"I know how old he is."
"Were you surprised?" Rock asked with a curious grin on his face.
We had moved from the dining room to the family room which was much more informal compared to the lounge. Made it easier to get comfortable. Rock and I sat on the couch together with a good amount of space between us. He could still reach me easily, but thankfully he hasn't tried yet. He is getting in a bad habit of touching me...
"Yes and no." I thought. "He looked like he has to at least be eighteen, but how he acts...he seems sixteen."
"How he acts?" Rock was lost.
"Yeah. He is very timid and optimistic." I explained.
"Are we talking about the same Frostee here?" Rock joked, but I could see he was also serious.
"Well, it's not a very common name Rock." I rolled my eyes at him. Rock went dead silent and I moved my gaze wondering what I said wrong.
"Did you just say my name?" He asked and his expression was indecipherable. Was he shocked? Shy? Happy?
"Yes...am I not allowed to?" I shook my head wanting to know what the big deal was.
"You've never addressed me by my name Buzz." He grinned. I thought about all the other times we have talked and I realized why he was surprised. I addressed him by his name in front of other people, but I have never called him Rock in front of him, it was always asshat.
"I guess not..." I touched my bottom lip with two fingers. "You like it?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him teasing.
"I-" My phone started to ring.
"Hold that thought." I pulled it out and checked the caller ID. "Oh, it's...Frostee." Rock tilted his head just the slightest. I think he wanted to know if I was going to pick up or not. Before I could answer him, Rock stood and made his way to the exit.
"I'll be in the library Scarlett." He winked and exited. I waited one more moment and answered.
"Hey, Frostee."
"Hey, sorry are you in school?" He asked.
"Actually no...got let out early." I might as well keep up with the lie. "Shouldn't you be at school though?" I asked curiously.
"My mom pulled me out." He mentioned. "She wanted to take me to the tailor. I need to get fitted for my new tux."
"A tux? For what?" I was very intrigued now.
"Well, that is what I called you about." Frostee sounded hesitant on the phone. I waited for him to continue. "We have a gala this weekend, want to be my date Red?"
"Oh. A gala." I licked my lips and then rubbed them together. "What for?"
"Um...it is a fundraiser for a nonprofit for babies in the INCU." Frostee explained awkwardly.
"Oh..." I said surprised, but you could also hear my smile.
"So...is that a yes?" Frostee said after a moment of silence.
"Oh...yeah." I stopped for a second. "Yes." I breathed out.
"Okay great." I could hear his smile. "Black-tie attire. I'll pick you up at seven on Saturday."
"Will I see you before Saturday?" I asked.
"You miss me that much already?" Frostee teased.
"Not in the slightest Blue." I joke with sarcasm.
"How is Thursday night?" Frostee asked. "My house?"
"I'll see you then."
"Goodbye, Red."
