"She's so cute in there." Amerie stared at the baby who lay fast asleep in her car seat with her small fists clenched.

Her light brown pigmented skin, that brushed deeper melanin as the days passed, enhanced her every feature. Her lightly parted full lips rippled slightly with every exhale she took in her sleep, followed by the light movement of her small nose as she inhaled back. Her shut long eye-lashed eyelids showcased the blue veins that ran wildly, entangled in with the red ones the doctor already confirmed would go away once she grew a little darker in the coming weeks and months.

The deep dimples in both her cheeks indented her face occasionally as a result of her light tongue sucking out of comfort. Amerie noticed the little things she did already, noticed the small stuff about her appearance. Such as the birth mark right under her left ear, and the curliness of the kinks in her full head of hair.

"She gon be hot with all them blankets, it's 90 degrees out there." Syre crouched down to take away the purple fluffy blanket Amerie tucked into the car seat, alongside the thinner blue one right under it. "She don't need these socks either." He shook his head, taking off the tiny pink thick soft socks on both her feet.

"I didn't know how it felt out there, I just didn't want her to be cold." She stuffed the hospital bag back with the things he handed to her from her seat on the bed.

Amerie's eyes followed Syre who carefully adjusted Malani back in the car seat as best as possible without waking her up. "Relax mama." He whispered once her nose began to wrinkle up and a small frown coated her lips, but the sound of her fathers voice relaxed her almost instantly.

Amerie allowed him space to get the baby together while she grabbed the hospital bag in one hand, and her purse in the other. She couldn't had felt any more relieved finally being cleared from the hospital after 4 days. She hated the environment as a whole, everything about it gave her weird vibes. And it didn't help that she easily picked up on the weird behavior between Syre and her doctor, but she didn't question it or mention it. She had better things to worry about, such as her baby, and as long as he didn't cheat, which she knew he wouldn't, she couldn't care less in that moment.

"You ready baby?" Syre glanced over his shoulder as he gripped the handle of the pink car seat. He watched his girlfriend double check the room to make sure they were good before she nodded with a small smile. "You good to walk or-."

"You're so cute, but I'm not handicapped." She tapped his back gently to get him to start on walking.

In reality, she was in a fit of pain. But she knew telling him, he wouldn't let her out the bed for weeks and she didn't want to stress him out stressing about her.
