I can't believe I'm at this asshole's house. I meant it when I told Frostee Rock is an asshole. How dare he act that way in front of my boyfriend. In front of his cousin's girlfriend. I mean how insolent and audacious can he be? I let out an uncontrollable loud groan before I heard Monsieur Bonfils approach the door.
"Bonjour Mademoiselle." He greeted me as usual and stepped aside. "You should dress warmer Mademoiselle." He said with a worried expression as I entered the grand home. His comment reminded me of Mabel, but I exited all thoughts of her out of my mind.
"I'll be fine, I smiled lightly at him, "Merci." Yves nodded respectfully.
"Mr. Chase is in his room per usual." Yves put a gesturing hand to the stairs.
"Merci." I mumbled and marched up the stairs.
This asshole. I pushed his door open not bothering to knock.
Holy fuck.
This gloriously handsome, piece of forbidden fruit, sculptured by God's very own heavenly hands...uh...asshole.
"Scarlett!" Rock screamed. "Kn-knock!" I was frozen. "Out!" I was somehow able to move myself from his room and into the hallway.
"Oh my god." I choked.
My face burned red and I was sweating with embarrassment. I cannot go in there. Not anymore. Hell, I can't face Rock anymore. Not after seeing Rock Chase...naked.
"I will give him specifics tomorrow." I jumped at his voice. I turned to the opening of the stairs at the end of the hall and saw Mr. Brandon Chase, silver cufflinks and all.
"Scarlett?" He asked. "Okay." He spoke into the phone and then it disappeared into his slacks. "Are you okay?" He walked closer with a briefcase in one hand. "Are you sick?" He was now in my personal space.
"I-I'm f-fine." I stuttered at his close proximity still trying to regain composure from what I had just seen.
"Are you sure you look hot..." He lifted his free hand to my face and before it could come in contact with my face a door whipped open. I didn't turn, but Mr. Chase did his hand still inches from me. They stared for what felt like a full minute.
"You're home early." Rock stated his voice deep and raspy.
"It doesn't really concern you when I get home, does it son."
Silence.
"Come on." Rock folded his hand in mine and pulled me into his room.
I was against the door and Rock leaned on it after closing it. That meant I was trapped against the door as he hovered above me. He breathed deeply while I was stuck in this position.
"Rock." I whispered. He opened his closed eyes. His forearms rested on the door making us the closest to each other's faces we have ever been.
"Scarlett." He whispered back. My cheeks heated his breath smelling of peppermint. I gazed into his dark eyes as they changed color right in front of me for the first time. I was able to watch it take place in full action.
"Why do they do that?" I whispered and raised my hand. I touched not his cheek but right below his under-eye with the tips of my fingers. Rock did not speak he stared at me not with wide eyes but opened eyes. His blinking lessened, but when he did it was steady and a stern blink as if he had to manually control his blinking.
"Do what princess?"
"Dark when they are looking at your dad or Frostee or anyone else...at all...but they look...pretty when they are on me." We were still whispering and I had no idea why.
"Because you're pretty."
I searched his eyes for a moment and I let my own rake over the rest of his facial features, but before I could finish my admiration of this piece of art Rock jumped away suddenly and my cheeks reddened again.
Shit.
I looked up and saw him rub his thumb across his bottom lip then scratch the back of his neck.
I sat at the end of the bed and Rock grabbed his books sitting on the other end. Space. Any amount should help. Personally, I think even if I were across the street locked up in my own room I still wouldn't be able to forget this feeling or the things I saw. I still wouldn't be able to shake his warmth and his smell off my body either.
"We stopped on number five right?" Rock asked as he opened his book.
I hummed a 'yes' in response. I peeked at him as he kept his eyes locked on his book then balanced his pencil on his hand and made it spin. I've noticed he does that habit a lot in Clark's class especially when he will be studying a question. He must be so good at it that he doesn't even need to focus on it anymore to keep it from falling. I watched his pencil spin not caring if he noticed my stare. I wasn't staring at him. I was staring at the mesmerizing talent.
"What happened in the hall?" He asked bluntly catching his pencil. I looked up from his hand and he stared at me seriously.
"Nothing." I repositioned my legs and opened my book.
"What happened?" He asked again and I looked at him once more.
"Nothing, I-I just...he noticed I was standing alone and, honestly, I probably looked...weird after what...I witnessed." My cheeks flushed once again.
What the fuck is with the blushing today? I'm going to have to seriously ice my face tonight.
"Did...did he touch you?" Rock wasn't looking at me anymore. It was odd. Usually, Rock always maintains eye contact when he asks me something significant. The seriousness remained in his voice, but he still wouldn't look at me.
"No. Not yet." I said clearly.
He saved me before he was able to make contact. To be completely honest I didn't feel uncomfortable. I don't think he was going to touch me inappropriately. I think he was just going to touch my forehead to see if I had a fever. I was only acting strange and I still felt strange because of the events that had transpired moments before. Maybe Rock picked up on a vibe that I was too distracted to notice at the time.
"Let's just do the packet." I didn't want to talk to him any more than I needed to. Rock's head tilted just the slightest as he made eye contact once again. I broke it hopefully expressing my annoyance towards him.
"Yeah...okay." He responded quietly.
***
"Bye." I had my hand on his bedroom door handle. It was past 6:30 and Mrs. Wenna Chase came in around 6:00 asking us to join the family for dinner. I strongly, but respectfully disagreed and Rock said he'd eat later.
"I'll walk you out." He put his work back on his desk.
"No."
"No?"
"Yes, no." I turned back at him. I gave him a look that said 'I don't want to spend another second with you'.
"What's your problem?" He scoffed and turned away from me. I laughed out loud.
"What's my problem?" Is he seriously asking me that like he doesn't know? "You are! You're my problem."
