A/N: Please be aware that this is a slowburn. It's most likely that they will not begin to develop feelings until the summer training arc or further. Also, there are no spoilers, this follows the anime! Up until season 4, the plot is made up by me! If you do not like that, you are free to not read this book ^^

As you stood outside, waiting for the hybrid boy, you received a message. You checked it as you took the flight of stairs down. Shoto had arrived.

For today's lesson, it was about how to be sensitive to other people and how to respond to situations. Shoto waited down the steps, hands stuffed into his pockets. You dare say, he looked fine in casual clothing.

He heard your footsteps, looking up to see you coming down. You weren't dressed up much, only a t-shirt, sweater, and some comfy pants. Compared to him, you were like the ugly duckling, and he was the cute duckling.

The ugly duckling eventually becomes beautiful, so you probably will, you concluded. You stood in front of him, waiting for him to say something.

"Uh...you look nice."

You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. "Is this a date or a friendly get together?"

"I'm assuming the latter."

"Exactly. Redo it."

"Hello."

"And...?"

He pondered for a moment before replying, "how've you been?"

"Off to a good start. However, you wouldn't say that to your friend, would you? Consider saying, how's it going? Or what's up?"

"Ah, okay. Ahem. Hello, how's it going?"

"Better! Now from here, what now?"

"Uhm..."

He thought back to the texts you sent. "Shall...we get going to the arcade?"

"Shall is a bit too formal. But, I don't think you should change it. I feel like it's a part of your personality."

"Oh, thanks. Let's get going, then."

He was off to a great start. Soon he'll be speaking fluently without hurting other people's feelings. You tried to push him to create a bit of conversation that wasn't just small talk.

He seemed to enjoy talking about the things he was interested in, such as watching the stars, eating soba, and spending his dad's credit card. You were very much interested in his hobbies, especially his dad's credit card. Eventually, you got to the arcade.

"Which game do you want to play first?" He asked, heading to the counter to purchase tokens.

"I don't mind. I'm just here to play any games."

"Then let's do the racing car one."

You grinned, "seems fun. Let's go."

You dragged him by the sleeve, sliding into the right seat. He sat in the left, placing his hands on the wheel. You used the stick to choose your options.

"Ready?" You asked him as you pressed start.

"I suppose."

The countdown started, you immediately pressing on the gas. You shot forward, body tensing as you tried to control the car. Shoto was a bit clueless, driving the car like a granny.

"Todoroki! Press the gas! We're racing! You have to be faster than me, okay?!"

"Oh. Okay."

He had a knack for driving or something, because he caught up to you quickly. You were growing anxious, as he was getting a bit too close. Up ahead was a one way pathway.
