"Nowhere to go... with no one, nobody... hmm," Avery hummed a song as she made her way into her brother's clinic.

Since it's summer vacation as of the moment, she has a lot of free time. Other than hanging out with her friends, which she had already done a week ago, another thing that she likes to do is inviting her brother out for a lunch.

Her brother has been so busy the past few days that she hasn't seen much of him at home. And she misses him.

"Oh, it's just like magic... feeling your touch, oh, it's a..." Avery trailed off, the next line of the song stuck in her throat as she saw someone familiar exiting out of her brother's clinic.

Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "Why is Kali here again?"

It wasn't the first time wherein the youngest saw her dear friend visiting his brother's clinic. And now, seeing her for the second time only brought out her curiosity.

Kali, on the other end, hasn't got any clue about Avery seeing her nor did she knew that Avery has a sibling who's working in the medical field.

After the eldest left, Avery immediately went inside his brother's clinic. Curiosity boiling inside of her as to the reason why the eldest needed to see a doctor.

"Avi, what are you doing?" Avery's older brother raised a brow at her direction as his sister leaned her back unto the door.

"Hey! Sebby, who was that? The one that just came out from your clinic?" Her eyes rounded as she questioned her older brother.

"Tsk! I told you not to call me that," the older narrowed his eyes at his younger sister. If she's gonna play it like that then he can play it too.

Avery pouted, knowing his brother's hate on that name, she wouldn't be getting anything out of him, "Sebby's cute though."

The latter only gave her a deadpan look.

"Ugh fine, Seb. Who was that anyway?" Avery huffed out as she sat on one of the chairs in front of his table. She didn't bother to admit that she knew Kali, or else her brother might not spill anything at all.

Seb had a wide grin, feeling like he won the mini war between the two. "Oh, the one that just came out? That was Kali. She's a patient of mine," the grin washed away completely from his face as he remembered about the girl.

Avery had a feeling that something must be going on with Kali that she hasn't told anyone about.

Seb looked at his sister with a pensive expression causing the latter to feel a knot in the pit of her stomach, suddenly dreading whatever words that may come out from her brother's mouth.

"She has terminal cancer."
