Chapter 34: I'll Stand With You

Sky was serious about it.
" You can't just see the Dream Lord as you please, there's so much it entails." Payu tried to reason with Sky.
" P'Payu, he went this far to keep me  alive. I would save him whether he likes it or not. I will stand with him and stay with him. I will keep him safe. For Prapai, I would do anything." Payu saw the determination in his face and said " it's so nice that the both of you defined your relationship and are dating comfortably."
" No we aren't." Sky responded and continued " we'll define it when all of these is over." Payu nodded. Sky checked the clock and saw it was quite late. He bolted out of the apartment. Prapai needed him and he was not to be caught slacking. He told him where he was going before leaving the house.
With every passing day, Prapai became more scared. He had been someone without a care in the world as he did the bidding of the Protectors, but they were nowhere to be found when he was in distress.
Carityl was left with no Protector so the people fell into hardship. The Lord's Council head sent a substitute protector but the person was too greedy. She sent another, but he was a coward who ran away at the sight of danger. She knew the value of Prapai, but now he would be human for a while making it difficult to protect Carityl. she had a case to settle with the Dream Lord and she knew the perfect person to go with her. She came back to earth.
It was another difficult night for both of them, but Prapai found it easier as Sky was there with him. He made it through a week, but he didn't know how much longer he would last. There was an underlying fear what if a day came and he didn't wake up and dies in Sky's arms. Prapai felt shivers all over. That would be his worst nightmare. Sky was his everything at this point, and he had not even told him how he felt for him at all. His actions were speaking louder than words now and there was nothing he wanted more.
She came down and the first place she went to was the restaurant. She sat there waiting for Payu. Immediately he got out and saw her, he dropped everything in his hand and ran to her. She accepted his greetings and requested to see Sky. Rain sent a call across and Sky had to leave a sleeping Prapai. He ordered food for him and left a note. Then dashed to the restaurant. He saw her and was confused who she was. She told them to go to Payu's house to talk as the shop was filled. The other workers were instructed on what to do and they all left to the house. She didn't spare a second and lashed at Sky angrily " all these happened because of you. There was no going back for him because of you. You broke him, you made him and still shattered him. He loves you and keeps going through hell and back for you. When will it stop? Is it when he's really dead?" This confrontation made Sky step back, it came from nowhere and it hit where it hurt the most. Payu stood in front of her like a shield to block Sky who had his eyes well up in tears, but she faced him this time going all out with Payu " will you be okay? Payu will you be okay?" She smirked and continued " when Prapai your only friend and sworn brother dies, will you be okay? I remember how much you broke down for Priscilla but how much more Prapai. I might end up losing all the Protector's I have." She sat down. This was the first time he was hearing it. Sky told him Prapai was sick but didn't bother giving details. Now he was curious. He bent forward and was on the same height with her.
" What do you mean?"
" Prapai is dying, he's a human now and has to persevere for three months. The pain of the sword." Payu could not believe his ears. He faced Sky " why didn't you tell me? You only said you wanted to meet the Dream Lord, but didn't tell me why."
" Prapai told me not to tell you, he said..."
" Forget what he said, how could he go this far? Did he love you this much? This is ridiculous."
" I know, I said the same thing when I heard it. Isn't he took insignificant to go this far?"  It hit Sky like a hurricane " Why did Prapai do it?"
"Because he wanted to keep you alive. You probably saw the cuts on him, that's from his sword. He accepted this because of you and it got me thinking what if they asked him to kill himself, he would definitely have because you're worth it to him. Sky you've become Prapai's everything."
She said this without spite but Sky felt like a knife had been pierced into his heart. He could barely contain all he was hearing. He broke down. Rain had enough of everything and went to Sky, hugging him. He looked at the lady and said " I don't know who you are and I don't care to know but you can't be hurting him like this, it's not fair."  She realised she over stepped and apologized " so what do we do about Prapai? Because I'm pretty sure that he can't take another couple of days let alone three months. He would die, so I feel we have to meet the Dream Lord. I can easily pass, but I cannot bring a protector with me, that's why Prapai went. For Sky, you can pass but it will be a out of body experience. You have to fall asleep and I'll take you with me. Payu, you and Rain will have to be with Prapai tonight. I remember the eighth battle Prapai had. He sliced the head off the person. We have to stop it before he truly dies. Heal him, we'll stop this nonsense."
They all nodded and agreed. Sky went on the couch and slept off.
She took Sky to the Dream Realm. When the Dream Lord saw her, he bowed his head. After pleasantries were given it was time to talk about what she wanted
" I want Prapai back to normal."
" Ma'am, you know it's only been one week, and today would be the true test, near death experience."
" You know you went too far this time, and what if he does?"
" Then he dies. He did it for an insignificant human."
" I brought that insignificant human to you."  She moved out of the way to reveal Sky hiding behind her. Initially he laughed, till he saw the Immo Plant. He couldn't laugh anymore. The Dream Lord came closer to examine it then he said " Was Prapai sent to Protect you?"
" Yes... He was." Sky's voice was shaky as he spoke. The Dream Lord understood everything happening and said " so I'm guessing he forgot duty and fell in love with you."  The Dream Lord couldn't say anything more, there was nothing he could say. Prapai was telling the truth. To get the Lord Protector involved then he knew he must really like this person. " Fine, I'll undo it on one condition. A price."
" You can't possibly ask for a price again. The one Prapai is paying is enough for a life time." The Lord Protector was agitated already. Sky accepted whatever it would be. He was willing to pay. The Dream Lord turned around and took Prapai's sword.
" Give it to him and thank him for me. He really proved me wrong."
Sky with tears in his eyes took the sword and gave it to the Lord Protector. He bowed to the dream Lord.
" When you get back, you have to get there before the pain begins or he dies, good luck Nong Sky."
She immediately took Sky and returned to the human realm. It became a race against time to save Prapai. She didn't waste a moment and teleported with Sky to the house. Sky ran up the stairs. To meet Prapai. The instruction was crazy but he needed to do it. He placed Prapai's hand on his sword and Pierced him with it. It sunk into his body. Protector Prapai was back.
