Chapter 89: More Than Lost

He was looking directly at him again, Rain saw this dashing chef. He was the owner of the place obviously, but Rain was gone. He got lost staring at him. What brought him back to reality was the man hugged him. Rain's eyes widened. Payu realized quickly his mistake and apologized
" I'm so sorry, you looked like someone I knew." Payu said to calm the situation. Sky noticed the sparks between both of them and gave a knowing look.
" It's fine. I was just taken aback that's all."
" So to compensate you both, the food is on the house."
" You don't have to... I.. ouch."
Before Rain could finish that statement, Sky pinched him on the arm.
" Thank you, we'll accept anything and my friend here will accept your help. Won't you, Rain?"
Sky stared at him and Rain smiled.
They both sat down and one after the other several meals were brought in. One of each. Sky felt his stomach was about to explode and the next day he was going to resume at the office so he had to be prepared. They called for the chef and thanked him for everything. Payu saw this as an opportunity and turned to Rain
" Hi, my name is Payu, I own these restaurants and what's yours?
" It's Rain, the foods were delicious if I might add.". Payu took this as an opportunity and asked
" If you don't mind, will you like to eat here some other time. It will be on me."
" I don't think I'll be able to afford the meal."
" I'm not asking you to pay, I'm asking you to eat with me." Payu was indeed bold. Rain looked at him for sometime before answering. " Okay, I'll eat with you."
" Thanks " Payu went back inside. Rain had no idea what he had just done but he felt his leg feel wobbly. Sky had to hold him to steady him. Rain couldn't explain what he felt but he gushed to Sky
" No guy this fine has ever asked me out before. I think my luck is about to change I feel..."
Sky gave him a knock on the head.
" Go back in there and get his number, how do you expect to contact him for your date if you have no way to speak to him."
" Ah... That's true." Before he turned to go back in, a staff met him at the door with a card.
" My boss is quite busy right now but he said I should give this to you and he also told me to beg you that you should call him."
Rain felt like he was floating on the clouds. He couldn't quite explain it but he was so happy. Sky just looked at his friend. He did feel happy for him. Rain didn't open up much and was quite an introvert who was really comfortable with him enough to open up to him. Sky got a taxi and they went to their various houses.
The next morning Sky woke up very early to go to work, he bathed put on a black suit and was ready to go. Compared to his previous life, he was more unkempt and it didn't bother him. He didn't see the need to look top notch he just wanted to work. He got to the road and discovered he had missed the bus, his mum's number was not going through to ask for her car. He had to wait for another bus which took a very long time to arrive. On getting to the office, briefing for the new employees had been given. Sky ran to meet the executive in charge. He apologized for coming late. She looked him head to toe and laughed as if to scorn him she said " and he picked you, you, that look like you fell out of a garbage can." Sky felt so bad about this. He could feel like he was shrinking the more she spoke.
" Here's your ID card. I give you three days. Khun Prapai would fire you. I was here so many other competent people too. I think three days is even too much." She walked away pointing to Prapai's office. Sky shrunk, the bullying was too much. The looks he got even made matters worse. Sky cleaned the droplets that came out of his eyes, regained a bit to composure and knocked on the door. On opening it, he saw the man again. The one with the fancy shoes. He stared at Sky a bit before he said anything
" Sit down." The command was loud and instantly Sky sat down. He felt a bit shaky as the boss was not saying anything to him. He was operating his laptop quietly. Sky gave brief stares at him. He had a rough morning and didn't sleep too well last night as he was giddy about the job. All of these began to tell on him as his eyes felt heavy. He tried his best to stay away but he soon began to drift. In no time he was lying comfortably on the couch legs stretched and all. The office was well conditioned and the only thing one could hear was the typing away of Prapai. When Pai noticed Sky had slept off, he stopped typing and went closer. He could not stop himself from fawning over Sky. He was as delicate as ever. He was a bit scrawny with his hair and appearance but that didn't matter. Sky was right in front of him, he was just there. No way to move forward or backward. Pai felt his heart tighten. Twenty two years of waiting, of mourning what they shared together. It was entirely new memories he had to make with him but he didn't quite mind. One thing was certain for Pai, his heart still beat the same. It was too obvious that he was still in love with him and nothing had changed. He still made his heart feel excited. He was going to scold Sky and offer as much help as he can. Even give him the world, but he needed to do it in an obligatory kind of way. Pai went back to his seat to focus on work. Just then Amari came in. She was the lady who scolded Sky earlier as she was a second in command at the company. On entering, she didn't knock. She went straight to Pai and was explaining some things to him, then she turned and saw a sleeping Sky. Her countenance changed immediately to that of displeasure and disgust. She was about to shout at him. Pai stood up and said " let him sleep , when he wakes up, we can talk to him, but for now focus." She turned to look at her boss and nodded in agreement. They both sat down and continued working, she came in and left several times but Sky was still deep asleep. This aggravated matters the more.
Two hours later Sky eventually woke up. He stretched and was met with eyes of disdain. He stood up quickly and adjusted his outfit. She didn't even wait for Pai to talk before attacking Sky verbally " does this look like a hotel to you or your father's house. I'm pretty sure your father can't even build a house this good."  Sky felt that; he lowered his head. She didn't stop there
" For your absolute lack of disrespect you're hereby fi..."
" That's enough!" Pai had seen enough of her dramatics.
" I know you can fire whoever you want but this is my person, I hand picked him to be my PA so you can't touch him."
" Sorry sir." She quickly apologized and straightened her character.
Facing Sky he asked
" Why are you late to work."
"..." Silence, Sky was too afraid to say a word.
" if you don't answer me I will..." Pai ended there. He had no threats for Sky, he never did. Sky could do no wrong in his eyes so he changed his tone to a more softer one.
" Why were you late?"
" I... I missed the bus and couldn't get a vehicle to bring me and so I walked a while to see one."
" What happened to the car of yesterday."
" It belongs to my mom, she wasn't picking up so... I... You saw my car?"
" Yes, we all did. I'm still surprised it's moving on the road. It looks like an environmental hazard."Amari said mockingly.
Pai spoke up.
" Where do you stay?" Sky mentioned the place. Pai's mind was made up, he called his secretary in. Sky felt his heart skip faster. He thought he was getting fired. He was going to beg. On both knees. He would crawl if he had to. When his secretary came in, Pai began.
" I can't work with an ineffective PA, he lives too far away and doesn't even have a car."
" I'm sorry sir, I'll get you another one..." The secretary said
" And if the other one lives far away, what happens then? That's aside. For You Mr Sky I won't give you a reason to leave, so listen, One of my apartment building goes to you so you have no reason to come late. Its a bit far but closer to this place than where you stay. Regarding the car, I'll let you drive my previous car. I got tired of it so I parked it. That's all, all of you leave my office. Secretary show him where everything is. Tomorrow is Saturday, you have to be packed in and prepped for Monday. Secretary check the house, anything lacking let me know. And Sky, you have no right to oppose. I want to work with someone who can give me their all when we work together. Not one being sad and moping when coming to work. That's all."
Instantly everyone left the office. Pai was going to be his sugar daddy this time around. He had enough. He would spend it all.
