It's been a few weeks since she had stayed in her new home. The first few days were a challenge since she wasn't used to not waking up early to go work or school, but after a while she got the hang of it.
And, to be honest, she really love every second of it.
After staying for almost a month in the countryside, she had adopted to a new routine where she wakes up at around six in the morning and watch the sunrise by the shoreline while sipping a hot cocoa with her body wrapped around in a thick blanket.
After the sunrise would pass, she'd go out to the nearby public market and buy herself some fresh vegetables and meat to last her for the day. And then, she'd repeat that routine everyday as if it's drilled into her system.
"Oh, Lili, sweetie! You've come early this time. Is it gonna be the usual?" An old bubbly lady greeted Kali as soon as she stepped closer to her stall. Lili became her nickname after meeting the old woman.
"Good morning, Grandma Glen. Yes, I'd like the usual please," Kali greeted her with a wide smile on her face. She adores the sweet old woman who never fails to make her smile everyday.
"I'll prepare it real quick, okay? Wait here for a bit," the old woman rushes to the back leaving Kali to wait and just look around the area.
Seconds after, a strict-looking old man came out from the back of their stall to arrange their products at the front. Kali noticed him and immediately greeted, "Good morning, Grandpa Eddie."
The old man finally noticed the young girl and smiled an endearing one as if he's looking at one of his grandchildren. "Lili, you're a little early this time. Have you eaten breakfast yet?"
"Hmm, I did. I had some scones earlier on my way here," she answered.
"Ey, just that? You should've eaten more! Look how thin you already are! Come inside, I'll pack some food for you to bring home," the old man ushered Kali to come with him.
Kali chuckled at the thoughtfulness of the old man who easily became like a grandfather figure for her. She followed knowing that he and his wife, Glen, would scold her if she'll refuse his offer.
