After lunch Flora drove us back to our street and she stopped me before we said goodbye.
"Did something happen recently?" She asked me softly. She sounded distraught.
"What do you mean? What's wrong?" I leaned towards her.
"I mean Rock he seems...different. Colder than usual." Flora started. "I mean he's always been that way but recently he's been a lot more short with me and...I don't know he's acting weird. Like he excused himself from dinner early Thursday night. Which he...never does." I furrowed my eyebrows wondering if something was going on with José or Black Velvet.
"Nothing that I know of..." I kept on thinking. "Sorry Goldie." I gave her an apologetic smile.
"That's alright. I'll see you tomorrow." She gave me a little wave.
"Bye." I replied climbing out of the car before she pulled it into the garage.
I made my way across the street. I glanced up at the sky seeing dark clouds starting to form. The calm before the storm? Is something going on with Black Velvet? José was acting somewhat normal at Ebony today, besides that half-assed apology. I have no idea why he acted that way this morning. Why did he feel the need to apologize anyway? Shouldn't he feel no remorse?
Whatever it doesn't matter. I'm wasting my time trying to figure out his ulterior motive.

It was hard to get up this morning because the soft rain pattering on my window was like a lovely lullaby. Ignoring my instincts I got out of bed. I tugged on some black flare jeans and a cropped dark green tee with a black embroidered butterfly in the middle. My breasts are slightly bigger than average which made the shirt take more notice to my chest than it would for others. I threw on my black Allstars and went to my vanity to finish getting ready. I kept my hair naturally straight but ran the flat iron through it because I knew the weather would try to frizz it up. I put on some basic makeup and waterproof mascara. I snatched my black leather jacket and closed my bedroom door behind me.
"I'm skipping coffee today, running late!" I shouted out to my mom as I grabbed my keys by the front door.
"Drive safe!" She shouted back from the kitchen.
"Will do." I mumbled before closing the door behind me.
I raced to my car hoping not to get soaked, but I failed. The leather jacket protected some parts of my body but not enough. I shivered as I started my car and it roared louder than usual. My phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my pocket. It was wet. How did that even happen? It was a text from Frostee.
7:25 A.M
Frostee- Good morning baby
Me- Morning puppy
Frostee- you want to come over tomorrow?
I stopped before answering him. Do I? Do I want to come over to his house where Mabel is?
Me- Sure
Me- I'm running late I'll text you later.
I cringed when I pressed send.
Rock was right I never should have pressed him so hard to find out who his dad was sleeping with. Why did it have to be Frostee's mom? What is worse...Frostee has no idea I know. Is that something I should even ask him about? Is it even a big deal to him? From the small interactions I have seen and the way he talks about his mom makes it seem like he really cares and loves his mom. If it was me in this situation would I have done the same...?
No point in thinking about it. My dad is dead. It wouldn't be considered an affair if my mother slept with another man.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and drove to school more recklessly than I should had. When I arrived with Bellatrix we walked up to the front not seeing Roxy waiting for us like usual.
"Is she sick? Did she text you?" I asked Trix knowing they're closer and she might have only talked to her.
"No..." Trix glanced down at her phone. Although I barely heard her as one of the bus' screeching wheels came to a stop.
As soon as the doors gasping as it opened Roxy walked down the steps in sweatpants and a hoodie. She looked up at us.
Fucking shit. She looks like hell.
She was in all black and her face was tired with dark circles, dry eyes, and chapped lips. The only light was her blonde hair which even seemed duller than usual.
"Roxy." I breathed.
She stepped closer to us out of the way of other kids and away from the edge of the street.
"I fucked up."

In record time Roxy told us what had happened.
She kissed Calvin.
Well technically Calvin kissed her and she pushed him away. After Frostee and I left the art show Calvin showed up. When Enrique was pulling their car around Roxy was telling him that she couldn't be friends with him anymore because her feelings for him were growing too strong. Calvin said he felt the same but didn't want to stop being friends. Roxy told him that they are not acting how friends should and he said, 'Because friends don't feel the way about each other that we do'. WHe grabbed her hands and kissed her. Calvin got a nasty black eye from Enrique. As for Roxy and Enrique, they broke up. Roxy said she still loved him and tried to convince him to stay, but he said he knew how Roxy felt about Calvin and that she needed to sort out her feelings. Enrique said, 'I'm not a lap dog'. I'm assuming what he meant by that was that he wasn't going to stay by her side if she had feelings for other men. Which is completely valid and opened my eyes.
I had been doing the same to Frostee. I spent too much time with Rock. I'm glad we fought. I'm glad we are not friends anymore. I'm glad I will be doing these packets alone for the rest of the year. If I really do care about Frostee I will not allow myself to be put in any more situations where Rock will be able to weasel his way into my heart.
