Chapter 81: Our Heart, Your Own

" Shut up you! I know you lost your two sons but you're just being cruel now."
" P... Prapai are you telling me to keep... quiet."
" Yes I am. Your sons both committed heinous crimes so judging from that angle, you're also supposed to be in this with them. Sending your son Priti to face us was already a suicide mission on its own."
" Prapai!"
" That's my name!"
" Are these the men you call protectors, if that's the case the world is no longer safe." Lord Protector said but Payu countered
" And if this is who you call your Lord Protector then it's better we all just surrender to death."
" Why am I the one put on the spot now?"  He asked.
" You sent us on this stupid mission, either to kill us or just to make our life worse. We went unknown to us that you knew about Priscilla, Moss obsession for Prapai. You knew all of these and kept quiet. You knew about Priscilla having to kill their family just to reside in them. You knew you psycho and you said nothing. YOU SAID NOTHING. So now you have absolutely no right to tell us we are in the wrong because you were the progenitor of our problems, don't come and act the saint because you are clearly not. You're a bastard seeking recompense for your incompetent." Pai said angrily
" Ahhheemmm..." He pretended to clear his throat, Prapai had blasted him where it hurt and he knew his defence had to be strong to counter him.
" My sons died and see what this menace of society is saying... Kill them all."
" So what happens after?" You..."
" Prapai that's enough! We came to listen to both sides and know what can be done moving forward." One council member spoke up. The council was an open air space. With chairs all around and a space for people to walk and pass. This was because when a council is summoned, they all appear there, as they do not walk so it's quite easy for judgements to be made quickly.
Prapai, Rain , Sky and Payu were in the middle with the Lord Protector at the side giving his best defense and failing at that.
" Can I speak?" The Lord Council Head Lady stood up. Everyone got up to listen to her.
" I cannot defend Prapai and Payu, I cannot defend the fact that they let a human kill an Immortal knowing the gravity of that action. I cannot defend the fact that they let their emotions get the better of them, and lost touch with reality...I ..."
" Yes, they fell in love and lost their moral compass and conscience." The Lord Protector interrupted.
" Shut up, I'm not done talking. Prapai and Payu might have been bias but it never stopped them from doing their jobs as Immortals ."
" Are you defending them?"
" No, but I can boldly say they have done more in their short existence than you've ever done in your entire life."
He became silent.
" If we are to punish them, we have to take away sentiments and outright hatred and do the right thing. If we say they should decide who dies, they will all chose themselves. Being lovers make things difficult and complicated. I suggest we analyse the situation properly and decide what happens wisely."
She sat down and a council member stood up to speak. " Wiping their memories does not help as they seem to always find a way back to each other so that would not be a good option. Killing them would absolutely devastate Prapai and Payu. So I think we should..."
" If it involves killing them, we won't take it. Sky and Rain had already suffered so much in life that they don't have to go through any more misery. They deserve nothing but happiness."
" Protector Payu, you do know that this happiness you speak of can never be gotten from you. No matter how hard you try , you are the bad memory they have to live with. The fact you even gave them your hearts as pendants that says a lot. This humans charmed our Protectors with sex and it took over their thinking faculties and they stopped functioning properly. Their hand game must be superior...and their bodies soft...and their lips delicious...."
" Lom! What is wrong with you go straight to your point."
" Ah ... Sorry I digressed, I was just thinking what could make Payu and Prapai willing to do all these things... I think it's sex and since non of us have experienced it, we never can tell the deep power it holds."
" Lom, go straight to your point."
Someone give this man a person to be with he's always so depressed. One of the council whispered to his friend listening to Lom speak.
" My judgement is this seeing that you both have intertwined yourselves together, I'll give you both a punishment worse than death. Love is something so beautiful. So here in lies the trick. You shall both return back to earth memories in tact and all but  you will be incapable of seeing Prapai and Payu. They might appear in front of you but they would be invisible to you. For the rest of your lives you would be with a heart that is not yours but you can't be with them."
" NO! Please."
" I'm not done talking Prapai. The heavens are hereby shut to you and Payu, there is no coming and going, you shall NEVER be allowed entry to earth. So this would be the very LAST time you see Rain and Sky. When they cry, you feel it but can't do anything about it, when they are going through hardships you'll know, incapable of sleeping you'll know but you can't do anything. The heart you gave to them remember that after three days, it fuses in so it's half and half. Yours and theirs. So nothing will phase you anymore. That is my judgement."
" Good one Lom. My judgement as Lord Protector is this. For three years, they will have their hearts pricked every night. Incapable of sleeping till morning. They should feel the pain of loss. And on Rain and Sky's death bed, the heavens will be unopen and they would be allowed to see them only then.
" My judgement. Sky and Rain had lived long on this earth, so let us put them out of their misery. Kill them both."
" No, let Payu and Prapai be killed instead."

Payu and Prapai watched in horror as they listened to their supposed punishments, each worse than before, just to make them suffer. These were the people they protected, the people they stood for, the people they loved. Deciding their fates like they were never relevant. No sign of mercy in their eyes. When they heard the final judgement that everyone agreed with. It was clear. These people never cared about their Protectors.
" Kill Rain and Sky and let them watch."
" Yes, agreed. Good one... Nice one... The council spoke agreeing to it all.
" YOU WOULD TOUCH MY MAN OVER YOUR DEAD BODIES. I WILL WIPE YOU ALL OUT." Payu said,his eyes widened. He was going to die, but with style
