Chapter 42: Steps in What Direction

Rain went back to his apartment and shut the door behind him. He was fuming. How dare Payu talk to him like that. He had been having an internal battle within himself and this just made matters worse. Maybe staying with Payu was not the right thing to do. He thought. They were supposed to sleep at the hotel but he was too furious to be in the same place with Payu. Rain noticed that in recent times, Payu avoided all things using his powers. And tried his hardest living as a human. He was not obligated to do it, but felt the need to because of Rain. Recently it had been really hard for him. All these unspoken words. There was a reason for it. Fear. The fear of losing Rain. The fear of letting Rain go through what he did in the past. Leaving him was never an option but he noticed Rain became really touchy about so many topics. He would absolutely avoid them and swiftly change to something else. Payu didn't know what to do about it anymore. Any trip that called him to Arityl, he would swiftly go and return in hours so he would not miss anything involving Rain.
Rain felt his life had gone to hell with Payu. He loved him, even more than himself, but he couldn't bring himself to fully trust him. He didn't know the reason either but just felt there was distance between them. He avoided quarreling because he was afraid of breaking up. But there was another underlying factor that he never talked about. Rain did not really forgive himself. He did not let himself heal. And it was eating him deep. He was also scared that the ex he put behind bars would use his connections and get back at him. There were so many problems that bothered him and talking to Payu about them made him feel weak and helpless. He was so neck deep to even recognize that Payu was also beginning to be affected.
Rain went back home and had only one person he wanted to call.  Sky.
Hello Puen( friend) what's the matter?
Can you come to see me at home? I really don't feel too good.
I'm with Prapai should he drive
No! Please come alone.
Fine, I'll be there soon.
Sky who was extremely tired struggled out of bed. He took Pai's car and assured and reassured him that he would be fine before leaving the hotel room. Pai had no choice but to let Sky go.
" When you get there, please call me."
" I will." He gave him a peck and Sky left. Just then Pai got a call, it was Payu. They were both in the same hotel so they agreed to meet up in the lounge. It was really going to be a complicated night for both parties. Sky went to meet Rain, on arriving, he opened the door because he knew his password. He saw a man arranging his house in the middle of the night. It was quite the sight as Rain didn't even notice when Sky entered as he was engrossed in what he was doing. Sky went to his couch and sat down watching the busy man work. He had been there for some time before he finally snapped and said
Rain, did you call me here to watch you work?" Startling Rain. This was when he noticed someone was watching him. Seeing Sky he asked " when did you come in?”
" Some minutes ago. You were busy cleaning so I didn't want to bother you." Rain joined Sky on the couch.
" What's up man?"
" Rain, you do know I was sleeping right?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't intend to wake you, I just really needed someone to talk to."
" I thought you were with P'Payu?" After Sky said this, the room fell silent. He had hit a nail on the head and not a good one as he saw Rain's countenance change immensely. Sky knew his friend to an extend and he knew well enough for Rain that given time, he will blurt out what is bothering him. Sky turned on the television and was planning to watch a movie. When Rain noticed this, he asked " Won't you ask me what is wrong?"
" Rain what is wrong."
" Nothing!"
" Rain, I was busy enjoying a warm cuddle with Prapai, you came out of nowhere and called me. I should have smacked you when I saw you. I'm leaving." Sky knew this threat always worked as the very next minute, his voice turned sad as he said " I want to break up with P'Payu."  Before Rain could continue,Sky laughed heartily. It was when he noticed Rain wasn't laughing he stopped.
" Are you serious?"
"Yes I am Sky, very."
"What made you to come to this conclusion?"
" Sky, aren't you scared, because I am."
" What do you mean?"
" Sky, if I tell you, promise not to freak out."
" What's the matter? You're beginning to scare me."
" Sky, there's something inside of us that has to mature and be harvested causing us to lose our lives."
"What's that?"
" It's called an Immo Plant. When I went out of town when we were at Arityl. I overheard some people talk about it. It made me wonder, why would people like Prapai and Payu even like people like us, go to the depths for us,it's clear Sky. They are doing it for the things that are inside us, and when it's fully grown,Payu and Prapai would kill us both for it."

" Rain,what nonsense are you spewing now?"
" Ask Prapai, he'll tell you. Sky no matter what we do, these men will still pick Priscilla and I believe the plant inside us, would bring her back."
"No... I'm I'm.. sure there's...a... There's an explanation for this Rain became this can't be through."
" Sky open your eyes and look at us. We are average looking. Why would men as fine as them choose us. Think about it Sky." Sky folded into a ball. Both hands on his legs. This was shocking news for him. He switched off his phone.
" Rain what do we do now?" Sky had tears in his eyes as he continued "we both love them too much to just let go." Rain placed both hands over his head. He felt so helpless.

Prapai and Payu went in for a shot but it turned into a drink off. Eventually they both stopped. Both men could feel something was wrong they couldn't quite put their finger on it.
