The others sway a little in their spot as they indulged themselves from hearing the lovely melody. Kali sat silently while she listened intently. Somehow the words touched a few chords deep in her heart.

Ellis continued strumming his guitar as the music carried on unto its second verse. And as soon as Kali heard Chand sing, her heart thudded loudly against her chest.

Kali tried to calm herself down. Chand singing had always made her feel a lot of things. She was sure it isn't just because of the song but also due to his voice—deep, smooth and just rich with so much raw emotions.

It made her remember that it was one of the reasons why she even fell in love with him in the first place.

Kali tried to discreetly glance at the lad beside her, but her eyes widened slightly when her eyes met his. Although Kali didn't know, Chand had been staring at her since a while ago. He couldn't help it, he's always been drawn to her.

Kali avoided his gaze when she felt that it was too much. His voice, his gaze, the words he's singing. Everything about him somehow overwhelms her and at the same time, it doesn't. Or maybe it wasn't him?

Then, all of a sudden, Kali felt it—the small contact as Chand's finger brushed against hers on the thin blanket they were sitting on. This caused Kali to look back at him.

Why are you looking at me like that?, she thought when their eyes met again. His gaze and voice didn't waver as he sings while staring at her.

Yet Kali did. Her eyes darted anywhere and away from his when this time, she finally felt suffocated. Not from him but from the emotions she felt while being this close to him.

Unable to hold herself, Kali left the group immediately even before the song ended. Everyone kind of knew why. They could see the tension between her and Chand from a while ago although they all chose not to mind it.
