Chapter 52: Breaking

"I'll throw Sky a party."
" Would he like that?"
" I don't care Payu, I'm desperate, maybe a grand gesture would work on him."
" Pai, do you know your man Sky?
" I don't care, I'll just have to go this far to win him and as for you, you still owe that man an apology."
Payu had hoped that when Rain saw him, all the words he had said would be forgotten and Rain would let bygones be bygones. Prapai had hoped that after his sweet gestures, Sky would fall back in love with him. They were both so wrong. Sky would give Prapai the side eye from every angle and look at him like he was nothing. Rain would physically avoid Payu and pretend he doesn't see him. This punishment was worse than getting stabbed every single day because he knew back then that Sky was there for him, cheering him on, and being a support system. But now, he was no where to be seen. Prapai preferred enduring the sword that for Sky to give him deaf ears. Sky made him so happy but since his return, he has been unable to even smile. Except for the night he was drunk, that was the only familiar night be remembered seeing a glimpse of his love. He had a plan. Prapai was to make a grand gesture and confess to everyone that he was in love with Sky. He was well prepared to take up the responsibility as he was in love with him. As he left his office with the event planner, thanking her for coming. She had a big note in her hand that took down everything he had said. Pai had a thought
" go big or go home." He planed on making the event so grand that Sky would have no other choice than to fall back in love with him. He passed by Sky's office and saw him hugging someone. On close inspection, that someone turned out to be Fragile's CEO Praew. Prapai turned and returned to his office. The event planner followed wondering what had happened. " Cancel the event. I don't think the celebrant would be happy." Prapai was so misunderstood. He knew it but in the moment he was angrier. The event planner left and immediately Prapai called for Sky to his office. Sky entered not knowing what was happening, Prapai was visibly upset. Pai began " I saw your chart for the fiscal year and I hate it, I want it redone."
" Khun Pai, the chart was clearly fine and you approved of it."
" Now I'm disapproving."
" Okay sir, when do you want it?"
" Today."
" But sir, making a new one from scratch would be hectic and time consuming and I have to go out."
" Sky, I need it today and you would not leave this office till it's done."
" P'Pai are you okay?"  Sky walked forward completely confused about what was happening
" Now you call me P'Pai. Leave my office!"  Sky stepped back. He turned and left. Sky took his time and worked on the chart. It was already midnight and he was exhausted. He finished it and returned it to Prapai's office. Prapai took it and kept it aside. He was still looking at Sky who was slightly terrified because he had never seen this side of Pai before. " Are you okay? what's wrong?"
" Would you desert me Sky?"
" I don't understand what are you talking about?"
" This game you're playing is it fun for you."
" P'Pai, I'm not playing a game with you, I'm trying to..."
" To what Sky, make me lose my mind? Or make me weak in front of you. Sky you win. It's working...
" P'Pai, should I tell you why I'm doing this?"
" No! I'm done."
" Who's speaking, P'Pai the one who is committed to Carityl or P'Pai the one who is in love with me or the one who would be willing to do. Anything if he's threatened?" Pai didn't answer.
" P'Pai, okay, I was really upset, extremely upset. You let me go so easily that I was speechless. I got so lost. Pai it was hard, really hard and then the cheating accusation."
" Sky, I would never."
" I believe you, when you returned I believed you, but what got me so upset was the fact you keep making decisions without consulting me, even if it concerned me. I always heard it later, after the decision had been taken. The same thing happened when you took the sword punishment and when you called me a liability, I felt it, even if it was just something you said that to you meant nothing, Pai it made me realize how you saw me. How you always decision without me. It hurt, that was why I wanted to show you, I'm fine. I really am, so you have to trust me more, but clearly the purpose of this just flys over your head."
" I understand but then I even wanted to throw a party for you to show you how much I love you."
" P'Pai, you know I hate parties."
" But if it made you talk to me I would do it."
"P'Pai, were you actually listening to anything I was saying?"
" Clearly, but that doesn't explain why you were hugging the Fragile CEO."
" P'Pai that's irrelevant, something was in my eye and he was trying to..."
" Sky I think at this juncture, you're finding too much pleasure punishing me that you started to like it, now it just seems like a mini game to you. Let's see how Pai would react when I do this or do that."
" Is that how you took this, my attempt to show you I'm strong became a promiscuous act to get other guys."
" Sky, isn't that what it is?" Sky stood there dumbfounded. Prapai continued
" What do you want for me? I go to my realm and return, I did everything you want from me, Sky I was willing to die for you if you let me."
" P'Pai, I didn't ask for any of this, you, the plant, none of it."
" So do you regret being with me."
" Never but..."
" As far as there is a but then you regret it."
" Sky, its not what you think, I just."
" Tired, it was only a few days and all of this have come up, if it was longer then I'm sure I would have been single."
" Sky, I'm sorry. Okay it's not...
" What P'Pai. He was helping me clean my eyes, he was only help me clean it. He came to ask for sponsorship and if I was still interested. I told him my answer would always be no, he asked if I had someone and I replied: someone far better than you. I really should have said no one."
" Sky..."
" Prapai..." Sky was about to shed tears but held in it. He walked out of the office. Prapai followed him out, he really wanted to hold him but saw the janitor and withheld himself, Sky was still walking till Prapai shouted " as your boss please stop." Sky turned and said
" If you had said as your boyfriend stop, I would have."  Sky turned and walked away. He was broken inside and there was no recovery.

Payu stood in front of Rain's door. It was pretty late but he stayed there. He didn't move till Rain returned. With him was flowers and groceries. Rain looked at him and asked " what are you doing here?"
" My job, Rain, my job." Payu opened the door for Rain, bent down and took off his shoes. He held his hand and took him inside. He made him sit and went to the kitchen to cook. Rain went to freshen up and by the time he was back, the meal was set on the table. Rain picked up his spoon but Payu stopped him. " I'll feed you." Payu took it from his hands and fed Rain. They eventually rested on the chair. Payu got on both knees. " It's obvious, I don't need to protect you, you protect me, I can't stop helping you, I can't stop loving you I'm sorry Rain. My words must have really hurt." Rain was silent. Payu stood up and went to his back and started massaging it. " I'll keep being a light for you. Rain I'm really so sorry, I love you so much, so so much. I can't live without you. Rain I'm obsessed with you. And it's so bad. I'm a mess without you. Rain I miss the way you take care of me, the way you drive me. I'm so happy with you, so so happy."
" So you actually love me."
" Rain , I found you, I'll hold onto you and never stop."
