Chapter 61: The Same Energy

Rain stared at him for a while and with his right hand brushed off Payu's hand. He laid back down and closed his eyes, he didn't even give him a second glance, nothing. Payu felt the icy response, he wanted to do something but didn't know what. He stood up and left the couch. Rain opened his eyes and mumbled " never again." and closed his eyes back. Payu didn't hear this and went to the guestroom. Pai's house was quite large. It had four rooms in total, two downstairs and two upstairs. For the rooms upstairs there was a corridor that led to the rooms, both were in opposite directions but not very far from each other. The lower rooms had a passage but were on opposite ends. The sitting room led to the kitchen. Payu went to the room on the left part of the house. As per Pai's taste, the house was well furnished and placed.
The next morning, the four men came out and found food on the dining, Rain had cooked. A variety of dishes were plated and they looked appetizing. Rain smiled and presented the dishes to them. " Enjoy" he said smiling. They all sat down. Payu came out much later. They all greeted each other but Rain didn't even bother looking at him and continued eating. Payu considered going to sit beside him but Rain gave him a stern look that made him retreat. The mood was quite sombre as they all ate quietly. When it was over, Rain excused himself and went to take a bath. Sky followed so he could show him where everything was. Pai and Payu cleaned up the table.
" Did you talk to Rain?" Pai asked as they washed the dishes
" Yes I did."
" And I'm guessing it didn't really end well?"
"You think, he's colder now than he was when I told him those hurtful words in the past."
" It's obvious this one hurt him more."
" Pai, I can't keep doing this to him, everytime, I'm a shitty person."
" Talk to him then and hear what he has to say."
" For a wise person like me who have lived for centuries, I am pretty foolish in love."
" Aren't we all." They finished washing the plates and went to the couch to wait for the both of them to return. Rain had changed his clothes and was getting ready to return till Sky spoke up " have you made up your mind?"
" About....?"
" What we discussed yesterday?"
" Yes I have."
" Annndddd?
" I'm sticking to my decision, we have to defeat Priscilla so Payu can be happy and they return to Arityl."
"Rain, are you just giving up?"
" You heard his response didn't you? I'm never winning against her so I'll lick my wounds and move on. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he gets her back."
" Rain, aren't you at least going to put up a fight?"
" For what? For a man who wouldn't even want to be fight for me. Sky you heard him yesterday. I can't keep this up any longer. I've reached my boiling point, it's okay not to fight anymore. Don't see it as I gave up, see it as I let him be with the person his heart longs for."
" So you're done?"
" Yes, I am over it all." Sky didn't know what to say anymore. He was heartbroken for his friend.
They both came down stairs to meet the two men on the couch. Sky sat beside Pai, Rain went to the couch that was furthest away from Payu and sat there. Payu was beginning to get flustered by all this and Sky had to speak up to easy the tension.
" So what are we going to do about this situation?"
" Well, now that we know that she's out to get us, we need to have a plan before she does."
" So now you believe us, so what changed your mind? Huh?" Rain asked this across the room to hear what they had to say.
" We talked to Priti and he told..."
"You talked to who?"
" Priti." Payu said looking at Rain. Rain faced him this time clearly pissed " so you chose to believe the guy who nearly killed you, than us who tried to save you, wow pretty original... Hahahaha." Rain laughed sarcastically and continued " so if I tell you I'm dying, I'm pretty sure you'll meet Priti to confirm if I'm telling the truth won't you? P'Payu?"  The place of pain Rain was in began spewing out little by little. Payu spoke " Rain, it's nothing like that I just need all the facts so I..."
" So because you needed the facts, you spoke to me like I was some obsessed lover who just wanted you for myself, really rich P'Payu, really rich coming from you."
" Rain, you know it was unintentional and I was really in the feels and it was a lot to take in all at once."
" Because it's coming from your new lover or because I'm not even your lover in the first place because you have to chose her over me, every fucking time."
" RAIN?"
" P'PAYU, AM I LYING, PROVE ME WRONG. you can't. Because even if I talk or say anything, you would still pick her."
" Rain can you please calm down. Payu was just talking from a place of hurt and didn't mean anything he said. You know he loves you right?" Pai said from across the room
" P'Pai can you not defend him now. Can the both of you just not be assholes right now. I know I can never compare to Priscilla, I don't even have to know her to know this but for my boyfriend, my boyfriend to keep rubbing it in my face that I can never meet up or compare that's really unfair, isn't it. How would you feel if Sky did that to you? Would you like it?"
" Rain, it's nothing like that, I assure you."
" P'Payu, I want to believe your assurances but you make it harder everytime."
" I'll prove it to you. Is that what you want."
" P'Payu, I and Priscilla are going to die and you can only save one person who would you save?"
" I... I..."
" ...Too late, I just died because even to my face you just  contemplated it."
" Rain." Payu called his name. Sky and Pai felt appalled by the fact that he didn't mention Rain's name immediately.
" Prapai, back me up here."
Prapai stood up holding Sky  and said " we will take our leave, we will convey later when you guys have settle."
" P'Payu," Sky called his name as he shook his head and let following Pai. When they got upstairs Sky told Pai " I'm sorry but P'Payu really doesn't deserve Rain."
" For once, I'd agree, he really needs to stand up."
Rain didn't leave the couch as Payu walked up to him and sat beside him. Rain adjusted and Payu followed. Till they got to the end of the chair. Rain looked at him dead in the eyes and said
" You really don't deserve me at all
