"Where are you headed off to?" Chand asked the moment he saw Kali by the door.
Looking behind her, she saw the lad standing at the end of the stairs. His hair was ruffled in an unkept manner, signifying that he had just woken up.
"I'm going to see the sunrise and stroll for a bit. Wanna come with?" Kali answered as she twisted the doorknob, opening the front door and leaving it slightly ajar.
After their talk a couple of days back, the two had started interacting with each other again which surprised the rest of their friends.
Albeit, it wasn't like how they used to do before the two broke up but it was still a clear progress on their relationship — a friendship one, that is.
The two had agreed to become friends again for a fresh start.
Chand thought that it wouldn't be such a bad idea to start his day with a light exercise so he nodded at Kali's offer, "Okay, I'll just get my hoodie real quick. I'll be right back."
He dashed towards his room, grabbing his hoodie and wearing it swiftly. He was about to leave the room when his eyes caught sight of his unused cashmere teddy jacket.
Quickly contemplating, he went and grabbed it before heading downstairs.
"Sorry for the wait," he spoke as soon as he reached the front porch where Kali was waiting.
The girl looked over her shoulder and smiled, "It wasn't that long."
Chand took closer steps towards Kali until she was only an arm's length away from him. He then carefully placed his jacket over her shoulders.
"It's still cold and that shirt of yours won't do much in keeping you warm," he reasoned out when he noticed Kali looking at him with a questioning face.
Kali's eyes glossed over in appreciation when she heard the lad's words. She was touched at his thoughtful action.
She knew of Chand's character, on how genuinely caring he is. But she didn't expect he'd still act like this around her when she had hurt him.
"Thank you," she bashfully answered as her dainty fingers gripped the soft cloth.
Chand could feel his heart swell with emotion as he saw Kali smiled cutely at him.
It reminded him of how Kali had always affected him in the past — how a small smile could make his day; how a simple 'good morning' from her could lift up his entire mood; hell, even the thought of seeing her had became the only thing he looks forward to each day.
It was familiar, nostalgic. It was something that he shouldn't have allowed himself to feel, considering their past conflict and their relationship as of now.
But he knew that deep within his heart, he had always loved the warmth that Kali made him feel.
And now that he had once again experienced the effect that Kali does to him, he started to wonder one thing, that maybe he hadn't really moved on from her.
Just maybe.
