Chapter 43: Our Lovers

Sky felt his head spin. Everything he was hearing felt so foreign to him.
" Rain... P'Pai was willing to die for me, sacrifice everything to be with me.... Rain, he went to another realm and was willing to die, for me, Rain, for me. I think he loves me more than that Immo Plant."
" Sky, we are a means to an end for them.'
" I saw him Rain, I saw Prapai, groaning in pain,just so I can be safe. If that was all acting then P'Pai is the best actor alive. If I have to go through all that just to get something, I think I would have given up. Rain, don't also trivialize P'Payu's sacrifice for he either, that would be unfair. I think there's a logical explanation Rain, I'm sure there is."
"Sky, I know it's hard to believe, and I'm sorry, but it is true, Did P'Pai also tell you about Moss?"
" Yes he did."
" Everything?"
" Yes, everything "
" Even the fact that Moss was in love with him?"
"...he...."
" Sky? Do you still believe him?
At this point, Sky was speechless. He fell to the ground looking utterly distraught and lost
" I'll ask P'Pai, I'll ask him. There has to be a reason for this. Rain... This can't be true. P'Pai loves me too much to hurt me."
" Sky, I used to believe P'Payu too, till I saw his reaction the day he told me he loves me. Sky he hesitated. Payu loves me because of Priscilla.

" Prapai, my Puen, I really need someone to talk to."
" What's up?"
" It's... It's... Never mind you'll think I'm being silly"
" Just talk to me, or did you call me all the way here to drink the night away?
" Fine, but please don't laugh."
" I would except it's funny."
" Fine, it's about Rain."
" What happened to him? Is he sick? Does he need healing?"
" No, nothing like that, he's getting distant, we were perfectly fine after I asked him out, when we returned from Arityl, he had not been okay anymore, like he heard something. I can't place my finger on it. Did Sky tell you anything?
" No he didn't, Payu I'm sure it's just your imagination. Everything is fine." Both men kept drinking and didn't even notice the server who kept pouring wine to their glasses.
" I'm trying to be more human for Rain. I know I'm being childish, but I really want to be with him,Pai. He's the definition of wholesome. He makes me want to be better, want to believe and want to fight. Pai,if I was totally human I would have not mind marrying him, but I can't."
" Why not?"
" Are you forgetting, we stay the same,but they don't. I really want to...."
" Do it?
"Huhh?"
" I said do it Payu, if you love him that much then claim ownership. It's clear he owns your heart already so what more does he need to own for him to be yours?"
" I want him to trust me enough. He hasn't really gotten a grasp of this Immortal thing so I'm letting him take his time. And Sky?"
"Sky is... Sky is my Sky. He shines brightening up my day. I really love him. I guess we both do. Payu?"
"Yes?"
"Did you think you'd fall in love with Rain?"
"Definitely not, he was too much."
" Me neither, I think we were overwhelmed by it all. The plant thing was what brought us together. Payu, I found the one I love for real." They both laughed for sometime but soon the atmosphere became worse. Something was clearly off
" Payu do you feel that?"
" I know it's a strange feeling. I can't feel Sky?"
" I can't feel Rain either. Can you sense the Immo Plant?"
" No I can't? We need to find them." But for some reason they couldn't get up. Normal alcohol couldn't make them as intoxicated as they were and they knew this.  They both tried desperately to get up but they couldn't. The waiter passed by their table and Payu waved his hands at him and he came closer.
" What did you put in our drinks?"
" Nothing sir." He responded and continued "I was just instructed."
" By who?" Prapai asked,his eyes were spinning.
" That gentleman over there. He said I should tell you that when they come,break it off or hell kill your lovers. He also told me to tell you to say goodbye to your lovers. Payu, how do you like the fact that Rain doesn't trust you? Prapai, you'll soon love the idea that Sky sees you as a monster."
" Stay away....from them, I beg you, they've already been through......"
They both tried to get a good view of the person and talk but couldn't as they passed out shortly after. It was only a sleeping plant from Arityl that could do this to them it's effect was so potent that it was equivalent to a sleep of death. To an Immortal, they could find themselves sleeping for two to three days. This was not good at all.

" Rain I need you to snap out of this, I feel we need to return to the hotel and confront them, I wouldn't be able to rest if I don't. And in sure there's a part of you that wants to know too. Rain can we not give up on them yet, huh...? Ai Rain, we can't give up yet, I beg you. I'll go crazy with the idea that P'Pai would do this to me and I'll lose it if I don't get to find out why, so Rain please let's meet with them, if it's true then we can break up. Huh Rain?"
Rain nodded because in his heart he didn't want to believe it either. The push from Sky helped as they both left the house to head back to the hotel. On getting to the lobby they met Phiti.
Phiti frowned at both of them and hurried to their sides.
" I'm sorry but do you know Payu and Prapai, I was directed to this building. I'm looking for Rain and Sky."
" That's us. What's the matter?"
" They got poisoned at the hotel and we're taken to a hospital out of town."
" How did this happen? I WAS WITH HIM A SECOND AGO."  Sky raised his voice. Rain was too confused to speak. They didn't ask any further questions and got into the car, completely forgetting that they were Immortals, for people who were considering breaking up they were really concerned.
Phiti drove the car.
Prapai and Payu needed to find a way out of this but there was no answer they were stuck in a lifeless body that could hear everything but couldn't breathe. There was a reason the plant was called In-between. It was called that because it puts a person in-between life and death. The hotel staff carried them thinking they were drunk. And returned both men to Prapai's room.
