What did he want to say?
What did he want to say to me, but decided that it was better left unsaid? Did he not want me to go to Frostee's? Is the real reason he kept on asking if I had talked to Frostee because he wanted to know if I was available? However, when I talked to him about Frostee he almost seemed eager to know everything and not upset that I had finally talked to Frostee. I could just be conjuring all of this up and in reality, it means nothing.
The drive to Frostee's was a bit long. It was about thirty minutes out from my house and I imagined that's why he didn't go to the same school as the rest of us. When I came down his street it looked the same as my neighborhood: big houses and a well-kept neighborhood.
"128..." I mumbled to myself and then parked on the street next to the house with a beautiful blue Mustang in its driveway. I gripped the wheel tightly, inhaled deeply...and exhaled. My heart rate was still rapid as I cut my ignition. His house was a big white one with black details on the exterior. It looked very modern. I walked up the dark gray concrete path and then up the white porch.
"Here we go." I whispered to myself and pushed the black doorbell.
The sound of the ringing echoed inside the house as I waited to be greeted. The door opened slowly and I was met with a woman with blonde hair and green eyes just like Frostee.
"Hello, you must be Scarlett." She smiled her white teeth dazzling reminding me of Mrs. Chase.
"That's me." I smiled with a little wave speaking sweetly.
"What are you doing, get in here it's chilly out there!" She ushered me inside and I already liked her. "Next time wear a jacket peach." I held back a surprised smile at her use of nicknames. She must be from the south.
I took in my surroundings. The inside looked about the same as the outside. White, bright white with decor of blacks and some grays. In front, was an open entrance with amazing lighting, behind it was a white curved staircase with iron railing that looked dangerous with the pointy ends. To each side of me were two different doorways.
"Thomas!" She yelled out. As I waited for Frostee I decided it must be better to call him by his birth name than anything else. At least while others are around. I heard footsteps upstairs, but my blood started pulsating and that was all I could hear. I licked my lips quickly and glanced at his mom as she watched me. It wasn't in an uncomfortable way. She somehow was able to make me feel comfortable. Mrs. Chase had a harder time doing that, maybe because she seemed a lot more formal.
Why do I keep on comparing them? Oh my god, they must be sisters that's how Rock and Flora are cousins with Frostee.
"Scarlett." The sound of my name on his lips was delicate and loving. I moved my face up and saw Frostee at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hi." I spoke quietly. His smile was wide and cute in a boyish kind of way.
"Well, I'll let you two be." She waved her hands in front of her face pretending to shew herself.
"Thank you for letting me come over Mrs. Lee." I smiled as she walked to the doorway on the right.
"Please call me Mabel." She tilted her head charmingly.
"Bye, mom." Frostee lifted his hand as a subtle wave. The second she exited the room Frostee turned his attention back to me. "She likes you." He looked at me as if he hadn't seen me in years.
