Chapter 54: The Bard and the Psychopath

Pai sighed heavily. He carried  Sky and kept him by himself keeping him on his bed. He placed him gently and told hip  m to be a bit patient that he would be back. Payu did the same for Rain. They both went down stairs. Their outfits changed. This was not the regular outfit they wore as Immortals to meet with Rain and Sky. They were different and shiny. The cloth was completely white but embellished with gold. This outfit was worn when one part of the heavenly Realm was in trouble and it appeared on their bodies. Payu and Prapai were fed up. They walked out of the door. This was a bad omen for anyone who saw them. They trembled and looked away. Payu and Prapai flew to his house, they landed at his gate and called for him. Immediately his servants saw them, they ran to take covering. The neighborhood fell silent. Payu and Prapai had arrived, everyone should show respect. The Lord Protector on hearing what outfit they had on, he stayed inside cowering in fear. Eventually he summoned courage and came outside. He was breathing heavily. Prapai began
" The messenger gave us your message and we decided to see the face who refused to see us and rejected our request."
" Prapai, it's been so long we met. You're looking good today. I..."
" Spare me your pleasantries, why are you delaying to get the plant out?"
" I want you to suffer, for killing my son"
" The Lord Council head did."
" But you connived with her."
" Are you done?" Payu interrupted. " What exactly do you want?"
" I want them to be separated from you."
" NO!" Prapai and Payu answered
" We are fucking tired of your family using us as chess pieces for a separation game. How long will they stay apart? Will they ever get back together. Enough is enough. Either you fix them or I fix you."
" You cannot hurt me, I'm immortal."
" Are you forgetting that Sky and Rain are now legal grounds? I could kill you and the council wouldn't mind, they probably don't even want you around anymore." Payu said distastefully
Prapai's eyes changed and the protector moved back then he began talking " is it fun for you? Is it fun for you when we suffer, when Sky is taken from me severally and I have to try to get him back over and over again. I wouldn't do that anymore. Remember when I was called Bard and Payu psychopath? I think it's time we returned as that and show you."
"You are such a twisted person. Keep pushing us, getting your son to spite us. Hurting us, we never for once got you back for it. But now that we need you, you think it's an avenue to misbehave? Let one hair on Rain's hair get hurt, just one, and I will wipe out your entire generation. You know I can do it. I'll show you how psychotic I can be. " Payu said this. Prapai continued " I'll tear you to shreds that even the people you so desperately want to protect would see you in the underworld and not recognize you."
" Would you go that far?"
" Yes, yes we will.
"  Fine I'll fix them, let's go, I'll remove them. But Payu, I think it's high time you told your best friend the truth." Prapai looked at them confused. He remembered what happened the first day they were given the assignment and knew something was up with Payu. He ignored it for now and  because there was a serious case on ground, he was going to let it pass. The Lord Protector followed them by disappearing with them and was left with the duty of taking out the plant as he was the one who gave the mission. Prapai and Payu could do it,but it was very risky and sentiments might be placed as Rain and Sky might die from it. Prapai and Payu changed back to their normal outfit. They went to check on them first then left him with the duty of taking it out. The plant is to replace the one that got destroyed at Prapai's house. They had really come a very long way. Prapai and Payu stood outside the door thinking about how they first met Sky and Rain. Prapai could agree with himself that he would never fall in love with him. But he was the one willing to go through any thing because of him.
Payu had liked Rain from the moment he used the rope on him. He justified the feeling he had back then as just physical attraction, even when Rain was chasing him around with his love, it just made his grow stronger. Thinking back, he would have just let Rain love him. They barely had any chances to do anything together so it was high time this get fixed. Prapai was determined that after this ordeal passes, he would get everything he ever hoped for with Sky. He would make him the happiest man on the planet. The extraction lasted for two days as many procedures were being taken carefully. In case of any injury, Prapai or Payu took turns to heal them immediately. The man could not do any funny business and they were both present. He eventually brought out the plants in it's full glory. It was translucent and white. It was taking downstairs and placed in the vase in the living room. They both breathed a sigh of relief as it was finally out. The Lord Protector left without a word. Prapai and Payu went up to see the people that brightened up their lives. They were both sleeping soundly. There was no intention of taking them back to earth. They would fully recover here. Payu gently carried Rain and took him to another room in Carityl. He stroked the sleeping man's hair. Prapai knocked and came in.
" I think we need to talk."
" Sure." Payu shut the room door and went outside to the garden with Pai. There was a bench so they both sat down.
" So can you tell me now what's happening with you?"
" It's nothing serious."
" Payu, we've been friends for decades, we separated after Priscilla's death and was reunited again because of it. We because closer again, although we had our awkward moments but it was still better than nothing. So can you tell me now, I deserve to know."
" Pai, I don't want you to freak out okay."
" I wouldn't, you should know me better than that."
" I took the One Thousand Oath."
" YOU DID WHAT? WHY?"
" I told you not to overreact."
" Payu that's like selling your immortal life away, are you mad?"
" No, listen to me, I was tired of living, repeating the same process over and over again. So I thought you was wise to take up that so I can die peacefully." Pai who was standing after shouting went back to sit beside him.
" Okay... Continue."
" Pai, you have no idea how Priscilla's death marred me. I was like a walking corpse. I couldn't continue living like that."
" Why didn't you meet me?"
" We were enemies remember? I couldn't do that."
" So how many missions do you have left, a hundred, two hundred?"
" One."
" What? One. And what's that?
" It's Rain."
" Are you crazy, why? Why did you do this?"
" Because I didn't think I would end up Falling in love with him."
" Have you tried changing your fate?"
" Yes I have. I have pleaded, begged and done everything to keep my self alive, but it's all in vain."
" Payu we would continue this conversation, we will meet with them at the rock. We've come too far and we can't continue facing tragedies, once it's time I'll go with you."
" That's why you're my friend." Prapai was really trying to hold himself back from crying. He summed up courage and met a Sky who was seating up. He had just finished his meal. Sky smiled at Prapai, their eyes met and Sky spoke. " Hi."
Prapai hurried to his side hugged him, held the back of his head. He had restrained himself for so long but now couldn't hold back anymore. He kissed Sky. A hand on his back, and the other to support his head. When they parted. Prapai said " I missed you so much, I couldn't breathe."
