José Luña.
When I met him here for the first time I was able to play dumb and pretend like I was untouchable...However, meeting with him again after seeing the power he holds. What he had done to my boyfriend. The zero hint of humanity he contains. The crimes he can commit with no repercussions. No punishments.
He's the untouchable one.
Jefe wore a crisp clean dark brown suit contrary to the navy suit I had seen him in before. His black hair was styled the same and Julian did not accompany him; the one who held me during Frostee's beating.
I didn't dare to move from my spot. Maybe he's about to leave and I can just wait until then.
Lumberjack looked my way and I froze as my eyes widened. I went to shake my head as if to silently signal to him that I'm not here, but he tapped the desk gaining José's attention following his eye line he turned to see me.
God dammit.
It's not that I hate him. Although I do...I hate him with a burning passion, but even through all that hate he still... he still terrifies me.
He is a real-life villain.
Jefe smirked and stared at me. I won't be getting out of here alive. I slowly walked towards the front desk. I just want to get my free pineapple juice and leave.
"Good morning muñeca." José leaned against the desk and watched me stalk over. I stayed silent before replying.
"Morning Jefe." I mumbled. I didn't want to talk to him but I was afraid if I didn't reply he would do something to me.
"Please Escarletta call me José." I gave him a look of acknowledgment, but nothing more. I turned my attention to the fridge and to my displeasure the drink was gone. I sighed audibly and went to leave.
"Aren't you going to get a drink?" Lumberjack asked.
"The last pineapple is gone." I grumbled. Lumberjack shrugged and threw a towel over his shoulder. He proceeded towards the workout equipment to clean them. I moved to walk past Jefe until I felt an hand on my bicep. My entire body tensed.
"You want it?" José pulled me back exposing the drink that sat in front of him on the tabletop. I glanced up at him and his dark eyes were soft. I furrowed my eyebrows confused by his expression.
The fuck.
"It's fine José." I nodded my head and waited for him to release my arm.
"I insist muñeca." I searched his face for an answer to this weird gesture of kindness...or is this considered a threat if I rejected his offer? Better to just take it and go.
"Thank you." I said quietly and reached out for it. Before I took it his other hand came to my wrist and he pulled me close. His height towered over me much more than any other man. He leaned down slightly so he was close to my face. I smelt cigarettes and woodsy aftershave.
"Consider this an apology Miss. Muñeca." He whispered. I slowly lifted my head to meet his dark eyes. They swam into my blue ones as I searched for answers in his. He was serious.
Who the hell does he think he is? What the fuck kind of apology is that? He released me and I took the juice.
"I don't know about you Jefe...but I would never accept a nonpology. Giving me the last drink is known as a small act of kindness. Not an apology...even for someone like you."
Scarlett Isobel Buzzby. You are a dead woman. Dead, dead, dead.
I swiftly darted out the door before he could shoot me. I practically ran to my car and locked the doors.
