A Change of Heart.

Maurice POV

I got ready, for the day and looked at my permission slip money. It was frustrating as hell that I knew Ryan wasn't going. I opted to stay with her, but she nearly bit my head off when I did. I didn't want her here alone for a week, but she insisted.

Shaking my head, I grabbed my money, and placed it in the envelope with my moms signed signature, throwing my bookbag over my shoulder. I jogged down the steps and to my car as I got ready to pick up Ryan.

Starting my car, my phone buzzed as Ryan's text name popped up.

Me: no school for me today.." I read out loud. I sucked my teeth as I knew why she didn't want to go.

Me: get yo ass dressed, be ready to go in 5." I wrote back. She left me on read, but I was sure she got the picture. Driving to her house, I parked and waited patiently. She came out in her PJs and I gritted my teeth as she got in.

Ryan: Reese, please. I want to stay home today."  she said, looking at me.

Me: foe what Ryan?" I snapped.

Ryan: because I don't want to sit there and watch everyone in class give Mrs. Clover their permission slips." she said.

Ryan: I don't want to watch you give yours, knowing that I cant go with you." she said, looking at me. Her eyes were glossy and I could tell that she spent all night thinking about this.

Ryan: so have a good day, and don't be mad at me." she mumbled.

I nodded slowly and pointed to my lips. She leaned over and kissed my lips as I held her by her neck. Giving her a few more kisses, I let her go as she climbed out. She closed my door, and walked inside with her head down.

Sighing, I waited for her to close her door. Backing out I made my way to school.

Coming into the parking lot, I pulled in next to Dion as Senia leaned over and frowned as my front seat was empty. Looking at the time, I had arrived a little late today, trying to get Ryan to come with.

Gathering my bag, I hopped out the car and closed it as everyone looked for Ryan.

Senia: where is she?" she frowned.

Me: not coming." I said.

Me: she aint want to see us give in our permission slips." I said. Senia's frown turned into a sad expressions as she held her permission slip in her hand.

Senia: I'm not going on this trip." she mumbled. She was about to tear her permission slip up as I stopped her.

Me: Ryan would kill me, then you if you did that." I warned.

Senia: why you?" she giggled.

Me: because if you did it, she would kill me for not stopping you." I laughed.

Me: Ryan wants us all to go and have fun, she just didn't want to see us give in our permission slips." I said. They nodded with me and we headed inside together. Taking my seat, Ryan's empty seat was very noticeable as Mrs. Clover started class.

Mrs Clover: good morning my lovelies!" she smiled. The class barely spoke back, making her smile fade.

Mrs. Clover: and why the long faces, come on it is Monday!" she said, trying to cheer us up.

Jordan: Mrs. C we don't want to be here." he said, making the class laugh. She sucked her teeth and fanned him off as she went around her desk.

Mrs. Clover: well on a better note, today isn't going to be much. We are starting a new documentary today. However this one is going to be watched in class." she said. She pulled up her computer and fixed her screen as the blackboard came down.
