Chapter 38: Best Friends

Sky woke up feeling very tired. They both were. He tried to get up but had excruciating pains. Pai took it upon himself to take care of his love for the day, he got a warm bath running and even got painkillers and food. They both lazied around the whole day. It was quite refreshing. They watched movies, played games, it was really something spectacular . A particular memory kept disturbing Sky but he shook it off as nothing. This same memory haunted Rain. He was quite scared that it might have actually happened. He needed to speak to Sky to clear the air about it. Rain had the best couple of days acting around Payu. He made it difficult. Payu couldn't help but find Rain's failed attempts of hiding the fact that they were together hilarious.
The next day, they had a team dinner. Tai and the other two workers Jimmy and Samie. They each took a seat. Payu reserved the space beside him for Rain. He was running late because it was raining. When he eventually arrived and saw the sitting arrangement. He went and sat beside Tai. Payu was visibly upset by this and said " I reserved a seat for you here. " Rain responded by saying " we are so close at the office, it's okay if I sat here, it's no big deal." Payu was upset and stared at Rain for a while before bending his head and accepting defeat. The food was presented and again Rain tried to avoid everything involving Payu. Payu excused himself and left for the restroom. Rain followed excusing himself too. When he entered he saw Payu washing his face and came close to hugging him. Payu didn't respond which was strange. Rain asked
" P'Payu are you Okay." Payu moved away from his hold and said " if this is how we're going to be it's better we don't even start anything. I know... I know I'm overreacting but it kinda hurts you know. I can't touch you or even play friendly with you."
" It's not my fault. I just wanted us to strictly be business partners when we are doing business."
" This is a company dinner, not a date, the least I expected was for you to just sit beside me. I wanted to hold your cold hands under the table. It's not too much to ask is it?"  Rain accepted that he was being unreasonable too.
" Fine, I'm sorry I wasn't thinking."
" I'm pretty sure the people you're hiding this from would probably be thinking we are getting it on in here." To this Rain ran outside to their table and looked at all their faces
" How many of you know?" P'Tai who looked at him an said
" Know about your failed attempt to hide that you're dating. We all know."
" Yes sir, but why do you have to pretend. It's clear you both deserve yourselves so stop. We wouldn't judge you sir. But I'm sure Khun Payu was not happy."
When Payu got out of the restroom, Rain had moved seat. He was now beside Payu's. He was shy but since Payu was happy it was worth it. As they were walking they were close to the house. A memory flashed his mind which made him almost fall. Luckily for him Payu was there to hold him " Rain... Rain... What's wrong?"
" Nothing, I just feel strange."
Payu bent down and lifted Rain on his back and took him home. He was starting to get a fever so he got him drugs for it and put a towel over his head. Rain fell into a deep sleep.
Sky and Prapai were going shopping and had changed their matching outfits when they got to the door, Sky had the same flashback and fell to the ground. Pai wanted to call a doctor but Sky informed him it wasn't so serious and he just needed to sleep. Pai nodded and let him lie down. During the time they were together, Rain and Sky were never fully conscious of what had transpired in that house, but today like a force that dragged them together, they saw everything that happened and it was more traumatic for them. When they were brought in, all the people Moss worked with were gathered together. When they came in, he mocked them both. " These are the men our Immortals fell for." Moss really was despicable. He told all the people there to touch the mortals who had conquered their lords. All the people touched them, so appropriately, others inappropriately. It was horrible. He had all power at that moment so he told both Rain and Sky to dance till their legs bled. Moss laughed. For the event they both slept together he made everyone watch and laugh. Sky wasn't sure what the memory was but he felt so dirty. Rain on the other hand saw himself jump out of a window, heard everything he said while he was there. He knew the memories were bad, but now he saw them, he felt so awful. They had both been in really bad places. Rain woke up and rushed to the bathroom. He vomited everything he had eaten that night. Payu was worried thinking it was because he was drunk, but it was far worse. Rain got a sponge with soap and started washing his body. He turned the water on and although it was really cold but he didn't mind at all. He started scrubbing. Rain couldn't believe what had happened and knew why this particular memory refused to return.
Sky woke up from it and became stiff. He was pale. He didn't talk or move. He just lifted his head. His eyes were placed on the ground. When he finally opened his mouth the first thing he said was " Rain... I need to see Rain..."
" When?" Prapai who was currently so nervous thinking Sky was about to do something. Sky just nodded and said " now, I need to see him now." Their trip was cut short. They went to the car. Sky picked up his phone from the under the car seat and turned it on. He went to the passenger side. He called Rain's phone and Payu picked up.
" Hello...
" How is Rain."
" He is not fine, he just felt feverish and now he isn't even talking to me. He is taking a shower now, and by the looks of it, he will soon start bleeding."
" I'm on my way... P'Payu just hold him, down I'll be there soon. Keep him safe okay.
" Okay."
Payu cut off the call and ran to the bathroom. He took the sponge from him hand and Rain screamed " stay away from me, Moss, don't you touch me... Stay away."
" It's me Payu."
"No, Payu wouldn't hurt me like this."

The car journey was taking too long so Sky asked Prapai to stop the car. They both came down. Sky held onto Prapai. " Let's go to Rain."
