I was guided to Rivera's office by the judgemental receptionist. The same one Rivera told to shut up last time I was here.

"Come in." Principal Rivera's deep voice called out after she knocked. She cracked the door.

"Miss. Buzzby is here." She blocked my view.

"Thank you, Sophie." He mumbled. She moved aside and I entered.

Principal Rivera sat behind his desk and wore the same suit and tie he did when he called Rock and me in here last time.

I need to play this carefully. I don't have Rock this time. Rock has dealt with Rivera more than once he knows how these things go, but I...I don't.

I sat in the same chair as last time. He glanced between his computer and papers clicking his mouse several times. I wanted to let out an annoyed sigh but held it in not wanting any more stupid ass tutoring again. One thing I've figured out about Principal Rivera is that he isn't stupid and doesn't fuck around. He is straightforward and serious. Every choice of word is picked out very specifically. He's frank and unembellished.

"I'd like to compliment you on the tutoring. Even though it was a punishment," he set down the paper, interlaced his fingers, and set them on the desk, "you did well."

"Did you just call me in here to compliment me?" I asked. If that was the case he should have called Rock in too. Two birds one stone. He called me here for another reason.

"All of your student's grades improved." He ignored my question. "Even through all that extra work, you got a hundred on Mr. Clark's test." He made hard eye contact.

Is he suspecting me of cheating? Because I didn't. However, I did consider it.

"And?" He needs to get to the point. He glared at me and I felt like I had been put in my place with just one look.

"I'm complimenting you, Miss. Buzzby. Can you not take a compliment?" He held his glare.

"I know you are just buttering me up before asking for a favor." I told him honestly.

"Insightful." He raised his eyebrows momentarily. "On the contrary though. I am doing you a favor." He paused. "I think you should be moved up into the 103 chemistry class." I grinned breaking eye contact. I held in my scoff.

"Yeah. No thanks." I stood. This is a waste of my time.

"Sit back down Scarlett." I challenged him with my eyes but he didn't break. I sighed annoyed and sat back down rolling my eyes.

"You have talent and are overflowing with intelligence. You are wasting it." He told me not sugarcoating it. "I am considering to do the same for Mr. Chase." I perked up subconsciously. "You two had the top scores in the class even with an extra workload."

"Well thank you for the offer Principal Rivera, but I rather not." I told him respectfully hoping he would drop it if I were polite.

"You are making a big mistake Miss. Buzzby." He told me.

"It's my decision." I titled my head in a way that said, you have no power here.

"True, but I can be very persuasive." I scrunched my eyebrows confused about what he was talking about. "I knew you would refuse no matter what I said. Being proactive is one of my strong suits." He turned his computer around so I could see the screen. "I emailed Blair, your mother, just before you came in." An email sent to my mother was displayed on the screen. "I thought I could chat properly with her about your curriculum." He swung it back around, "I'm sure she won't refuse my offer and wouldn't allow you to turn down such an opportunity." He leaned back in his chair.
