that Chand got off the vehicle right away as he was able to follow Avery's back since she and her brother were rushing.
Although Chand had to quicken his pace so as not to fall behind the siblings. I'm pretty sure she just went right in this corner, Chand thought when he lost sight of Avery.
Right when Chand turned right in the corner's hallway, he could hear voices of men talking paired with a feminine sob.
He saw Seb talking to a doctor while Avery and Zaxton were standing beside him. Avery was sobbing, judging from the hunched and shaking shoulders as Zaxton tried to comfort her by rubbing her back. The three couldn't see him as their backs were facing him.
The scene in front of Chand made him confused. But at the same time, it gave him a heavy feeling. A feeling he hoped he was wrong.
The men's voices weren't too loud but it was clear enough for him to be able to hear a part of their conversation without the need of going near them.
"Sorry..."
"Metastasized..."
"Nothing more... do..."
"Chemotherapy...."
Those were the only words that Chand understood from their conversation. Although at the same time, it seemed that he couldn't make any sense out of any of those.
Chand couldn't stop himself from staying silent any longer and so he asked.
"What did you guys mean by that?"
