Sirius and Regulus were fighting.

But not a normal sibling fight.

This fight was designed to cut them core, leave them with nothing left of their dignity.

This fight was targeted at Regulus.

"You are just like them!" Sirius shouted, referencing to their parents.

"At least I wasn't as cowardly as to leave my baby brother in a house alone with them!" Retorted Regulus.

"You'd never understand, you're too young."

"I'm 17." Reminded him, still shouting.

"Then act it!" Sirius yelled.

"I know my age and I act like it!" Regulus screeched.

"That's enough!" Commanded James, trying to be louder than they're screaming.

They didn't stop.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!" James repeated.

Their gaze snapped to James. James Fleamont Potter. James Fleamont Potter, the man who never snapped at anyone, and typically would never shout.

They both fell silent.

Regulus' gaze went blurry, and he refused to let any threatening tears spill.

Sirius, on the other hand, let sobs rack through his entire body, trembling with each step he took towards the door.

"I'm going to the girls." Sirius mumbled under his breathe, barely loud enough for anyone to hear, as he pulled open the door.

James didn't know how to comfort anyone, that was Remus' job, but Remus wasn't here, and Regulus was on the verge of breaking.

James opened his arms, and Regulus fell into them. James wrapped his arms around Regulus' skinny, pale torso.

Regulus didn't cry for a minute, before something inside of him snapped. Like all the built of feelings that were held behind a wall, became too much and the wall fell.

James shirt was soaked, as Regulus sobbed into it.

"I- I didn't mean it. He doesn't think I meant it, does he?" Regulus asked through tears.

"He knows you didn't. He didn't mean it either." James comforted.

"I know he think I'm like them, I know, I know it all too well. It's because I am just like them." Regulus admitted.

"You're nothing like them. You're Regulus "I care for everyone, and everything but I'll never let it show," soon- to- be Potter." James emphasised.

Regulus chuckled at the last bit.

"I'm still 17." He confessed.

"Yet you are more mature than me and Sirius combined."

James subconsciously rocked back and forth, bringing Regulus with him.

Giving Regulus a feel of comfort and safety.

"It is a shame I'm just like them." Regulus expressed, slyly.

"You're not, Regulus." James reminded him.

"You're right, I am them." Regulus corrected

James pulled back, he saw the devilish grin on Regulus' face, the cunning look in his eyes.

"What's going on Regulus?"

"Seems like dear old Sirius forgot to mention a very small detail about our parents."

James cocked his head to the side in confusion.

"Merlin Potter, the Imperius curse." Regulus spat, flicking James' forehead.

James winced in pain, and rubbed the red spot on his forehead.

"What?" He finally asked.

"Arvada Kedarva." Regulus spelled, without a single drop of mercy throughout his body.

When he broke the spell, he collapsed to the floor out of exhaustion, but eyes then fell on James' lifeless ones.

"No. No. No. This isn't happening." Regulus chanting, flipping around to stare directly at James. He was silently cursing himself.

Sobs racked his body, and he cried harder than he ever has.

I was too lazy to write the ending but it's:

Regulus takes James to Madam Pomfrey and begs her to help

She relieved ( re- a- live- d. idk how to spell ) him

James survives the attack

'Regulus sat there, eyes sore and puffy from crying. He held onto James' hand as if he let go James' would float up never to be seen again. He buried his head in his hands, until he left James' fingers twitch. Regulus looked up with hope, to see James' eyes lids flutter open. He pulled him into a hug. "James! You're awake!"'
