" Sir the meeting is in two minutes." A lady came in to remind Sky as he was already standing up to attend to business as usual. He was a conglomerate owner. He rose from obscurity to where he was today. Influential and unstoppable. He had known only one way and it was up. The last three years of his life seemed like a dream. He couldn't even fathom how Moss had come to make him the owner of his sub company and handed it over to him to build up. It was already thriving but he made some impact in making it what it was. Moss was an amazing person to him who showed him the ropes and made things clearer to him. They both had another friend who was Rain.
Rain had a big restaurant that was also handed over to him by Moss with no strings attached. Rain established it and it had branches in many parts of the world. It was a Three Star restaurant and he lived in his apartment building behind. He had dismantled the house to build a pent house which his floor was at the top. Rain and Sky knew only themselves. Sky tried so many times to get into a relationship but failed as he couldn't bring himself to committing to it and had to pass. He had gotten many admirers but felt unsatisfied with each one. Rain on the other hand was dealing with a guy who wanted to be with him but wanted him to share the company with him as his partner. Rain couldn't bring himself to and they had a big fight and ended it all. But the guy apologized and asked for forgiveness. He was going to gossip about it to his friends later in the day.
On arriving the bar, Sky waved at him as he was already seated. Rain hurried to meet his friend. He looked around before asking
" Where's Moss?"
" He said he'll be a bit late, he called earlier."
" Sky, I think my life is getting harder."
" How so? You have everything going for you, a good company, a great relationship a..."
" Not so great relationship though."
" Rain, what did you do?"
" Why do you assume I did something?"
" Because I know you, you're never satisfied."
" Well, this time it's not my fault. Jeer wants my company, or a share of it before he proposes as a sign that I love him. That's just preposterous."
" So what did you do?
"I broke up." Rain said with a smile on his face
" Nice choice." Sky raised his glass and clinked with Rain's
" Thank you, thank you very much." Rain said with a smile
" Do you still have those dreams?" Sky asked Rain looking a bit serious now.
" Yes, but you have the same dreams as I do. I never see the face, but each time I hear the voice it sounds...
" FAMILIAR." they spoke at the same time. Before Sky could continue, Moss had arrived. They welcomed him with handshakes and started small talk with him.
" What were you guys on about?" He asked.
" Nothing important, just work related." Moss was a close friend to them but for some reason, they both had their reservations. They felt intimate discussions were best kept within themselves. Before when the dreams came, Sky had confided in Moss about them but he noticed that each time he did, a part of his memory faded away. So he advised Rain to not do the same thing he did.
After the night out, Sky and Rain both boarded cabs and went home. Sky climbed up the steps to his room, he looked left and saw the other room that had been locked for years. For some reason anytime he faced the room, a certain fear gripped him. He found himself either sobbing loudly or, losing appetite but today was different, he felt confident enough to open the door. He breathed heavily first, expecting a monster to creep outside to scare him. To his utmost surprise, there was nothing. A familiar smell filled the air. No one had been in his house but the room felt intimated with him. He walked slowly in, looking around. He stared at the bed for a long time and finally took the courage to lay on the bed. Tears began to fall from his eyes again. From silent sobbing, it got louder. " What am I forgetting that I shouldn't forget? Why does my heart ache so much for something that I don't even know about?" Sky lay there immobile and frozen. Like before, he cried himself to sleep.
Rain on the other hand got home in a jolly mood. His phone was bombarded with missed calls from his ex, messaged telling him to take him back. Rain didn't even bother checking it. He went straight to his room, plopped down on the bed. At the head of the bed there was a paper with rules written. When he returned to his place of work he had cleaned but never noticed the paper till one day he was getting rid of the cobwebs in the ceiling, that was when he saw it. A paper with his handwriting and another person. He tried to remember but he couldn't. Rain was stuck looking at the paper. He turned away and looked at the ceiling. Rain had been having dreams of someone hugging him and leaving him. He had begged the person to stay but he never did. Rain held his chest. He quickly rushed for his medication for anxiety and insomnia. He never had it, but developed it three years ago. He took the drug with the bottle water by his bed side. He had to breath heavily to find his breathing pattern again. Rain was hurting badly but could not explain why.

" Sir the forces are advancing, we need to run away." A man in white screamed.
" Just wait a bit The Mard Lord will soon come."
In no time, Prapai came. As ferocious as ever. He lifted his hands and without a time to think, he buried all armies advancing against Carityl. Prapai did it with a dead look on his face. There was no emotion whatsoever. The turned to look at his people and said. " You can all go home, it's over." And disappeared. A battle that was to last at least two days ended in a second. The warriors of Carityl saddled their horses and turned to return home. They gossiped amongst themselves.
"Two years ago, The Mard King Prapai had a smile on his face. But after the Lord Council he called, it seemed like he was drained of all happiness in his life."
" Do you remember we stopped calling him the Mard King until he became ruthless again at the battle of Theid. He killed the men without looking back, his body was stained with blood, and not once did he flinch.
" Protector Prapai feels like a shadow."
Prapai returned to his home. He went to the sink outside and washed his hands. He had a dead stare and had forgotten how to smile. There was nothing to protect, just people who worshipped and feared him. He went to his bed, lay down and slept.

Payu never left his house. He was reliving Priscilla's death all over again. Something was just missing but he didn't know what so for two years, Payu outcasted himself. Just coming out when needed. He felt useless and unwanted. Payu was like a mute, he never spoke.

Moss sent spies to monitor the four of them. He needed to return to Carityl, he was to get Prapai for himself as he made the Lord Council wipe their memories as well. Prapai couldn't remember Sky and Payu couldn't remember Rain. He was winning and he knew it.
