You were quirkless like your brother. And a girl.
Two disadvantages in a society with superpowers. Easy to take advantage of. Izuku always was your protector, coming to your aid whenever you were harassed.
He always got hurt.
So, you took it upon yourself to train until you could fight. And once you did, you could fight anyone off, protecting Izuku, who was ashamed he wasn't able to protect you.
You fought anyone who tried to mess with your brother, Katsuki Bakugo included. And today was another one of those days.
"Fuck off." You glared at him, unmoving from your spot.
"(Y-Y/n), it's okay! Don't get hurt, please..."
"I'll be fine." You sharpened your glare, trying to get Katsuki to back off.
"You fuck off. You think someone like you can defeat me, huh?"
"No, but I sure as hell can throw a punch."
"I'd like to see you try, punk."
You swung quickly, throwing him off guard at how quick it was. He couldn't see it at all, and it took him a moment to process that he had been hit. His lackeys started laughing and teasing him until he made explosions in his hands.
"Now you're asking for it."
He grabbed the collar of your school uniform, his other hand raised.
"Go for it!" You yelled back, hands grabbing onto his.
Izuku shoved you aside, taking the hit. Your eyes widened at his sudden intervention, anger quickly boiling inside you.
You turned back to Katsuki, throwing another punch.
"You bastard!!"
Then came a tumbling of throwing punches and desks getting knocked over, teachers coming in to stop the fight. And another suspension on your record, again.
Your mom, Inko, had to be called in for a conference, and as usual, Katsuki had to apologize thanks to his mom. Well, you did too but Katsuki had taken the blame for starting a fight.
Your mom scolded you on the way home as she dragged you along with Izuku, who guiltily moped. Your face ached whenever you talked, bandages on your face thanks to Katsuki's explosions. Arriving at home, you kicked your shoes off and stomped to your room, but not before grabbing some snacks.
Izuku fixed your shoes, sighing.
"I'm sorry, Izuku. If only I had done something to educate (Y/n)..." Inko sighed, feeling disappointed in herself.
"She was just protecting herself. I don't think there's anything wrong with that." He replied, slipping his backpack off to hang it on the hook near the entrance.
"I understand, but fighting someone who's much stronger than you?"
"(Y/n) is strong." Izuku returned, "Plus, Kacchan won't stop bothering her until she fights him."
"I...don't know anymore." She sighed, opening the fridge to prepare food. "I'll call you for dinner later, okay?"
"Mhm."
Izuku opened the door to the hallway, knocking on your door.
"Come in."
He twisted the doorknob to see you laying in bed, watching a movie on your phone as you ate snacks.
"Uhm..."
"Sit or whatever. Just don't bother me."
"Thanks for earlier, (Y/n). I mean it."
"Yeah, sure." You weren't one to accept thanks so easily, as you didn't think it was much.
"You should probably stop fighting Kacchan. I know he's the one who's starting them but...try to avoid them. I don't want to see you getting hurt." He sat on your bed, grabbing some of your snacks.
"There's no avoiding them. He's an annoying prick."
"But still..."
"Yeah, yeah, I get it."
"And (Y/n)?"
"Hm?"
"I love you."
"Yeah, sure."
He smiled, ruffling your hair before leaving to his room. He admired his younger sister's ability to be so strong. He couldn't help but feel guilty because he now had a quirk that would be handed off to him.
And in the future, he'd come to wish that he never gained that power.
