Chapter 82: I'll Stand With You

" All of you are mentally deranged. Why do you care so much how I spend my time? Does it bug you so much that we are happy or content with what we have that you're so desperate to destroy it?" Payu said.
" D....dddd...did you just insult wise people like us?" One council member spoke.
" Right now you don't look so wise. You sound like you're more concerned about my bedding business than how much damage had been caused." Prapai spoke.
" Fine we'll ask them ourselves, what ever they say will be the judgement we give. Rain and Sky, choose whose life is more relevant, yours or your lovers?

" Look at me! Lord Council look at me!" Prapai said
" If you touch a hair on their body, I will kill each and everyone of you. I don't care how or what way I will do it, but I will."
" Pai you have me backing you."
The Lord Protector chuckled
" Prapai and Payu, you want to fight us and lose because of them? Throwing away your history and class because of love?"
" Yes! And I will do it over and over again. This is my life and my happiness. No one can take it away from me except I want."
Rain and Sky could see there was a fight about to break out and it was going to be on their account. They got a little frightened. This was not in their agenda. It looked like overprotective parents trying to help their children and they were the bad influence. All hope to stand and defend their love was lost in an instant. They came in boldly but being confronted by higher powers, they became cowardly, and now Prapai and Payu were about to lift up arms against the very people they were meant to protect. This was very wrong on their part. Sky pulled back Prapai and turned his face to look at his. Something shifted and everyone saw. He, who looked like he was about to call down fire and brimstone softened at a little touch. Some even slowly stood up to see this in awe and disbelief. He could be soft. The Bard and Psychopath could actually be soft for people. They were genuinely intrigued. One of the council members then whispered to another
" Why don't we use this to our advantage. Keep the humans and make them work for them." Another replied " that's a great idea but at what cost. Prapai and Payu would find a way around it."
After much deliberating, a conclusion was made. The Lord Protector listened to all of this and nodded.
In a twist of events, the Lord Council head lady came out and said she wanted to defend them as her plea. She got into their middle and began.
" I have known Prapai and Payu for the longest of time, defending them and helping them. I have gone through a lot with them and I can say, they fought hard to be where they are right now. It was long as tiring but here they are. I am not here to ask for pity but to put in logic. They have both been the best Protectors for years. They were unmatched in their skills and bravery that is why...."
" They fell in love and became weak..." A voice in the crowd interrupted her. She smiled and said " interrupt me one more time and your head would be on a pike by tomorrow... Now as I was saying, judge fairly so tomorrow we will not have mediocre people playing their roles."
She went to sit back down. The whole council was in disarray by her speech and considered all they had to say. The judgement was now in the hands of The Lord Protector. He stood up, walked straight to them, sighed then faced the crowd.
" Sky and Rain would be executed with both of you watching. Prapai and Payu stripped of their Protector titles and sent to earth to serve ten years in the world, walking the same paths Rain and Sky walked. You'll be given one day to say your final goodbyes.
All places have rules and you both know ours. Going back on my word is impossible.
Cold shivers ran down all their spines. Prapai felt his world crumble again and again and again in minutes. Pai got on his knees and began to plead " Please don't do this, he's all I have, I beg you." this was a lost cause. He wanted to win so badly but all the odds of life were truly stacked against them. Rain and Sky just nodded while listening. Rain turned to Payu and hugged him desperately. Their fates were already signed and sealed. It was another torment for them knowing the men they were with. it would be devastatingly painful to live without them and worse still walk in the same path they did. Why was love so cruel. Two weeks back they were planning to go round the world and see everything but in the twinkle of an eye all of it had gone down the drain. Sky needed to speak, cheer them up, but even now there was no words coming he was terrified of the future. The lengths Pai would go to bring him back . He felt flushed. The hands he was clasping to would be the last person he would hold in the last day of his life. He looked around and saw them smiling. Some were laughing even. There was a chair in front of him. He let go of Pai's hands and went to the chair, flipping it over. Everywhere became silent again
" laugh... continue laughing... isn't it funny? laugh! because I would really hate that after all this you all don't go home smiling and chuckling. I have never defended myself before. I always took the low punches but not this time. All of you are nincompoops gathering like a council of unwise birds. your punishment is to be killed and they watch..." Sky said this mockingly and continued " Are you sadist or masochistic? if it was such a good judgement why are you the only ones laughing? I thought this place would be fairer than earth but I thought wrong. Priscilla killed my family both of them just to feel good about inserting herself into us. You then thought it wise to send the Only Good Protectors you have to earth to settle these predicaments. None of you found it strange? Or weird. The Lord Protector didn't know about any of it. At all? is that even possible" Everyone turned to look at him.
" It's fishy isn't it.
" SHUT UP!" The Lord Protector said
" Why are you flustered. I'm dying tomorrow so I want to speak my mind... " Sky was not going down easily. This was just the beginning.
