There had to be people from the public and the school for the parking lot to be as packed as it was. Thankfully we found a spot in the lot while others started to circle in the lot just to end up parking on the street and pay the parking meters.
"Are art shows usually hosted by booster club parents at Crescent Valley?" Frostee asked as we made our way to the building.
"I wouldn't know...this is my first time." I answered with the same confusion in my voice as his.
Frostee hummed a response then snuck his hand in mine.
As we approached the front of the gallery I noticed the exterior design was in bold blacks and whites like Frostee's house. The left side had a big reflective glass window and at the bottom written in small white letters, 'Wenna Galleria' and in smaller white letters under said, 'A Crescent Valley Art Gallery' On the right side was a tree with yellow and brown leaves below noting it has already lost its leaves for the winter. The foot traffic started to pick up as we quickly made our way inside, others left, and more entered from behind us. At the entrance sat a table with complimentary brochures. I lifted my head after taking a brochure and noticed the massive amount of people.
"Is this normal?" I whispered to Frostee. He has to know more about art galleries than me. That is one thing I haven't learned from my past identities.
"No..." He whispered back.
I saw students standing next to paintings and other sculptures while people admired them and read the descriptions at the bottom of the artwork. Some others congratulated the students and asked more questions if the description wasn't enough for them.
"Let's find Trix." I turned to Frostee and he was staring off past me. His face relaxed and I saw a corner of his lips curve up. Following his eye line I spotted Bellatrix. I furrowed my eyebrows for a moment. Why...is he looking at her like that? When Trix noticed us she froze and her eyes went wide. She quickly made her way across the gallery to us giving me no time to see which art piece was hers.
"Uh hey guys..." She stared at Frostee nervously then gave me a stern look.
"Hey, Vinci." Frostee grinned happily.
"Vinci?" Trix and I said simultaneously.
"Yeah," He looked at us like we should know what that means. "Like Leonardo da Vinci." He shook his head lightly.
I made an 'Oh' sound and glanced at Trix. She started to blush and Frostee smiled wider.
"Can I steal Scarlett for a second?" Bellatrix asked quickly.
"Sure I'll be over there." Frostee pointed from where Trix came from and I nodded.
Trix watched Frostee walk away before she turned back to me. Her hair was styled in a casual half-up half-down with a small black clip that camouflaged inside her jet-black hair. She wore a short black leather jacket and a black dress that went midthigh. To finish it all off she wore her black Doc Marten boots.
"Trix, are you wearing a dress?" I questioned confused. I don't think she has worn so much as a skirt before.
"Never mind that." She waved her hands in front of her so I'd focus. "What the hell is Thomas doing here?!" She whisper-yelled.
"W-What do you mean? Is he not allowed?" I asked as my brows stitched together and I glanced behind as Frostee stared at a specific sculpture.
"W-Well he it's not..." She looked back stumbling over her words.
"What's wrong with Thomas being here?" I asked her again.
"I just-" She stopped, took in a big breath, and let it out. "It's fine...I'm just very protective over my work." She sighed. "Not only are we in an actual gallery but-"
"Okay, so this isn't normal." I interrupted her.
"Of course, it's not normal." She stared at me. "We usually just have a little showcase in the school cafeteria, but on Monday Mrs. Dogulas was offered to showcase our art in this gallery."
"Monday?" I thought aloud.
This is Wenna Chase's gallery, she offered to showcase the students' artwork, and that never happens. What happened that compelled her to offer? Surely she isn't getting paid, or the school would have been doing this already. I don't know much about Mrs. Chase...could it have been Flora? Flora also invited Bellatrix and Roxy to the hot tub that night. Did she find out Trix had a showcase and convince her mom to offer up her gallery? I feel like Flora would have warned me before and she would be here, but I don't see her anywhere. Although its hard to see anyone in here.
"Scar?" Trix dragged me out of my thoughts I lifted my head. "What is it?" She asked noticing my serious expression.
"It's nothing. Where is your super secretive art project?" Trix smiled.
"Okay...I think I could have done better..."Trix trailed off as she led me to where Frostee wandered off to earlier. "But here it is."
It was massive. I was silent because all the air escaped from my lungs.
A bottom base made from dark metal and other colored metal pieces came out of the base. The scraps of metal placed on the base were shaped into what looked like big weeds and lurked toward the middle of the art piece. In the middle, cylinder metal pieces emerged from the base and developed into a big metal flower that stood tall, and the leaves on the stem covered a smaller flower with similar traits. The big flower was very damaged compared to the small flower which looked like it had been untouched.
I quickly searched for the description portion.
Name: Escudo
Artist Description: Damage is the consequence to protect the ones you love. All parts from this piece are from 100% recycled material.
"Whoa." I breathed. I felt Trix staring at me and had to tear my eyes away to meet her gaze. She looked at me fiddling with her blood-red nails. Is she waiting for an answer? I assumed my breathless 'whoa' was a good enough answer. "Trix it's...absolutely amazing." I gushed looking in between her and the sculpture.
"It really is Bellatrix." Frostee agreed.
"What does Escudo mean?" I asked noticing it had to be a different language.
"Escudo." Frostee corrected my pronunciation. "It's Spanish for shield." Frostee answered for Trix. "Right Vinci."
