"Are you sure Buzz?"

"Yes." I hesitated, but Rock still opened his mouth to speak.

"Frostee's job in Black Velvet is to commit grand theft auto." Sounds about right. "When I was talking to Jefe about his punishment for leaving he was not going to lessen his sentence in the slightest, but after reviewing the options and advantages to giving him a lesser sentence he agreed." Advantages? "Frostee has to steal two more cars that are at least worth ten thousand each and he has to take two beatings that are halfway to the point of death." I took in a deep breath as slowly as possible. They were ragged and not steady even in the slightest way. It was silent before I asked my guilt-filled question.

"So Saturday night was that-"

"His first beating, yeah." Rock finished my question with the answer.

We were both silent however, I didn't want to enter my house yet and Rock didn't leave either. He watched me probably thinking I was going to crumble at any moment now.

"I just have one more question." Rock nodded. "Can he do it?"

"What do you mean?" I stepped closer to him needing an honest and direct answer.

"Can Frostee take the punishment? Can he steal those cars without getting caught and can he take the beatings? Will he be able to leave safely?" I pierced him with my icy-hot blue eyes. Rock breathed deeply through his nose and took a step away from me.

"Don't worry Scarlett he can do it." Rock wore the smallest smile that was able. "And to answer your last question, yes. He will be able to leave safely, unharmed no, but he will be safe from then on out." Rock assured me then stepped away again. He looked me over then disappeared into the darkness of the night.

Frostee, I hope Rock's confidence in you remains the truth.

Walking inside my home for the first time today I noticed the house was silent and dark, flicking on the stair lights I shouted out for my mom.

"Mom?! Are you home?!" I had no idea when she would arrive. We finished cleaning out one side of the garage by unpacking more boxes so she would be able to fit her car then my side was next. I made my way across the kitchen and flung the garage door open. Empty. She did say there was overtime. It must have really been overtime since I know Brandon is home and she is still gone. I went into my bedroom and glanced out my window to see a garage door opening at Rock's house. It was him. Where is he going? Has he been wanting to leave the entire time I'd been over? Was I a burden? I sighed then closed my curtains roughly feeling stupid for caring. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

***Flashback***

The black gown was gorgeous and I knew that price tag had many and many zeros in it.

"If they are making me go, I am wearing black." Kayla huffed and put her hands on her hips right before the dress expanded into the gown it was.

"I thought your color was pink?" I questioned as I played with the pink ruffles on her bedspread.

"Of course it is." She smirked throwing her blonde hair behind her shoulder exposing her neck and collarbone in the strapless dress. "But I have worn pink numerous times and wearing black will piss off my mom and dad. I am pissed at them for making me attend another stupid gala event so they have to be in a bad mood too." Kayla shrugged her shoulders rolling her eyes and started to unzip her dress. She stepped out of it and just lounged in her silk slip nightdress. She laid on the bed next to me.

"Sorry K, it sucks." I grimaced.

"It's okay. At least you're coming." She pulled me in close by the arm.

"It's no problem."

"But really Scar, I really appreciate you. I mean you've been with me through all this and when Derek broke up with me, I mean...you really care about me." My body was covered in goosebumps, but I tried to contain it. I smiled with soft eyes, guilt biting at me. "Even though I can be a real bitch you still care about me." She giggled lightly.

"I do Kayla." I leaned my head on her shoulder.

"You are my best friend Scarlett."

***End of Flashback***

Thursday seemed too far away, having learning about Frostee's cruel punishment made me miss him. I never thought I could miss Frostee, but I did and I liked it. I wanted to ask him so many questions, like how he was going to steal cars that are worth ten thousand dollars, how long he has been in Black Velvet, and been committing GTA. I didn't condone it, but I definitely wouldn't encourage it. I didn't hear my mother arrive home until she woke me up in my sleep. I would've gotten up to greet her and ask how her first day was, but I was too exhausted. I slept like a rock and felt very well recharged when I woke heading straight for my closet. After getting dressed, hair, and makeup, I headed straight to the coffee maker. I poured myself a fresh cup as I greeted my mom.

"How was your first day?" She sat in front of the island that had small stools. "Oh my god, are you okay?"

"Oh, I'm just fine Scarlett." She smiled weakly and waved her hand at me like I was a fly.

"You are totally not okay. You look completely exhausted. Did you even sleep?" Her eyes were dark and puffy. Her mascara was done messily and her hair was in its natural small ringlets up in a ponytail. She was still dressed in her work attire. She leaned over her coffee cup as if she couldn't even sit up straight.

"The overtime I mentioned to you...well...the last office manager left a lot for me so I am having to play catch up while keeping up with the regular day work." She explained then took a long drink and I took the liberty to refill it for her. "I'll be okay once I catch up. This week will be tough, but I guarantee that I will be finished by the end of the week and not look like this." She put her hands up gesturing to herself then drank some more. I looked at her with worry.

"Okay, mom. But remember to take care of yourself." I put a hand on top of hers. My mom stared at me for a long time until I noticed the waterworks. "Hey! Stop that!" I warned her.

"Yes, yes. I'm sorry." She touched the corners of her blue eyes.

"Alright, I got to go." I smiled.

"Wait where is your car?"

"My car?"

Shit.
