Almost a week had passed since Cody adjusted himself back at school. That Bruce and his little cronies didn't give him any trouble since Loona came to Cody's aid, which was good. That Bruce was lucky that Loona didn't maul him into pieces of raw meat at that time, or that she didn't literally break his neck like a easily-breakable toothpick or a twig int he middle of the forest. But, enough of that. Cody was in class and it was almost the end of the day for him at school, and Miss Stacey saw how eager the students were in going home, and she said: "Now remember class, you have to finish this book report by the end of the week. Just find a good book and give it a good read, and then have it formatted .
Cody wondered what kind of book he should read for his report. Some of the things didn't interest him, and didn't really feel like doin this kind of book report. Despite this, he managed to take care of most of his homework, but he had an idea: Stolas could help him out with finishing the rest since he is very knowledgeable in countless things.
It was many kids' least favorite things in their schoolwork; book reports, both oral and written out reports from it. Rules are rules and he had to abide to those rules, whether they were ridiculous or not. He remembered something and he needed to go tell his own grandfather that he wasn't dead. Cody's parents were dead, but his grandparents were both alive (but for how long?) He had an idea, and hoped they were not dead yet.
As soon as the bell rang, Cody was outside and Loona was already waiting for him, smiling and waving. "did you have a good day, kiddo?"
"Uh-huh. Look, before we get back, I need to do something."
"What is it?" Loona asked
"I need to visit my grandparents. They probably think I'm dead. I don't want to risk giving them a heart attack because they think I'm dead."
"Oh. Do they live far?"
"No, just three miles from here. They live on a farm. My grandpa used to be a soldier before he retired."
"Huh. OK, let me call Blitzo." Loona did just that, and told his adoptive father what was going on, which he approved. "Gah, that Blitzo." Loona rolled her eyes while nodding her head sideways, looking obviously annoyed with how Blitzo treats her. "He treats me like a baby sometimes."
"Why can't he just treat you like a big girl? You're a full-grown woman."
"Try telling him that, Cody." Loona smirked. "But come on. You lead, i'll follow."
The boy smiled and walked three miles that lead to a large farm overheard, and he was happy to see it in a long while (two years to be exact). "Here we are." said Cody. "They'll be happy to see me when I come in the house.
"Fuck, I hope they aren't too judgemental." said Loona under her breath with her arms crossed.
"What's that, Loona?"
"Nothing! yeah nothing." Deep down, she wondered if these were the mormon grandparents that Cody mentioned to her and IMP before, and she probably didn't even want to think about it. "Nah, who am I kidding." she said in her head: "They'll never know what I really am anyway." She followed Cody to the farmhouse and he rang the doorbell. It was quiet for a minute, and Cody rang it again.
"I'm coming, i'm coming." said an old man's voice. It took a little while, and Loona was tapping her right foot, waiting for someone to come answer it. At last, the door slowly opened and revealed an old man that had a bony, and veiny figure and a stubble. The first thought Luna had was that he looked like a lion a little bit, a very old thin and bony lion with semi-long hair reaching his shoulders like a mane, and he had some veins showing on his arms, and he had a cane, indicating that he was slightly crippled. It gave the impression of looking a little bit like Willie Nelson. It wouldn't be a surprise if someone mistakes him for that country singer, or even like Iggy Pop, but with silver hair instead of blonde.
He was a little shorter than Loona and didn't know what to make of the disguised hellhound, but when he saw Cody deep down, he gasped. "Cody?" he said, dropping his cane in surprise. "Is that really you?"
"Hi grandpa." Cody smiled.
"Oh god be praised." said the old man, feeling like crying. "Come here, give me a hug, kiddo." Cody did just that, but was careful not to hold him too tight since elderly people's bones are more fragile. "I am so happy to see you again, Cody. "When I heard about the fire... I... assumed the worst." he looked back and called out: "Honey! Cody's here!"
"Cody?" said an elderly woman's voice. She rushed out wearing a yellow shirt, and she was bony too. However, she had a Lucille Ball hairstyle for her grey hair, and she was wearing jeans with an apron over her clothes like she was cooking something.
"Oh my god. I am so glad you are ok!" she ran up to him to hug him, and she was doing it in a rather rough manner.
"Whoa whoa whoa, easy there, lady." Loona intervened. "You might squeeze him to death if you're not careful." she sounded uninterested in her tone of voice like she would normally be like. The grandparents looked at Loona and the grandmother immediately put him down.
"And who might you be?" asked the grandfather
"This is Loona." said Cody. "She saved me from the fire from burning to death."
"Did she now." said the old man. "Well, we are very praised that you saved our little man. God bless you."
"I wouldn't go there." said Loona. "And i don't really liked to be touched."
"Oh." the grandfather frowned. "I understand. My name is Ed. This is my wife Beatrice."
"A pleasure, I guess." Loona rolled her eyes.
"I came here to make sure you guys knew I wasn't dead."
"We're really glad you did." said Beatrice. "We have been so worried, sweetie."
"Well I'm fine, grandma."
