The food was beyond delicious I couldn't get over it. I thought four tacos was going to be too much, but it almost wasn't enough. I had my horchata refilled once they brought out the food. I finished it by then, it's so refreshing. I hadn't had authentic Mexican food like this in a long while. As we ate I was more and more curious about the upstairs, the club area.
"We can go up if you want?" Rock slid a card inside of a bill book.
"Can we?" I asked. I must of made it obvious that I was curious about it for him to notice.
"Yeah. Come on." He stood and gestured for me to do the same.
There was a rope blocking the stairs, but Rock passed it with ease. I followed him up the twirling stair case.
"Are we allowed to come up here?" I asked looking behind me.
"Of course." He stated. "I won't let you get into any trouble princess." He spoke quietly. Rock stepped to the side as he made it to the top and I raised my head stepping onto the second floor.
"Whoa." I took it all in.
We were on a raised portion of the room, to my right was a lounge area same to my left. Straight ahead a small stair case made it's way down to the dance floor. The floor was polished black with white accents from the leather lounge wear and abstract decor. Up ahead were lights above a DJ sound board. It was raised up with stairs on each side. The dance floor was a circle with stairs outlining it. Rock made his way down the steps and I followed still entrapped by the amazing room. Once we made it to the center of the dance floor I saw two bars on each side of the room. The back wall of it glowed showing off the different alcohol on display. Small stools were place in front of the bar, a table separating them from the bartender that would probably get hit on all night. On my left between the bar and the DJ section was a small transparent door. It had to be the patio that I saw from outside.
"Is that the patio?" I asked pointing. Rock nodded then led the way.
He opened the door and let me out first. It was a wood patio with lots of plants and twinkling lights all across the top. There were tall heaters on each four corners and some tables and chairs next to them. Potted plants were scattered giving the patio even more of an outdoor feel.
"It's beautiful." I breathed. I went to the edge of the patio that looked out towards the street. I leaned on the railing holding onto the top of it. The cold metal relaxed my stiff hands and I breathed in the cold air straight through my nose. I felt Rock stand next to me.
"Are you still annoyed?" He teased. I rolled my eyes towards him.
"No." I then averted my eyes from his gorgeous hazel ones. "Do you come here often?" I asked nonchalantly. He seemed familiar with the restaurant and club.
"I guess so." He said vaguely and he stared out past the street. I watched him for a moment longer than looked back. We sat in silence for awhile just enjoying the white noise of the street and the privacy the patio provided.
"I'd like to see this place in action at night." I mentioned turning back around to look out at the patio.
"You want to come tonight?" I furrowed my eyebrows and looked up at Rock. He was seriously inviting me out.
"Um...no. Actually I already have plans...with your sister believe it or not." I stated and we started to wandering back inside to leave.
"I believe it." Rock answered my rhetorical question.
"Really?" I questioned him. Flora and I didn't seem compatible. I feel like the thought of us hanging out is a bit..unsettling?
"Yes Buzz." He smirked like it was weird that I thought it was odd for me to hang out with Flora. "Flora really likes you." Rock mentioned as I followed him down the stairs.
"She does?" I asked surprised.
"Yes. When she found out we were partners she asked me about you." Rock chuckled lightly.
"What did she ask?" I was so curious on why she was interested in me.
"If you were nice. Nothing that important. She just wanted to know what you were like." Rock explained as we got back to the first floor. I stopped my continuation of questions and let my imagination fill in the rest. Although, I can't conjure up what Rock must have said to make Flora like me so much. As we made our way toward the exit the busty hostess from once before handed Rock his card as he walked out.
"Adios, hasta la próxima ." She waved and Rock gave a small forced smile. He had to come often. He left his card on the table with the bill and the hostess just hands it to him on the way out. That seems a little too...respectful.
Once we got back in his car it seemed like we ran out of things to talk about and I pulled my phone out to keep the awkward silence from swallowing me whole.
"Are you texting Frostee?" I snapped my head up at Rock and he wore a blank expression staring out at the road as he drove. I didn't answer at first because he doesn't need to know it's none of his business, but he keeps on getting in the middle of it. Why?
"Why do you want to know?" I asked probably putting him on the spot.
"He is my cousin." Rock's answer was lame and I think he knew that.
"Why are you so curious about our relationship?" I asked him once more.
"I'm not." Rock licked his lips then pressed them into a thin line. "Just forget I asked." He glanced out his window and forward again. It went dead silent and I felt bad. I made it even more awkward than it already was. He was probably just trying to make conversation.
"I wasn't texting Frostee." I answered with guilt. "I am not sure if I will text him ever again." I said truthfully.
"Why?" Rock said quietly.
"I don't know...I'm not looking for a boyfriend, and Frostee...I don't know he just..." I trailed off.
"What?" Rock glanced towards me for the first time since we got in the car.
"I-I don't know." I shook my head lightly and put my hands in my lap. I felt Rock's eyes on me then I finally looked towards him his eyes were the lightest shade of hazel I had ever seen.
"You don't know him that well. Maybe you should text him." Rock paused, "just once more."
